My dad bought a Mk2 when he was 70, I went with him and as we drove off the sellers drive it started pissing petrol from the carb Doh !, seller would not answer the door, anyways we only lived 3 mins away and me just starting working on cars told dad I will fix it, went to junk yard, fitted a good carb and all was good :) oh and dad is still with us at 93 and loving life :)
You must have the patience of a saint. Just rip it out and start again. Unless that shell is full of filler it looks great and those Harris Pintos are on another level.
Top job on the loom! Can't believe that I had one of these in the same colour back in the mid 90s given to me as my first car, not sweet looking like this example though, I scrapped it when the engine started knocking. If I knew then, what I know now, I'd probably still have it today. Losing it has been much inspiration for my channel.
If I were you, I’d build a “Harrier” copy or replica from a South African 1600 Sport. Only 1,000 white and 500 silver were ever built. But essentially, it is just a 1600 Sport with 4 spoke dove white inlaid alloy wheels, Fishnet Recaro seats, overriders, boot spoiler and that fantastic blue stripe. Keep it to as original Harrier spec as possible and everybody will snap your hands off!
I’ve got a very similar issue with my 1977 mk1 Cavalier which has a Red Top conversion and the wiring is all over the place in the engine bay! I plan to do the same and get rid of redundant wires and tidy the loom up. (Very much like that Corsa Turbo too, with random bits everywhere! The joys of home made conversions!) My Grandad had a mk2 Escort 1.6L the same colour as this, also a 2-door! Love it
that car used to have a centre console in, the two bulbs together, open brown spade, + red were for the clock mk3/4/5 cortina clocks were what i used to get a rev counter into an escort, did loads in the day, always looked best when they looked original, + no RS tax there used to be 5 different colours of ford temp senders, each one had slightly different resistances, you picked the one that suited that gauge for accuracy, ie, at half way when the thermostat opened keep it up young man
Start getting a few bits and replay it all and tide you all and tidy it up so it's not dangerous so it's not dangling in the passenger footwear tidy up really good But it's nice to be at your Junction of why you're so 😅😅
Number one fire hazard in any Cars, but Classics especially, its a must for all of us really,to sort bad looms. I've removed over two meters of unused and redundant Loom from one customers car, after it was 'professionally' re-worked by another source. Fair play to you,it takes so much time, and paitience that a lot of people just don't understand when they see the Labour charge.
Yes they did have cigarette lighters in the escort mat zoos cause I had one in mine I'd love to win that baby I tell you I love the escort Martinez has brought up with them I had 2 of themI had a photo and a Tudor 😅😅😅
Choice as job on the wiring bro... Did notice the steering column trim or something was missing. Boy racer thing? Anyways, sweet looking unit. Loved you Escort series of stuff. Cheers
What a beauty I love your wiring it’s very neat you can practice on mine you will retire before you finish it and no I didn’t do it it was done by an auto electrician before I purchased it it’s like Spaghetti junction
Clean job indeed why you would take a heater out a car that will deffo need a heater on nice wet days drifting in UK lol Cracking colour my T4 is near if not it Can't wait to see more on the escort 👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🦄😁🤞✌️
It looks like where the heater pipes come out engine side the cylinder heads in the way, maybe one of those electric rally ones is needed like on my red mk2 👍
considering how well the rest of the car looks its strange that the wiring looked so bad . maybe the restro was done by a garage and the gauges was done by one of the owners who was not so picky . but the wiring now looks like it should . Strange you did not remove or replace the aftermarket temp gauge . That must be playing havoc with your OCD
@ODDAutos now I understand why they did that I got a v6 essex in my escort in South Africa using the gagues of a mk5 cortina v6 works perfectly and look OME.😅
Holy hell, that wiring was a proper shit show. No wonder so many old cars go up in smoke! Those old torpedo fuses are absolute garbage. You've done a great job of simplifying and tidying there Paul!
Glad to see you tidying up the rats nest. Years ago when installing car audio systems I use to shake my head at what some installers use to do leaving long lengths of wire instead of shortening and soldering and of course heat shrinking the solder joints
everytime i watch odd autos videos youtube feels the need to recommend another 50 car channels its frikin annoying this is the only channel i watch! dont need all that shit rammed down my feed, algorithms are shit man.😂😂😂😂

Loom looks much better, the old wiring looked like a terrorists backpack
Ha ha that’s a great one! Using that phrase from now on 🤣🤣
I love that analogy😂
My dad had a Mk 2 Escort in cosmos blue with vinyl roof. It was the first car that I ever drove.
Wow that electrical work is amazing
I ❤ those Old Classic Ford’s including the Mk1 / Mk2 & Mk3 Escorts / Mk3 / Mk4 / Mk5 Cortina’s Ghia / Crusaders & Carousels
Nice tidy job making the loom miles better - great work.
Cheers Al, does look a bit better now 👍

Yes me too mate, they are soo much money these days 🫤

Cheers Paul, yes think the temp sender had the black plastic ring round it so hopefully right one 👍
You explain things so well, I learn a lot from watching these so thank you. Keep it up 👍🏼
That’s great to know Ryan, glad you enjoyed it mate 👍
That was a big transformation. A lot of patience needed
Lovely Job that Paul - give my regards to No Runs When you see him !!

The wiring looks 100% better top job👍
Thank you matey 👍
Nice work on the loom. So much neater. These Harris Mk2 Escorts are awesome.
They are great! Can’t wait for the road test now 😍
Yes they did have cigarette lighters in the escort mat zoos cause I had one in mine I'd love to win that baby I tell you I love the escort Martinez has brought up with them I had 2 of themI had a photo and a Tudor 😅😅😅
Stumbled across your channel this morning. It's excellent. Keep up the great work.
Thank you buddy 👍👍 appreciate that 👍
So pleased you sorted the wiring, it was killing me when you first showed it. Great as always 👍
That is a beautiful Mk2. Love the colour and the minilites.
Night and day difference on the wiring! Big well done there.
Good job! How does it work running without a heaterbox?! The tropical temps of Britain might make heating unnecessary but fog must be a problem?
You don't need OCD to be horrified with that rats nest!! Nice job sorting it out.
Cracking work man 🥳 as you say it was functional before but definitely a bit of mess too 🙂👍
Hopefully one day I can get this car, nice tidy job. Sending love from 🇲🇾 Well done.
I wish I had the patience for wiring as you do! Great job done.
That wiring reminds me of so many motors I’ve owned/worked on in the past. Very neat job at the end.
Think I’ve got an old Porsche in next for the same, cheers Chris 👍
Wow awesome job again mate! Always top quality and standards
great work on a awesome car
The wiring loom should of been done like that from the start, it looks 100% better all taped up and cable tied neatly.
I can’t believe with such a beautiful car like that the wiring is like a three year old did it 😂 brilliant job of sorting it out all tidy and neat 👍
Can come down under and tidy up my wiring, good work
It’s funny wiring is my favourite job to do, love it 👍
The loom looks a lot better the original looked like our lass's hair in the morning
Choice as job on the wiring bro... Did notice the steering column trim or something was missing.
Boy racer thing?
Anyways, sweet looking unit. Loved you Escort series of stuff. Cheers
Thanks Ben 👍👍
Love me a mk2 as per my pic! great work

It’s definitely 😍. Just a shame I can never buy tickets for these 🫤
Looks like the wiring was done by Stevie Wonder, what a bodge but it does make you wonder how good everything else has been done.
Same here. Shortcuts taken, and very poorly done. Those crimped connectors are rubbish.
@@Stephen.C.bet Ron Harris would of said take my name off that looking at the wiring disaster
Lovely job tidying that wiring. What a cracking car too 👏
It’s a lovely escort 😍
Super job on the wiring, i dont think just liking things tidy means you have OCD (CDO in alphabetical order)
Lovely tidy job 👍
Whoever "built" that wiring loom should take a long hard look in the mirror and ask him/her self, "is this the right job for me?" It's atrocious
Thanks for sharing👍
Fantastic
As soon as a saw that loom I thought. Oh please cut as much out as possible but wow when you weee done it looked great
Clean job indeed why you would take a heater out a car that will deffo need a heater on nice wet days drifting in UK lol

The pinto must be sitting back ever so slightly then
But electric one out a rally car should keep steam of window
👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🦄😁🤞✌️
I would have just put an rs2000 set of clocks in.Comes with rev counter.
Nice job on that scruffy wiring, looks so much better now, the car deserves it.
It does, the cars a minter 😍
Gotta love a mk2
100% 😍
Top vid as per mate ❤
Nice neat wiring looks a proper job now. Good straight car that, can’t wait to see what else is wrong😂
It’s only little bits really, just Dream Car Giveaways like them spot on 👍
Genius 👍
Thanks Gerald 👍👍
I knew you'd have to make it look sweet, it was a mess surprisingly
Nice job and sweet looking car
Cheers Big Keg, hope your well mate. Hoo Roo 👍
Professional!
Cheers buddy 👍👍
Mint content loved the Cleo rebuild even entered the giveaway
Nice mate, hope you win it 🤞
Great video.
Changing the subject from Escort to Mini.
What's happening with the Mini rebuild?
Still got both, stripped the red one and there’s not much left on the old girl. Will get the paying jobs done then have another crack at them.
Tidy job 😊👍👍
Cheers Martin 👍👍
first job on my list: get some decent sized wheels on it. it looks like a skateboard.
Great car!
How you getting on with Corsa?
Another great video. 👍🏻
Still in the welding stage, just getting a few smaller jobs out the way first 👍
Don’t like the huge rev counter would prefer the proper clock set out if a sport etc
Never mind though very cool car
Needs a Mexico front spoiler too
For something that is so minimalist and clean looking on the outside, the dash is a mess
You are absolutely meticulous, I love it…….. and I’m still dreaming that one day……..

Stunning car paul 👌🏽 love a old ford mk2 escort was it James Harris old car that had the 22 on the side 👌🏽👍🏼
Cheers buddy, no idea who’s it was. Deffo a mint car 😍💪
Nice work ❤
Cheers Marcus 👍👍
Wot happened to the c20let corsa b you was doing for the car competition
Still doing it, it’s on a spit and I’m doing the welding at the mo,… well once I’ve finished this.
Great job wishing i still had some of the mk2 escorts I used to own 👍
I know, the prices of them are soo much now ££
They could of jsut replaced the dash borad gauge custer with a cortina with with the rev gauge in it already 😅
The programmable Ecu trigger output for the Rev gauge is different so would not work with a cortina cluster 😅
@ODDAutos now I understand why they did that I got a v6 essex in my escort in South Africa using the gagues of a mk5 cortina v6 works perfectly and look OME.😅
Lovely car and colour, wheels a bit small though.
It’s crazy power going through those little wheels, great for sideways fun.
Looking at that wiring I’d have to pull the lot out and start again. Typical 40 year old escort wiring loom.
Great job as always mate. I would just put an RS Dash in though, looks much better and cleaner too. Cracking looking car!
Yes maybe a job in the future, saves you driving looking down at those 👍
Definitely the RS dash IMHO
I quite enjoy sorting wiring but why is it always in awkward places?
That’s true, always find the cut zip ties that people leave long rip into the back of your hands too! Painful 🤣
Nice video, beautiful car 👍
Cheers buddy 👍
Lovely car great video
Thank you matey 👍
What are the wheels called
Holy hell, that wiring was a proper shit show. No wonder so many old cars go up in smoke! Those old torpedo fuses are absolute garbage. You've done a great job of simplifying and tidying there Paul!
Cracking job matey. Keep em coming and the escort looks great 😊😊
Cheers Dave 👍👍
Did the fuel pump run with the kill switch off.
No mate, kill switch is battery cut off.
Great job on that wiring loom mate.
Cheers Si, thanks for getting the temp sender for me. Fitted spot on 👍
Glad to see you tidying up the rats nest. Years ago when installing car audio systems I use to shake my head at what some installers use to do leaving long lengths of wire instead of shortening and soldering and of course heat shrinking the solder joints
Don’t forget the scotch-locks 🫤. They always came loose too 👍
Lovely little car well done 👍
Thanks Lyndon 👍👍

It’s mega nice 😍
Thank god you done that harness it made me ill seeing that, top job matey 👍🏻
Cheers Tess 👍👍 tidy job now
Great job and lovely mk2. Wheres keith?
Cheers buddy 👍👍
Nice tidy job perfection again matey 👌
Cheers Vinny, can’t kick those wires off now 👍
Nice, I'd love one lol
Cheers Dave 👍👍
What a beaut❤
It’s a stunner 😍
Spot on as usual.
Great content as always.
Best C
Brill thanks Carl, glad you liked it matey 👍
i would love to have a bog standard mk 2 escort as thats what i passed my driving test in back in 1986
They are great fun to drive, makes everyone you pass smile 👍
I will be buying a ticket for that yoke!!
Yes David! Wish I could too 👍
What's happened to the rest of the team?
Arrrrrisss
👍👍
Id of just got a set of rs clocks and done away with the daft gauges 👍
That’s what I’ve got on my mk2, need to buy an adapter box that goes in between the Omex ecu and the Rev gauge to make mine work.
Great job mate. Will have a crack at that when it comes up.
Trying to live the MK2 dream here but customers keep interrupting it 😂 ATB Gaz..
Good luck 🤞 hope you win it 👍
If I win it it’s straight back to your shop for the rally treatment like your red one 😉
It’s a deal!! 👍
vue depuis la france.
Cheers Michel 👍
Bonsoir Michel , très rare même en France ces mk2 … j’ai vu un, à rénover, 6000 euros 😢
@@preonmodel9906 j ai eu une mk1 et 2 mk2 avec la calandre 4 phares
The wiring was a mess. Why do people do that? The rest of the car looks pretty tidy then you get a birds nest under the dash. Weird.
I know, think the best comment so far said it looked like a terrorists backpack ha ha
