Congrats on this one. That keyboard mod including a firmware side to it as well as the physical fitting and work on the ribbon cable was certainly not trivial so good job. I'll be back to watch part 3.

I love it haha. With a lil bit of know how, it can take you q long way. When it comes to modding thinkpads the community can be so creative.

Nice VCR you got there, also this gen of the ThinkPad T series is definitely on my wish list, but I'm thinking of spending some time on my Desktops which need more love

I really need to give my rusty PC AT some love at some point…it needs it.
Are you gonna join the stream on Saturday? Would be nice to see you there!

@@3lectr1c there's a stream planned?, well heck yes! Sure I'm available on Saturday.
I also recommend installing the original ThinkPad wallpaper on the login screen it gives it a more authentic feel especially when I used T570s in School.

Do you have a link for that? I’d totally swap that out if you can get a 1080p quality version of it.
And yes I’d love to see you at the stream! If I’m doing my math right, I should be live at around 1PM UK time.

@@3lectr1c I don't have a link at the moment but I could definitely share it in the live chat on Saturday if I remember.

Live chat blocks links I believe - but I may have the ability to see them? It’s been a long time since I’ve streamed, and I didn’t have chat on last time.

In case any of you missed my community post:
Announcement: This coming Saturday (October 14th), I will be going LIVE at around 2PM EST for a 4 and a half hour Tetris marathon! I'm doing this to compete in bigmessowires' Tetrix Max contest, in which the winner will receive $100 to spend on his online store (he's the guy who sells the Floppy Emu, Rominator II, and other neat things).
If you'd like to hang out, chat, whatever, join in then!
More info on the contest is available here: 68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/announcing-the-tetris-max-high-score-contest-october-14.45486/
NOTICE: I previously said I’d be live at 8AM, I got the timed mixed up. I’ll be live at 2PM.

this would really be fun for my thinkpad t530, i might do something like this soon!

    • @3lectr1c
      @3lectr1c  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

It’s entirely possible on the T530. I’d absolutely recommend it!

This makes me so happy to see! I just started my t430 build! Currently installed the classic keyboard, with backlight. CPU and FRU in the mail.
Out of curiosity are you running the dgpu model?

    • @3lectr1c

Backlit class is keyboard? Is that a mod, because I don’t believe there was a backlit 7 row for these?
Mine is not the dgpu model. I’m honestly glad though, I’m guessing things would get pretty toasty with a 45W i7 Quad and the DGPU. Plus, having one does decrease the reliability a bit for not much performance gain honestly. I am going to have to order a DGPU heat sink though when I do buy a 3840QM for it.
I’ve been loving mine so far. I’ve daily drove it since I got the battery in and it’s been working great. Battery health has dropped to ~60% which isn’t ideal, but the main point of getting the 9 cell is that I’d get it rebuilt at some point. It’s still usable as is though.
