Not really a classic sound per say, but with a Juno like oscillator or something like it (i use the basic engine on the MicroFreak) modulate the pulse width and the filter for a plucky bass sound, with some sub bass added into it. On my MicroFreak it cuts through the mix instantly and is my go to bass sound.

Juno sound, Jupiter sound - actually not sure I could tell the difference! I recently got a Peak and have a JD-Xi, I played a Juno String sound on the JD-Xi ( #004 "JUNO Str 1" ) and was extremely disappointed with the Peak getting nowhere near to it.
This bugged me, a lot. So 2 days of tweaking the Peak and I have something pretty close (about 90-95% there) although now I have a much greater respect for reverb and chorus effects in general!
Actually I respect the JD-Xi a bit more as I had been seeing it as a bit of a toy, but mainly I realised I really just want a Juno - well, not a real one, a version of it that is analogue or as close as that you can't tell it's not analogue (and no alalogue drift/tuning issues) and I don't want a soft synth.
So this leads me to System-8 vs Juno-X (or accuracy vs playability), and I don't know which way I need to go, I just like the Juno sound!
....Or I possibly just need to program in some new presets for the Peak which are just as close? Is this possible?

If we want to focus purely on patches that would teach an important, foundational concept with as few components as possible, I'd say the 2010-ish dubstep screech bass is about as important as the FM bass (and uses an almost identical setup!):
    1. Take two sine waves, one low (ideally in the sub-bass 20-100 Hz Range), and one high - traditionally four octaves up.
    2. Route them both out of the mixer at equal volume.
    3. Distort the frick out of them!
This sound really defined the early brostep era, and is a wonderful introduction to the world of waveshaping as a synthesis and sound design tool. You can play with the distortion algorithm, the distance in pitch between the two sine waves, and even the waveforms themselves - though much like with FM, the simpler the wave the cleaner the result - to expand beyond the basic patch.

I dunno about other gear, but Trogly (Trogly’s Guitar Show) runs a service where he will help folks obtain international gear. Mostly shit like Japanese-only limited release Fender guitars, but he seems like a nice guy who helps out whenever he can (and it’s economical for both parties). Where are you located? The Blade Runner patch is too much fun, thanks for this. Another addition to it is to go into the FX section and do these two things - Set TimeMode to HexVLoFi and play with the Output to your tastes, and in FxSlot set the Dest to Del Slew and up the Depth to again your personal tastes. This gives an additional tape type effect to the patch. For Voice Spread fun, set that to 60-something, change SpreadMode to Alternt and mess with the pan position. I love the Peak.

Thanks for the video. I suggest to use a -18dB filter for the 303-sound since the original has a -18dB filter. The -24dB filter is way to bassy and this makes a huge difference in my opinion, maybe it´s not available in the Peak and it´s better to go on with a free emulation or some free vst-FX like Tal-Filter II. It makes sence to put a distortion effect behind the tb-sound, try it out. Best regards

I need to think about my layout so I can use it more. It really is a lovely synth, and these patches demonstrate that. The Bladerunner lead was very close in terms of the sound, although for actual performance I prefer the Hydrasynth because it adds the missing magic ingredient of polyphonic aftertouch!

You can usually think of hardware synths as packaged sound generators and MIDI controllers, with or without a keyboard controller, too. The on-panel controls and keyboard are just sending MIDI messages to the underlying sound generation engine.
Don't take this as a given, but generally a hardware synth has all (and more) of its controls exposed to MIDI and/or SysEx commands for integration and automation. And you can also bi-directionally use them as MIDI controllers for other devices, too. Be sure to consult documentation and look at MIDI specifications for any synth in question though.

I was lucky to find ZZounds and ordered circuit tracks and bass station II because I thought it would cover my synth needs(LOL) But I was lucky because I could never drop $700 on gear like that at once. (still can't) Ever since I have been kinda waiting for the next Novation inspiration because I have gotten a lot more gear but not from novation. I tried to visit all the links, but most of them aren’t registering that I went there after several attempts. The service PC used for this is terrible, just for future reference. Thanks for trying though! I’d love a Peak.

Hey Cameron, you know that we from outside the US are obliged to express our hopes for a worldwide giveaway (as if you wouldn't think of it as well). So please forgive all those comments. Because your actual video content was once again helpful and to the point. I loved it! (Even though I'm from Germany🤣)

I'm certain the reason that it's US-only is because giveaways / contests are regulated by all sorts of laws, and it's just too complicated for a US company and a US youtuber to figure out how to meet the regulations elsewhere.

@@bengarland I know! In this case it's the sponsor, who isn't active internationally. That's why I apologized on behalf of all the comments about it. If Cameron gets a chance on an international giveaway, he will do so. He knows very well, that his audience is not just from the US.

Really sad that the giveaway only works for us citizens, but great video nonetheless!
