I learned playing catch up is losing. I knew about the power of compounding gains but I went "Nah man I'm gonna sell AMD for Micron Calls" in 2018. AMD would have made several hundred thousand over a few years, the MU calls I was confident in 10x ing in a few months expired worthless. I ended up with less money to invest on the Covid dip. I'd be a millionaire if I just chilled on investing my spare income from 2017 instead of hoarding it on YOLO plays

Held for a few years and sold it for what I bought it for even tho it was a undervalued stock and obviously was worth more. But it wasn't moving. And everything else was. I should have held it. Cause HOOOO boy, did seeing me lose like 30% or so of a few thousand dollars was one hell of a feeling. But I just left it all in there and has been very nice these past 13 years.
Have someone in a Discord who I feel like I argue with here and there for no other reason than the fact I am always trying to remind him to think a card set will not go up or will do worse and go down. Cause they seem to have an attitude that, no matter what, EVERY card product only goes up.

I think the best thing about Rudy's financial videos - beyond the nostalgic pink financial visor cap - is his candor. Trying to keep financial advise simple and down to earth - that can be challenging and yet - he does it with gusto. Downside risk is a huge part of investing - one has to be willing to eat losses with a smile - but there's choices too. Do you double down and cost-average? Do nothing? Sell into a storm? (Never do this) Investing must be done stoically and never emotionally. It's a rollercoaster that if one is overleveraged, you won't be simply feeling nauseous on the way down - you will likely lose your lunch too; know your limits, stick within it.

I got hosed... -35% over night. You are right, but I have to admit, the adrenaline you get from trading is something I cannot find elsewhere... I started to work as a surgeon one year ago. Within the first months of seeing people dying or being diagnosed with some crap you get numbed.... otherwise you get crazy. Trading added some juice to my life. Sounds wrong, I know. Was playing with big money for me (50K eur), but being 27, no family to take care of, earning well, it is nothing devastating. The funny thing is, that I didn't cashed out the 18,5K profits, because I didn't have anything I wanted to buy, that I already don't have.

This is like 15 years ago now. Sure enough, that stuff just rises 15-20% a year. I've always wanted to start doing that myself but I'm one of those poors that needs the x10 to get anywhere. Managed a x5 on CLOV call options in June and now only up about x2 after this latest hit. Thankfully shares and not options so unrealized.

If you lose $1100, you are not only down $1100, but you are down the 26% you have to pay in finance charges charged by the card as well, because now you are holding that product for months and months waiting for the loss to bounce back to a positive. Your $11,000 borrowed purchase, can become $12k, $13k, $14k over time and in actuality, you'll end up LOSING way more than you invested. ALWAYS invest with equity. Borrow only what you know you can flip immediately and pay back to avoid finance charges.

These days inflation is the silent killer. With purchasing power decreasing 10-15% a year if you make 7% unfortunately you're not keeping up...

Yeah, endless money printing is going to kill all those who don’t have assets that can ride the wave of inflation.

This is exactly why I never go into debt on my MTG investment. Wouldn't be surprised if plenty of Timmys don't bother taking taxation into account.
For every $1000 you make, the state could be taking up to 40% of that depending on the scale of your operation.

If you can't make 20%/30% profits, there's no chance you can keep up with recent inflation at 7% annually.

    • @Syntaxstic

BINGO. Most people have to make 30 percent just to stay even.

Rudy the 4-7% is about 25 years obsolete. Nowadays if you sell something (exception stocks / cryptos) you have so many 3th parties you need to pay a % ebay tcg postal postal insurace paypal creditcard its an easy 20% and thats excluding tax and vat that 20% is on the total price not the price you bought it for eg. bbox $100 = $80 but you pay 100 10 years 5% (not compounding i know 150 sell cost 20% net without tax = 120 - 100 buy price profit 20 if you have free storage and no risk of theft and 15-30 minutes of unpaid labour to post respond package and go to the postal office. and thats pretty bad for 10 years i know stuff like mtg is a lot higher butt it is not liquid. you take all that risk buy 1000 units and sell 1 a month after 10 years it sucks, i think the rent you can ask for the dimensions of a bbox would net you a lot more than 20. Not trying to say you are wrong, I mean it works for you you have a direct clientèle.
