I feel your pain, Krytac Gear boxes are notorious for warping my Krytac was such a f*cking pain in the ass to get the shell closed I had to dremel out some material and re-shim.
**phew** Thought this was one of the Krytac's that I'd done up for a moment. When changing the gears in krytac's I always relieved the back of the spur instead of modifying the casing, but both ways work!
I give you credit for having the patience to continue working on krytac gearboxes. When people ask me to put high speed gears in them now I just go the shs dsg route. Its compatible with the krytac stock gears and it'll get you close to 40 rps without having to change out alot of parts or modify the gearbox beyond radiusing, cutting the tappet plate, and a new piston and spring. And I agree with your pre compression idea, I put spacers into alot of guns not only for AOE, but that combined with short stroking a tooth or 2 is a great way to fix krytacs overspin that alot of their guns like the vector suffer from when using stronger batteries or trigger spamming

I upgraded a Krytac Nauntilus shell for a friend, and i had similar issues with the shell itself. The spur just was squeezed to much (could not check the original Krytac spur, i got the gearbox with an already installed high speed gear set) , same solution than you, bore up the holes for the bushings and file down the axle of the spur gear. Same issues with the G&G G2 gearbox of my brothers TR16 MBR 308SR. Lets see, i have an other Krytac shell to work on Thursday or Friday this week, hope it will be less complicated, than the first one i had on the table. I personal prefer Lonex and Retro Arms shells, never had any issues with those.
@@alexK661 They are very reliable out of the box. But I can't deny that it's Nautilus Gearbox is the worst platform if you plan to upgrade it. Mainly because of some proprietary parts and design that is very different from the normal V2 gearbox.
The gears that were in that when you started were not krytac gears. I’ve have just finished doing what you have done with aftermarket gears and I too had to recess the bushings and shorten the gear shaft to allow the cases to close. The original krytac gears have a recess machines into the back side of the spur gears to allow for the bushing to be proud in the case and on the other end of the spur gear there is a very stiff springs to keep the gear under pressure. If you want some photos of standard krytac gears I can send you some. To get the abbey selector to work I filed down the backside of the bushings and thinned the abbey gear down TIL it worked. What did you use to cover the abbey hole?? The more you recess the bushings the more the selectors bind up so machine a recess in the back side it the gear. Krytacs have too many proprietary parts that make modifications tricky.

I have a jg gearbox that is equally ffed up. Unable to put enough shims in to be able to turn freely. I can't just raise it up enough. On the other side the Bushing sticks out a bit.
Working on a Krytac Nautilus Gearbox is a bit pain in the ass. They say V2 parts can fit but their spur gear is proprietary and has "self shimming" feature. If you want to install other gear sets, like SHS, you need to modify, shave off some of the spur gear shaft for it to fit, or else it will bust the bearings. Why do they have the proprietary spur gear? because of the Ambidextrous fire selector. Overall, a good rifle OOTB, but if you plan to modify it, a great deal of research is needed. I had my Trident SPR upgraded to fire fast on semi-auto so i had my tech install an SHS 13:1 and hitting at 420 FPS using 0.2s. Now, it has a polarstar engine in it.
Prometheus Wide Use Gears!!! Expensive? Yes, like ~$90 Mesh like butter with themselves and a lot of different pinions? Hell yes! Maybe if that axle mod was done sooner or if the gears I had just mentioned we’re used it could have prevented the warping... Krytac shells have tight shimming tolerances to begin with so running strong springs with tight shimming is asking for trouble.

Wun Mike I know I’m not negative Airsoft but if the sector gear has a sector delay chip remove it. the wobbly FPS could be that the delayer is holding the tappet plate back for too long and not returning fast enough to get a proper airseal with the hop up chamber

Awesome video m8, reminds me to ask got a problem on the specna arms edge some times on semi auto it just randomly locks when on semi some times like the safety has been selected but it hasnt then resets once flick to full auto fire once and back to semi works fine until does it again, etc any idea why it would do that. Some specs standard inside but with m100 spring does about 325 factory shit it down to 290.
You are disconnecting the trigger contacts before a cycle can be completed, get a better battery, stronger motor. Or a nice trigger fet w/ active break
Not a fan of helical gears generally in airsoft, I don’t believe there’s ever a good reason to use them, but especially with ball race bearings, they’re not designed to take axial load, only radial. The helix angle of the gears produces a combined load.
Ignore my other comment, can't sleep so watched the vid, curious how close all that work done to the gearbox came to costing more than just buying a new gear box shell.

People say Specna Arms is "good for the money" but that makes them sound like they aren't shit only because they're cheap but they are great guns out of the box and I'd buy a Edge model over any Krytac any day

So I’m just curious what brand you actually like. I have been watching quite a few of your videos and you have pretty much said every gun From the factory is total shit. I just really want to know what brand you recommend if you’re not going to modify it. I have been looking at GMG top tech guns, kryptek, and VFC. You have pretty much said nothing positive about any of those brands and I am really not sure what to go with now. I was going toward the g&g L85 or GR25.
All the techs dislike Krytac because they are difficult to improve on without a lot of work. Out of the box, Krytac is one of the best options. But for mods, Krytac sucks lol. I love mine though. Ol' reliable and performs better than a lot of other guns on the field
My Krytac had a fucked gearbox shell and caused similar issues. Not a great amount of fun to have after being told by other airsofters "Krytac makes the best guns, blah blah blah". Yeah, I'll stick to my self-assembled SHS/ZCI monstrosities that actually work lol
Honestly there nice guns. My friend has a crb and I have an spr I do alotof teching gor my group least 6 people! He has a guy he goes to which imo he sucks he messes up more shit then it's worth broken his motor last month or so. Honestly if you can tech good and know exactly what you are doing and dont half ass it. krytac wont let you down I been running my for over a year and half now shes still strong and ready to go at anytime :)
But looking again they don’t look like KRYTAC gears you removed. I’m not being a tit or anything. I do like watching your vids I think that your the only “real” tech that regularly releases content and I thoroughly enjoy what you put out 👍🏻

JAVELIN 314 the stock mosfet is literally the best stock mosfet...it’s based on a 3034 which is considered one of the best basic fets, and there 30k motors aren’t that bad, better than some, average for others

I can see where contacts have lasted longer with the addition of a mosfet like this vs a gun that doesn't have one but my issue is that it's really nothing more than a glorified fuse - now I've not had one of these mosfets shit the bed, unlike classic army & VFC standard mosfets which last less time than a set of contacts but it's still a rather wasted effort considering a gate nano aab is so small & so cheap & actually provides the same debouncing & thermal cut off qualites plus active braking... 95% of airsofters see the word "mosfet" & think YES!! I CAN RUN 11.1! GUN MUST BE TOP OF THE LINE! but as we know, it doesn't mean shit...
