less scary because the right brothers where not stupid enough to throw there asses off a high platform instead opting to try and actually take up from flat ground and maintain a flight a few feet off the ground you actually would have been higher just walking upstairs

Aerodynamically sound flugtags are incredible in flight when tested for action.
Some of these designs could fly if it wasn't for the launch. Taking off seems hard to do. Crosswinds aren't helping either.
Some of the worst crashes were the university crews. Go figure.

I'm curious on the limitations. It seems really obvious to have minimal loose wiring around and to have at the very least elevator control. Quite depressing that MIT schools can't even make a proper glider without accounting for wind, balance, and separation from push contraption.

More works needs to be done with the launch trolleys. You could test flying ok but launching on the trolley which drop off has differnt forces.

0:34 wow if they had balanced that green flying wing better I bet it would have done well! The CG was way too aft and it pitched up and stalled right away.
Yeah not wrong, a lot of leading edge and chord to play with so potential for washout to the tip etc. For CG you could just shift the pilots arse by a few CM!
That yellow one. It went nose down because it was full nose down on the controls. The pilot choice was poor
