Wow. Thanks for the depressing video reminding me that I'm a 42 year old poor person that will almost certainly remain a poor person for the rest of my life. Right as we started to look for a house and cash in on all this work, and all this sacrificial discipline, the COVID crap hit and houses in my area are 30-40% higher than they were just a few years ago and I can't afford anything better than what I'm already in now. No dislikes = more ads they can place without angering the advertisers.
Which means mainstream media, late night shows, etc. can still get ad revenue no matter what non-sense they put out there or how majorly disliked it is. Its Corporatetube now, not TH-cam, this was the final change needed.
Can you further explain the "wash sale" story? My understanding of wash sales is they only count if the shares are sold for a loss and bought back in within 30 days but the the trade in that story wouldnt be considered a loss because the shares would be exercised for a profit, thus causing a taxable event and not eligible to be considered a wash sale. The story has been bothering me since watching the video yesterday so i thought i would just ask for further explanation in case im just stupid and missing something. Thanks for the awesome video, one of my favorites.
You are correct in your description what he described is not a wash sale. I actually paused the video and confirmed the correct definition because he mischaracterized it.
They have tons of disposable cash, they just don’t invest it. Go to a gas station sometime and hang out for a few minutes. Rich people certainly aren’t the ones going in there spending $100 on lottery tickets or buying cigarettes, beer, overpriced energy drinks, and snacks every day of their life. The same people who claim to be “barely scraping by” spend at least a car payment on cigarettes in a month.

People have always been bad with money, and most people always will be, so really what is the point you people are making?
I think Dividends are OK for a retirement account such as an IRA where you don't have a taxable event until you withdraw the money. The compounding by dividend reinvestment can be very good. There are some channels on youtube that talk about this exponential growth.

That is very interesting you mentioned Chimera! I actually bought Chimera last year around $7.9 and it's around $15 right now. I'm happy and thankful with my situation. I agree with what you mean about people not liking uncomfortable truths. I was born in poverty and want to get out. Understanding and accepting uncomfortable truths like the tax system and how wealthy people see money different from others early on really helped me get out of poverty.
This by far is one of your best videos. I was entertained, I learned something & even though the game may be tilted in an unfair way, knowing how it's played is 1/2 the battle. So I say game on! We Timmies are here to win!!!
Wow. I am totally poor. I live in Canada and I am disabled so cant work and will forever be on disability which only gives me $1000 a month to live on. That is suppose to pay my rent and utilities and food and medication and whatever else, $1000 a month...to pay for all that the rest of my life. I am sooo jealous and envious of you and just to listen to you talk about a world that I will never be apart of was kind of eye opening and depressing. Only way I think I'll ever get a million or even hundred thousand dollars is to play the lottery which I cant do becuz i am to poor. I am honestly living in poverty. This life has got me so low all i want to do is die and maybe I will reincarnate to a new life and maybe I will be dealt a better hand. Anyways sorry I made that comment on the other video and I hope everything continues to go good for you and I hope you do become a billionaire. God bless you.
Rudy, can you clarify one thing. In the story of the guy who bought the shares, had them appreciate, wrote covered calls, had them called away, and then repurchased you mentioned that he would get out of paying taxes on that buy re-entering the position. I don't believe that's correct. Can you review that part? I believe the wash sale only applies to stocks sold at a loss and not re-purchased within the 30 day window. Loved the video though, thanks!
People can say what they want about you Rudy down at the local Taco Bell or Washer/Dryer repair shop but you are one of the best channels to watch. I love these financial videos just as much as the MTG videos.
I know they do not garner allot a views Rudy but I really get allot out of these videos. I could use a few more like this, revolving financial knowledge, and ways to efficiently get your money to work for you. Thank you!
That’s the TL;DR of it. His Elon Musk example is an example of this too. Musk was born rich and his dad gave him play money. Now he did well with it but 99.999% of people will never have that opportunity.
I understand that it's a possibility. I understand it can and does happen. I understand the roof is WITHOUT limit nearly, especially for those with already seemingly infinite capital. I even heard you mention the "leveraging against their lifestyle." But what I can never, ever help but stop wondering is "Why?" To what end is all of this for? What's the motivation? Simply growing wealth because someone can? I don't understand how/why it seems to never feel like enough no matter how wealthy a person is. That's the fundamental misunderstanding I have with capitalism, once it stops being about survival, I cannot understand the purpose. What's the point of growing wealth forever? Is it archaic from survival days? I don't think so, because there are so many generationally wealthy people that have no wealth-growing survival necessity instinct... Is it for.. Simply the sake of doing it? It seems so incredibly purpose-less... I just don't understand that piece.
Would love to see more vids like this Rudy. The past year I've been digging deep into the financial crimes that happen in this country every day and yet nobody goes to jail. It's become extremely depressing for me. Almost seems like the only way to get up that metaphorical slope you speak of is to lie, cheat, steal, or get very lucky. But I was raised better.
Damn I love this kinds of videos. I have them on background while i work, almost like if it was a FloppyTacoCast, or ParentsBasementCast. Keep em coming Rudy
Rudy, I make 75K a year and have almost zero savings. I approve this video. This is TRUTH. Money-making is complex, ONCE you're wealthy (not rich) ... once you're WEALTHY, it's easy. Unfairly easy.
Less than 1% will actually understand everything that was explained, because they haven't seen this in action for themselves. You've been very fortunate to have a great circle of influence friend. Most people will need to progress forward with traditional finance investing because of the capital limitations you've discussed. The key here is for those people who come from generational wealth or happen to really strike it big via business or other investment opportunities. It would be nice to only have to think about tax avoidance investing strategies, but I'm thankful I have food on my plates, house over my head, good health with an average intellect. Happy holidays everyone. May the new year bring you lots of prosperity, hope and good health.
With the finance videos Yes alot of people want you to spoonfeed them an answer to their own struggles, but when you have the drive I feel these financial videos are still important for telling people that aren't even vaguely aware about how wealthy people play a different game with their money than the average american.

Rudy, Mr. Taco God with the hair in the basement, thank you for discussing the contents of this video. I got hungry yesterday and had no food to eat, so I ate my mother's last two candy bars. I knew in two days I would get SNAP benefits and I would be able to replace them without her knowing. Unfortunately she found out. Now, 5 hours from now when my SNAP benefits go through I will buy those two candy bars and replace them. In a hungry man's mind, no harm occurred. In reality, I showed my weakness to my mother and the next time I get hungry and have no food to eat I will steal from someone who has more than just two candy bars. I have a job, I work 60 hours a week. And I can't afford a candy bar. Someone who chastises me for not "investing" my extra income makes me wonder... What the fuck is extra income?

Wow very insightful, real world education here thank you honestly
Rudy, when it comes to Wealth Management, you are one of the most knowledgeable content creators in the TCG market. Who was the person that influenced you the most?
this is why I'm subscribed. I am grateful for the knowledge you share.
Only thing missing here was the pink visor, Rudy dropping knowledge today ladies n gents!
I love the finance videos Rudy! Keep them coming.
Bro your videos about finance are literally the most worthy videos i ever watched
This by far is one of your best videos. I was entertained, I learned something & even though the game may be tilted in an unfair way, knowing how it's played is 1/2 the battle. So I say game on! We Timmies are here to win!!!
Rudy if you do educational videos like this im gonna watch each one
Anyways I just found your channel from pokemon cards and I thought you were taking cards away from kids and the pokemon community but seeing this video made me realize your side of it.
Anyways sorry I made that comment on the other video and I hope everything continues to go good for you and I hope you do become a billionaire.
God bless you.
11 minutes in and it's one of the best videos on TH-cam. I always watch to the end even though Rudy normally says no one watches to the end.
Haha... 21 min in Rudy said his first... No one's watching.
Rudy is the Florida Man you been reading about in the news... 😆 😂 🤣
These videos are fantastic. I don't listen to your normal content for collectibles. I'm subscribed for the days you post these gems.
I could use a few more like this,
revolving financial knowledge, and ways to efficiently get your money to work for you.
Thank you!
Love these types of videos the COVID dip was real. A buy on VTI index March 2020 doubled in value 1 year later
The Moral: the key to being rich is being born rich. that's it.
That’s the TL;DR of it. His Elon Musk example is an example of this too. Musk was born rich and his dad gave him play money. Now he did well with it but 99.999% of people will never have that opportunity.
Rudy, screaming: "DO YOU UNDERSTAND!!!"
Me, sobbing: "N...No.. No I don't Rudy I don't :("
Yeah i understand why people want to be rich but after like 400 million what are you doing? What are you planning to buy?😂
Good job Rudy. I really liked this video. Also, i get stressed watching you throw your boxes around before opening them. :).
Oh boy, hold on to your tacos folks.
Rudy, more of this please!
I haven't been this mad since I watched The Big Short! Thanks for hitting me with your hard Truth Taco Rudy!
Just found this video a year later and this is gold. Thanks, Rudy!
Love the financial vids! Ready Rudy could be a high school economics teacher.
With the finance videos
Yes alot of people want you to spoonfeed them an answer to their own struggles, but when you have the drive I feel these financial videos are still important for telling people that aren't even vaguely aware about how wealthy people play a different game with their money than the average american.
Rudy the financial educator and macroeconomic analyzer are the best videos
Listening to Rudy talk about basic level stock information is the most entertaining thing I've heard all year, mostly because I know half the people watching are actually learning something new.
Classic Rudy vid, putting out some knowledge, profanity, telling people they'll feel bad when watching, good video hahaha.
I love when Rudy drops a truth spin ! Please keep making more of these ! Ps. I did learn something .
Rudy is the ultimate Florida man, prove me wrong.
I literally had my hands on my head pulling my hair while listening to this. I have sizable equities in my brokerage but stupid me never even thought of trying to get margin. Wow! I'll talk to my advisor asap
Be very careful with buying on margin. It can go very badly.
This is how lives can get ruined. Not a good time in the market cycle for leverage wait for next crash
Plain and Simple: Thank you, Rudy.
I would recommend a stiff drink 🍹 , a comfy chair 🪑 and a spare 30 minutes ⏰ before you press play
Thus video really bummed me out
If I had the money, I'd be calling you TODAY to buy your ENTIRE alpha/beta collection. 6-7 million?? No problem, here ya go 💰💰💰
Poor People... Finally Something is Qualified to talk about... 🤑 😁 🥳
This is probably the most important video Rudy has put out there! Thanks, Rudy!
I’m all about being brutally honest with broke people . People were with me and my life has changed so much. Drill sergeant that shit.
I know nothing about trading cards. I just like hearing Rudy talk.
Rudy, Mr. Taco God with the hair in the basement, thank you for discussing the contents of this video. I love your channel because you aren’t afraid to talk about the reality of collectibles, investing, and now, the realities of capitalism. It takes big nuts and a party pack with half the step-sisters in the county to do that. So thank you sir. Keep it real!
Rudy your longer-form financial and life videos are golden, Think your on to something here :D
LETS GO
Love the thumbnail. I love these types of videos and just listening about how things really are in the financial world
I got hungry yesterday and had no food to eat, so I ate my mother's last two candy bars.
Rudy, these are some of my favorite videos you make. This information is exactly what people need to know. Thank you for your amazing insight man!
No Pink Visor or White Board, but a great video nonetheless.
Thank you for sharing this info with the masses.
I first learned about leverage against investments a couple of years ago and it blew my mind. I always thought the rich just had the advantage of long term cap gains vs income tax but had no idea they weren’t even selling the stock at all!
🤯
I personally love these kinds of videos. Keep doing them!
