I have been watching Anders videos and heard him mention your channel. I enjoyed this comparison, but I will say that using Grand Marnier makes a great Grand Marnier cocktail with Tequila. I prefer Cointreau or a really good Triple Sec (not the $7 version) to make a Tequila cocktail. The GM version is good, but I find the GM overwhelms the Don Julio, which is my favorite sipping Tequila as well.

For a crisp drink, go for blanco tequila, Cointreau, and simple syrup as needed. For a smooth drink, anejo, Grand Marnier, and agave. Choose the style based on the food. Bright with tomatillo and smooth with tomatoes.

For me, an easy #1 would be adding 3/4 to 1 oz of Agave nectar to the Cointreau mix. I also want a lime wedge to squeeze into it, so I guess I prefer 1.5 oz of lime juice instead, but I usually splash a little more Tequila also.

Great video. Agree that reposado is better than blanco for margaritas. Personal preference, I guess, as most places use blanco instead. I bet if you blind tasted...your results would have changed as well.
To be fair....the Grand Marnier is actually adding Cognac along with the orange liquer...which itself is another ingredient modifier. PF is infact closer to Cointreau than Grand. Your pallet probably needs that 4th and maybe 5th ingredient (more sugar) to be considered "good". Each person will be slightly different.

I prefer silver tequilas for margaritas. The camel coloring added to the dark tequilas for the purposes of adding color, adds a mildly bitter taste, which I feel is an unnecessary additional flavor. I feel the darker tequilas are best for sipping or shots. I also always add agave for sweetness. Since both tequila and agave sweeteners are made from agave, they pair much better than sugar based sweeteners. Of course, what tastes better is completely subjective and can obviously differ from person to person. When we lived in Houston, we absolutely loved DeKuyper O3 Premium Orange Liqueur. Unfortunately, I haven’t been to find it in the Los Angeles area. Loved your video!!!
