Now for the Vermont, USA terminology. I grew up close to the Canadian border, so I picked up on the 'tuque' thing. Interestingly, 'tuque' facilitates the creating of a 3 vowel minimal pair - 'tuck', 'took', 'tuque'. 1. Sneakers or Running shoes 2. Bathroom at home or 'restroom' elsewhere. The washroom is where the washer & dryer are located. 3. Parking garage. 4. Couch 5. Winter hat 6. Fanny pack 7. Soda or Cola or soda pop 8. Id'nit 9. Also 'brown noser' in Vermont. 10. Bachelor party and bachelorette party 11. Slacker (same as Britain).
By the way, the term 'sneaker' arose in the late 1800's when rubber-soled shoes first came out which were quiet compared to the leather and wood of the past.
I prefer British English I feel clearer than others, but always is fine to know the differences between words with reference to other countries that speak English too, and therefore we can understand better.
I am French-speaking Canadian, I live in Quebec. It is much easier for me to understand the British accent than the Canadian one. I can't explain why😂 Tanks for this vidéo ! 😊
