Cointreau is by far our favorite and ironically we just made a margarita on the rocks last night with it. Great flavor of sweetness that we find much more pronounced than the other ones, but in a good way. Loved it guys! Great job Carl and Riley!
@@carl_busch do you have a camera in our house?!?! LOL. No, we actually normally have tacos like 2x - 3x a week but last night we made a cast iron pork chop on the grill with sweet potato fries. It was good. Wish I had more right now.
Have you tried Patron Orange Liquor? I have DeKuyper and Cointreau and Patron. As just a basement bartendar, I need to start sampling spirits like this. Truely find out what I like. Thanks for sharing and for an idea. Cheers my Friends!!
I mainly use the dry Curaçao these days. I like the dryness it brings. Excellent in Mai Tai’s and Tiki cocktails. I like both Cointreau and Dry Curaçao in my margaritas! Agave always! I loved this comparison! Great job party peeps! Yay Riley! 🍹
What?? No Grand Marnier??? When I did my review video, I rated the Margaritas: 1. Grand Manier --- 2. Triple Sec --- 3. Cointreau --- 4. Curacao .. Great Video!
The dry curaçao allows you to sweeten the drink as you prefer. Sometimes I add an ounce of white Creme de cacao to my margarita cocktail. Or peach brandy.
Riley coming through with the palate of the gods!! Surprised to hear that you found the cointreau to be the least effective, have been cointreau purists for many years haha
I wish you guys could get Fortunella (Kumquat) GAME CHANGER. Also, I really wanna try Giffards Posh Triple Sec. Not they're normal one. Apparently it knocks spots of Cointreau!
I dont find much Bols around here but would like to try it. Pierre Ferrand Dry and Cointreau are favorites for different recipes. The DeKrapurs is my least favorite. Thanks for the review.
Cointreau is triple sec too, they used to have that on the label, but all these shitty triple secs came out so they quit using the name. I use PF these days, I think it add a ton of good flavor to drinks. BTW, PF dry Curacao is also cognac based, which is why it has that spicy taste.
that is crazy how many different kinds 🍊 grand mariner is fancy .👍 also all kinds of orange brandy and orange schnapps. I have to start wiping my more sugar based liqueurs. Nothing worse than filming and unable to get the bottle open haha
Ferrand Dry Curacao more similar to Grand Marnier or Mandarin Napoleon, with some aged cognac added to the blend. Except I find it’s a little spicer and less sweet.
@@carl_busch yes, I saw thar on your website. But you used orange liqueur in the taste test and maybe I missed it, but how many ounces did you use. I’m guessing 1/2 oz
Cointreau tastes like the orange-flavored candies in my office… but for alcoholics. Some say it’s really dry but I find it much sweeter than Grand Marnier. Strange.
@@carl_busch You're welcome. I just heard about it, it was just okay. Grand Manier is still my favorite. And then Cointreau. GrandGala may come in third place. It's another one (it's a cheaper brand), it has 15% alcohol (I can't remember the name) I like that one as well. I apologize, if I didn't spell everything correctly . Lol
Sorry - you are wrong... Well: Cointreau was the first company which called their orange liqueur triple sec curaçao (curaçoa meaning the style of the liqueur, which was invented on this island): it meant apparently: triple the taste and dryer than other liqueurs (in the period, it has been introduced). Cointreau dropped the moniker triple sec, when there were a lot of other brands copying this term (Cointreau at the same time, was well established). The Pierre Ferand Dry Curaçao is also a hybrid - probably far closer to Grand Mariner. Because it has some cognac in it - hence Grand Mariner and Pierre Ferand could be called Orange Curaçao. White orange liqueurs based on neutral spirit could be called Triple Sec Curaçaos.
Just tried cointreau for the first time today! I was surprised that it ws clear when i poured it, I wa expecting something else cause of the dark bottle :D still need to find a bottle of curacao though.
Cointreau used to be called triple sec. But that name had negative connotations so they dropped it from the label and went to just Cointreau. Source: I think I heard that somewhere
Why waste a perfectly good margarita with Cuervo? Cuervo makes me sad. Bols is good for triple sec. Gran Marnier makes the Cadillac, but I usually sub that out for Harlequin, which is very similar but half the price. Bang for the buck.
We did a review on 8 different tequilas and had a bunch of tequila left over is the main reason we went with Jose. Also in the Midwest Jose is the most common well tequila around. We wanted to do something with a "lower" quality tequila because a lot of people are used to it.
@@carl_busch okay. Have you guys tried Corralejo reposado & anjeo? It's in a blue & red bottle. You should try it. GREAT tequila, that's reasonable priced.
Cuervo? No thanks. Try mixing your Marg with Tres Agaves or Arette blanco. 100% Blue Weber agave, no additives and very reasonable. I use Cointreau or Agave Nectar. I tried some cheaper brand of Triple Sec once which I can't recall and it tasted like chemicals.

Dry Curacao is the one I always have in my home bar. Great review!
Thanks Kevin. We will be for sure always having a bottle of the Ferrand in ours.
I agree. It is my favorite Curacao.
I love the Dry Curacao!! Delicious!
TH-cam just recommended this to me, so I watched and enjoyed

We will give Grand Marnier and Licor 43 its own video.
I will disagree as bartender 22 years dry curacao is n1 . But I use Grand marnier mixed with cointraue
So many orange liqueurs! Love the comparisons you guys do.
So soooo many. LOL. Thanks Jen we appreciate it.
The dry curaçao allows you to sweeten the drink as you prefer. Sometimes I add an ounce of white Creme de cacao to my margarita cocktail. Or peach brandy.
I have never added either of those. Might have to give it a try.
Great comparison video! I have to say my favorite is Triple Sec, although I'd take any of them in a Margarita 😋
Any are an excellent choice.
Riley coming through with the palate of the gods!! Surprised to hear that you found the cointreau to be the least effective, have been cointreau purists for many years haha
She is great at picking out flavors!! Don't get us wrong we like cointreau and would be happy with it anytime. Just crazy when you do side by side.
@@carl_busch Really it speaks more to us not experimenting enough with other dry orange liqueurs!
@@DrinkInDigital Im trying to experiment more and more.
@@carl_busch Luckily you have a God Level Palate to help you along the way!
Not a Grand Marnier fan...I've been using Patron Citronge lately because I have a bottle.
I need to try Patron Citronge for sure.

I just Googled Fortunella and WOW what a great looking bottle. I doesn't look like I can get anything Giffards within at least a 70 mile radius.
@@carl_busch yeah Fortunella is all I use on my channel for a Orange Liqueur. I’ve been on that for a good 6 months. Freakin unbelievable taste.
Very interesting, I’ve got several orange liqueur options at home and it seems it doesn’t really matter which one I use.
Try side by side and see if you can see a difference.
@@carl_busch that could result in a very messy evening 🤪
I am a Cointreau ride or die, though I am dabbling in making my own. Great comparison video as always 👏
Thanks Meaghen. I can't wait to see a video on your own!!
I've found that when I can find it at our local liquor store, I prefer Bauchant at half the price of Cointreau.
I haven't heard of Bauchant but if I see it I will pick it up. Thanks for the heads up.
Dry Curacao is fantastic for cocktails. My go-to is Cointreau in the bar where I work. We stop using triple sec for a long time now.
Cointreau is for sure the go to in a lot of places I see.
I dont find much Bols around here but would like to try it. Pierre Ferrand Dry and Cointreau are favorites for different recipes. The DeKrapurs is my least favorite. Thanks for the review.
There isn't much Bols around here either but the triple sec and some random seasonally ones.

I knew Cointreau was a triple sec but didn't realize PF was cognac based. Should have done more research LOL. Thanks for the info Pete!
@@carl_busch Ja! The PF might be more complicated than jut being cognac, but Pierre Ferrand is a cognac brand so it does make sense. Fun vid!

Which margarita recipe did you use? Your website margarita recipe uses tequila, lime juice, agave and no orange liqueur.
We use the Tommy's Margarita recipe. 2 oz tequila, we use 1 oz lime, 1 oz agave.

The Pierre Ferrand is a Brandy cognac blend. So that's similar to a Grand Mariner
& Harlequin.
We found that afterwards. Whoops. LOL
Being able to pick out a 1/2 of liquer difference in any drink is impressive, in a tequila drink? Wow
It's easier when doing a side by side.
