New investors and the whole mass buyout has just created an expectation to get free money for buying cardboard. I enjoy the old MTG and the new digimon for collecting. This video was needed to remind people what collecting is about. Money is a side reward for something you love

This is how Rudy can sell 15cents card for 1K ... but then loses trust and respect from others who don't believe in "Rich are welcomed, poor fk off" things. And to add fuel to fire just go burn leftover cards to show ppl it's just worthless 15 cents crap ... nobody will go burn those cards they paid 1K for ... :)
It could've made a whole lot of difference if those cards were sold for $10-20 and those simple folks who likes Rudy has a chance to own something they like ... and if the price go up they have more food for Xmas. This is why ppl who watch crap like Logan Paul bcome mental degens. Every card has value from the design to being printed as an item to own ... not printed to be used as coal to inflate prices.

This video is really hitting home right now. Just about every person in my life looks at me like I've lost my mind when I tell them I don't want to slave away at a factory job, and that I'd rather find a job I enjoy. "Well a job's a job, you're not supposed to enjoy it, you're just there to make money." That's my grandpa's life advice for me.

I doubt you’ll see this, but one of the most important lessons I’ve learned watching your channel over the years is to stay the course. I’ve had that philosophy for probably a decade now, but there have been so many times where it has conflicted with another very important philosophy of mine: to trust my first instinct. It was always a matter of deciding which to prioritize over the other and I tended to go with my gut above all else. Ever since I found your channel around 2017 your advice, both directly and indirectly through the business decisions you’ve made, has helped to keep staying the course at the front of my mind and taking it into consideration a lot more often when making decisions financial or otherwise. I have a much steadier hand now and it’s paid off exponentially for me. You’re at least somewhat to thank for that and I appreciate everything you’ve contributed to this platform over the years. Thank you Rudy.
    Merry Christmas!

I don't even say that, and I love what I do for a living. Though, I knew a guy who did say/think that way, and it was when I was a teen at McDonald's of all places. The guy was born in some African country (can't remember) and got his citizenship here, and he loved working and loved providing things for his family he said he could never have done in Africa.

I'm still buying at least one MTG collector box of every set since they started with Throne in 2019. And I buy a few vintage nice cards (dual lands mostly as I see them as a very liquid commodity inside the collectible card world). But since 12 months ago my extra money is going to FAB sealed boxes. And as of some weeks ago I have started to incursion in FAB (mainly cold foil) singles. I have more faith in FAB long term than in MTG. And the general culture and aesthetics of the game are on another level (similar to the feel one got from MTG in the nineties with Mirage, and Tempest and Urza). Trust me: in 5 years people are not going to believe a RF Heart of Fyendal was 300 usd (even if it drops to 200 in the short term).

Great video Rudy. You know, having a hobby or collection of exotic items (watches, art, collectables, etc) and holding 1-2% of a portfolio in exotic assets is a totally reasonable investment portfolio. I would be buying and playing MTG cards even if they were worth pennies, oh wait 90% of them are lol... That being said I am glad to have a hobby where I can also see it as a potential asset I could chose to sell someday... Not sure I ever will, but having the option to reclaim some, all, or even profit from my hobby is great!

What some people don´t understand is, that esspecially the top two brand "Magic" and "Pokemon" have reached the 25th Annniversary.
We had only 1 Special Set "Masters 25" with Magic, and with Pokemon we had "20th Celebrations" and now "25th Generations".
In the future will come the 30th, 40th and 50th Anniversary of Magic and Pokemon.
So in total we had 3 decks in 25 years, but now we will see 6 decks coming in the next 25 years.
Every Anniversary will bring a small hype and the older stuff will get more expensive.
In the older days the people thought that LEGO would be expensive in the future, but now they realize that LEGO are just generic
plastic stones which everyone can produce. On top the plastic stuff will last forever when you don´t bleach it in the sun.
With the trading cards we have the advantage that the cards are only printed in a small window frame that´s it.
When you wanna get your invested money back, changing times and instabil future, the people will still play card games but what makes
the "Fun" of the game? Ripping the Booster Packs and not buying the single cards.
So in the future you can only make money when you have bought the product at a cheap point and then to have it ready to sell when
    the time comes.
It´s the same with the silver coins. Got some coins from 2015 and now these coins cost almost double the price.
The ressources in the world go down, but the people still want everything and now it costs more and more....
It´s just the same loop what we had several times in the past.

I will only buy 100e + cards in future to be able to sell them by myself in future. I know the timmy story but didnt add the factor that finland has only 1 shop to sell the cards so there is no other option for bigger collection sell and get cash asap.. It was big sacrifice to make for obtaining money for new (good)tv that i use with pc.
I miss my N/M pixie queen but will come back after 3 years and obtain her once again.

I love spending money on my hobby which I enjoy whilst not *consuming*. The things I buy might gain value over time. It's unlikely they'll lose value. And that, is MINT!

This was me last year on your modern format video. I kept all my staples and didn't sell because I actually play the format. Now I could easily make 10k if I sold my decks

Illuminati is awesome. I still have my collection I picked up on eBay back in the 90s and my factory set.

Thanks Rudy. There are a lot of memes and jokes and the like on this channel, which are great. But these down to earth office chats are really refreshing. Stay the course

17:47 “Rudy we are going to bankrupt everything… I DONT GIVE A SHIT, ride it to the GROUnD” … as a long term patreon… I approve that message .. in fact, I wish he would put that on an alpha investments shirt

I collect toys mostly as a hobby. After 4-5 years, I needed to clear some space and started selling the toys. It's amazing how on average each toy can be resold more than double and some for more. I still collect toys as a hobby but to a lesser extent.
