    Is far as i can imagine, you have fluid tank with flip,and a plane with ocean modifier, you then made them intersect in such way so that only waves from flip fluid are showing up on surface?
    or did this one involve more modifiers as,say surface deform although this one does not support dynamic amount of vertecies that meshing of fluids provide, did you do a shrinkwrap of subdivided plane to host all fluids deformations and then transfer it to the ocean surface?
