That was really good! didn't expect it here, at all. I did something similar with v.keys and distortion, but more subtle. I have a video of it, with analog tape and so on.
Just need this to loop for a couple hours cranked up. The neighbors probably would be scared to complain. You hear a knock have a screaming oneshot .wav file ready to go 😂
Mate. Some seriously clever programming. I swear I am getting so much more out of my peak because you use it for videos like this. Very, very inspirational.
Dude, that outro was borderline pornographic... Seriously though, I love following along on my peak when you start making these patches, it’s like a synth version of “art attack”. Thank you so much for these insanely high quality videos bro✌🏻peace and love!
ricky it’s just simple pleasure to just listen to you just talking about basically anything, and especially if it’s about synths then it’s so much more pleasing 🙃 such a nice tutorial about this great tip that you can use in any hardware or software synths :)) also the sound demo for the outro is just 😂🖤 chef’s kiss
Outro is so sick man right through the heart indeed. Thank you for the peak videos. It seems rare to find people who are pushing the boundaries of it and the Summit and they are such beautiful instruments.
ricky your depth of feeling is so palpable and brings tears to my eyes. aside from that...this tutorial was epic. me and my Peak thank you for bringing us closer. More, please.
Really appreciate these. Sometimes I get stuck in a patch rut, and it's nice to have some inspiration, and some tips. Thanks for sharing that knowledge. :)
Mind > blown (also, my eardrums). OMG, my face just melted. Got a bit of a Sunn 0))) vibe going with that outro. Ricky, you need to start a second channel with just this type of sound design content.
This was great because I've had so many moments with my Peak where I'm like, "ya...no...that's not it...no wait..that is how it works!" It is one of my fav synths but definitely different in workflow from almost everything else
I’ve not had any equipment in almost a decade (maybe again in nearish future!) but I still watch Ricky’s videos. 😂 He just makes it so watchable, the opposite of reading manuals etc.
Super inspiring, dude. I've been using key tracking on my Summit for a couple months now and... even just a little of it on anything makes the whole patch better. Loved the outro!
Haven't heard the Peak get that dirty before. Usually it sounds much more clean and lush, not rude or angry. Thanks for taking it into less common territory for us!
Oh boy, another amazing Peak video, you need to do more Peak, at least 3 time a week, no pressure, no need to come up with stuff nobody except you knows, just jam some stuff! Peace
That was a Synth Drop at the end of that video! As for Gauntlet whenever i saw Death rooming the rooms my heart would speed up. Your Sonic outro reminds me of the movie Mandy. thx again for another killer Peak vid.
Hhahaha, dude your videos are funny at the same time! You don't even edit your brainfarts out of them :) much more enjoyable then the usually speedup jumpcut edit videos out there. I enjoy watching your videos, keep em coming!
Thx for showing the whole process including the problems and temporal confusion. This is me all the time. On most occassions I lose myself in the settings and parameters and lose the inspiration :-(
Bro. You should modulate the key tracking with a really long attack that sends it back to zero. Then the different lfo rates will all meet up at the same frequency as long as you let the chord ring out enough. The lfos of all the voices coming together and synching would sound dope
I've set up my Grandmother to key track the LFO speed or amout, can be an interesting sound. Slow swirling/pulsing bass notes, fast stuttering high notes. Using the LFO to modulate more than one thing can create kinda faux bi-timbral sounds.
I'd say you have a hair in your key-tracked eye, uh oops? Not that... I've always loved filter key tracking! The Roland XP50 was the very first proper synthesizer to introduce that to me, and I totally swallowed it up when making user patches on in. I honestly liked the way it sounded. Now with a VST called SurgeXT, I relive the roland days all over again, sometimes in teardrops.
Key tracking can also be used (in many modulars) to change the times of an envelope, so (for example) higher notes have shorter envelopes... (key tracking affecting the rates of asynchronous (unsynced) LFOs sounds really cool!, and on a modular, using key tracking to change the portamento time gives chords where each note takes a different time to get to the final note... Key tracking of LFOs (lower notes get slower vibrato rates, etc.) can give very natural-sounding results, because people tend to do faster vibrato with higher notes... Key tracking of chorus LFOs gives nice pad depth too...
@@alejandropnt The keyboard/pitch CV is what you use for key tracking, so all you need is a utility module that can scale(attenuate/amplify)/invert the voltage (and maybe add or subtract an offset). For conventional (higher notes have more effect) then you just use the keyboard/pitch CV as is, but for reverse use (higher notes have less effect) then you just invert (and offset) the keyboard/pitch CV. On a Keystep, then you would just use the 'Pitch CV'. The key technique for applying key tracking is to remember that you just need to set two extremes: 1. The lowest CV value (and what it controls) - set by the offset. 2. the highest CV value (and what it controls) - set by the scale. Note that if you invert the pitch CV, then the lowest CV value will be the highest note, and vice-versa!. So for an LFO (for higher note = faster rate), you would find the slowest LFO rate that you want, and offset the pitch CV so that the lowest note gives that rate of LFO. Then for the highest note, scale the pitch CV so that you get the faster LFO rate. This method gives a linear change - with more advanced processing (non-linear, exponential, power-law, etc. processors then you can have key scaling that has different mappings to the notes. Often, people only use the keyboard/pitch CV in modulars for driving oscillators, but using it for key scaling can provide a lot of additional subtlety, detail and sophistication to modular sound generation and control...
Hey Ricky I think the first source slots are "Scaled" by the second, not gated. A good way to demonstrate this is Source 1 LFO, Source 2 Mod wheel, Dest Pitch. And with the key tracking example in the beginning, you couldn't hear the high notes because the cutoff was lower than the fundamental pitch of the note and filter keytracking wasn't enabled and so the note was above the cutoff point.
While on loop w the outro, i was wondering if you would ever consider making a video about trying/testing different wavetables on peak and also with custom wavetables? 🥺🙂
Спасибо бро! Ты очень хорошо объяснил, что такое key tracking - теперь я понял, что это и как это работает!!!!.... В конце- вообще какое-то звуковое безумие создал!!!!;)))))
this outro is fucking insane
Like a mad oscillator scientist! This would be great for some scenes from The Expanse. Thanks for taking us on the journey!
Where does that growling/distortion like sound @13:45 comes from?
@@studio48nl the filter has got an overdrive and after that you can dail in analogue distortion as part of the effects section.
@@Alphonso_026 ah thanks! It sounds great!
I seriously expected to see thick smoke pouring up out of the Peak during the outro. Great stuff.
That outro was absolutely disgusting. Best thing I've heard out of the Peak I think.
blade runner style
That was really good! didn't expect it here, at all. I did something similar with v.keys and distortion, but more subtle. I have a video of it, with analog tape and so on.
Yeah man we want Ambiente from ricky
Just need this to loop for a couple hours cranked up. The neighbors probably would be scared to complain. You hear a knock have a screaming oneshot .wav file ready to go 😂
I stuck around for the outro. OMG. In fact watching your thought processes turn into music is gold. Learning heaps. Peace.
Drop that noise album.
Outro was so good it should have it's own channel.
Mate.

Outro is so sick man right through the heart indeed.
Thank you for the peak videos. It seems rare to find people who are pushing the boundaries of it and the Summit and they are such beautiful instruments.
The OUTRO -------- face melt! Brilliant. Sounded like Trent Reznor soundtrack from Gone Girl!
ricky your depth of feeling is so palpable and brings tears to my eyes.

The outro is like the soundtrack for a sci-fi movie that hasn't been made yet.

Mind blown. Unbelievable what you can get out of a synth.
Great vid. Enjoyed taking the journey with you and looking forward to taking that back to my Summit and making some noise.
Gotta love how you fill “simple“ concepts like key tracking with so much life (& heart)!
Amazing video and amazing synth, oh and I loved Gauntlet too!

All yours video so relax! Very very comfortable lesson to watch !
Yes, I learn something from each and every of your videos with the Peak. Having this synth myself I love to watch how you make it sing. Thank you!
I’ve not had any equipment in almost a decade (maybe again in nearish future!) but I still watch Ricky’s videos. 😂 He just makes it so watchable, the opposite of reading manuals etc.
Another sick session with Peak !! You're good with that thing man !!
Love the result! And special thanks for the thinking process of making this sound.
Outro is pure gold. Film score level drama.
Excellent video again! That outro alleviated my need to get my teeth cleaned. That was awesome!
Super inspiring, dude. I've been using key tracking on my Summit for a couple months now and... even just a little of it on anything makes the whole patch better. Loved the outro!
Holy shit that outro was badass! Peak shows why modern, analog synths with some digital features is the way to go.
Haven't heard the Peak get that dirty before. Usually it sounds much more clean and lush, not rude or angry. Thanks for taking it into less common territory for us!
Now that just sounds amazing love it, and, I learnt more about ketracking. Thankyou.
You show something new to me with the Peak every time man thank you
Hey Ricky! I just bought my Peak! So keen for it to arrive!
Seriously love your stuff dude. Such an incredible vibe, and super helpful. You're a huge inspiration man.👍
+1 for Gautlet. Who did you pick? I usually rocked the Valkyrie.
"Red wizard is about to die"
Elf or Valkyrie
@DcTurner hahahah
I usually ran archer
Wizard needs food, badly
inspiring stuff, as usual and that outro was really something. thx for sharing
Brilliant as always - much appreciated Ricky - love your Peak explorations.
Around 5:11 is where the money is. That pad movement is sick
That Outro just sold another thousand Peaks! ... Or maybe 500 Summits. Great stuff!
When using LFO 1 or 2 if you just want a fade in you’ve already got one built in. Love the key tracking for speed, I’ve never done that. 😗👌
Love your sound design videos. I wish there where more like these on TH-cam.
Holy shit! That destruction at the end would crumble worlds
Wow Ricky! The outro is amazing! Thanks for sharing your sound design process. Inspirational and interesting!
Glad you dug it! Thanks for hanging
Outra jam sounding like it's coming from another planet!
Absolutely amazing sound!
Cool. I'm a little lost but I'm no synth expert. Great video and so nicely demonstrated as always. Love the outro too.

So many people seem to ditch their Peak for being "too digital" sounding...like wut...I want it NOW
yea, it has a TON of analog circuitry and if you push it. its amazing
You've gotta work work with your parameters to make the sounds you want.
Do Not Forget to Save The Patches You Create!

The lead out was supper freaking cool
I freakin' love Novation filters.I have old X-Station, and and it can SCREAM. Just turn filter normalization to 0 and push it thru distortion :D
You are a synth wizard damn
Very inspiring vid, thanks
beautiful outro, should be proud of it.
omggg that outro sounds like something from blade runner 2049, amazing!
reminds me of blade runner 2047 sounds. wow. cool stuff.
ps. this channel deserves a subscription btw.
Right into my heart too 👍❤️
daaamn that outro gave me chills
In the zone big time at the end!
Amazing sound design
The outro could easily be the soundtrack to a horror movie...
Awesome video, gorgeous sound.
"right through the heart" ❤️
That outro.... wow. If Jimi Hendrix played a Peak...
Gauntlet lol - SO MANY QUARTERS!!! Warrior Needs Food - Warrior Needs Food Badly - Warrios is about to die - WHAH WHAH WHAH!!!
That end escalated quickly hahaha
I've never commented on a video before but I have to now...that outro was fucking dope
can we please get this in a sample pack. Take ALL of my money please
Yes, Peak sounds great, i have to admit.. I wish it was cheaper !
