It is much more convenient to have this feature *inside* the plug-in, instead of having to use FOUR insert slots just to encode/decode a simple feature! Even better would be to have [M] & [S] buttons on each Studio One plug-in header, so there would be no need for additional plug-ins to achieve M/S.
I’ve deleted all my third party plugins except Ozone 11, which I use for mastering. It’s sped things up for me so much and made my mixing a lot faster and less complicated. Also, my computer runs much faster!
Not at all. It's just the basic way to do MS-processing. Not every mixing task needs a specific plugin or a feature of a plugin. That's one of the main reasons for me to use mostly stock Studio one plugins. You need to understand the basics of audio in order to get the most from your stock tools. That's where most users come short and start looking for third-party plugins to solve basic mixing problems.
@@alexeysmirnovguitar The suggestion was that the stock plugin should support MS built-in, as a convenience. (Just like they added dynamic EQ to ProEQ even though you can achieve it through a side-chained multiband compressor etc. "The Good Ole' Way"). I agree it would be nice to build it into the stock ProEQ plugin for convenience, and those who want to do it the longer way can still do it that way
@@alexeysmirnovguitar Depends on the application. As a Post mix engineer, it's easy to instantiate FabFilter Pro-Q3 and select a band and set it to mid-side. I do this on all of my music cue tracks to carve out space for the dialogue. One plugin, one solution. Easy and done. I'd rather have that than a chain of mix tools, a splitter and two eq's running on my inserts. I already have video running along side a number of audio tracks. It's extra processing that it isn't needed. I fully understand how routing works. I just want a more elegant solution. That is why many turn to 3rd-party plugins.
I think that for those of us who can't always find the cash to buy a third party plugin, this is an easy workaround that requires 5 minutes of one's time and the chain only needs to be created once. Not bad, in my opinion.
Thank you Joe! Its an easy way to use MS and is in my opinion perfect, no need to overload plugins itself with features that you use only now and then!
Plz give us option to export stems like cubase in which we can include any fx/sends with a single click without any crazy routing💯 Studio one is perfect but in this thing its far behind even in ableton we can include send effect without any routing
We need a direct Mid-Side EQ not with splitter. Also having Mid-Side mode switch inside splitter will be great instead of using mixtool everytime, which is making the insert to look rough.
I ,ike the MS transform feature didn't know about it. but can we have it within the Pro Q as in fab filter proQ3. this feature is the reason I still use the fab filter.. lets have it in our own pro Q...
Just insert mixtool in MS-transform mode twice and load spectrum analyzer between the two instances. The left channel is Mid, the right channel is Side. By the way, I don't see the need to look for overlapping frequencies between mid and side... Just figure out what sounds wrong to you and fix it. No need to ovecomlpicate things.
@alexeysmirnovguitar I meant running a single instance and receiving data from multiple bands, I'm recording some heavier stuff and it's not as easy as you would think. There are free 3rd party analyzers that do this, it shouldn't be that big of a deal to have one, so I was just asking because I might not have been aware of it, if it did exist in S1.
Loving this Studio One 6,but using Cakewalk for so long and having over 3,000 songs that I use on live stage trying to learn how mid gear is use, program changes, I see that. But is there a way to send sysx data to my midi gear. I have turn most songs from midi tracks to wav. files, but want to save the original work up Studio One 6. Is that possible? I'm Jay.
I just tried this on 6.6.2 and it doesn't look like the mid-side option for the mixtool sets the gain to 3db. It appears to leave it at 0db. Has the MS algorithm been changed so the 3db adjustment isn't needed? Also, I was a bit disappointed because I need to solve a problem that requires DYNAMIC mid-side EQ but I don't see any way to use the split channels as sidechain input. Is that possible in Studio One?
am not sure what happened when I store my fx presets they are not showing in my fx folder anymore . I have to go all the way to the studio one and drag and drop on the channel
I understand that there's a (long) way of doing MS. But why not add MS directly into ProEQ and make life so much easier? (Sure if there are advantages to the more verbose method, that option is still available though the Mixtool, but not an excuse to not offer the easy option of having it built in to ProEQ. Am I wrong?)
Just look at your console! You have FIVE inserts (Enter MS, Splitter 1, Mid EQ, Side EQ, Exit MS) that could have been just ONE ("ProEQ with native MS support")
Was it just me or did anyone else only hear dripping water type of sounds when Joe muted the Mid (central mono) and just played the sides? He mentions hearing cymbals and guitars.. I was only hearing weird artefacts???

Please make that option available inside the pro q in studio one 7
in V6 not V7
But i wish they treated the plugins separately, I'd update the proEQ alone instead of updating the DAW
Hey Joe! This video was just what I needed. Otherwise, I might have had to buy the FabFilter ProQ3.
Splitter can do nice things, but still... this is a workaround.

By me, the "MS Transform" preset does NOT add the 3db gain. Can anyone else confirm?
Thanks Joe! Excellent tutorial
Another Great Video @Joe.! Thanks !

this is possible when you use "Tracks" option while exporting individual tracks but the same is not possible for bus/ channel which is so annoying
@@avinashps9854 💯💯 Cubase and ableton can do that grp/bus export with fx easily don't knw why studio one is far behind.

Why don't you just make Mixtool automatically add the 3dB (internally, without the dial turning) when using MS transform???
It would be great if Splitter had a Mid/Side Split directly, so there would be no need for using the two Mixtools before and after.
finally some cool ideas!!! Please make an automatic tempo detector! It's not funny anymore!!!

I too use ProEQ3 for all my EQ'ing needs...

Hi all, sorry for my ignorance but I didn't understand how to set up the latest Mixtool. Thanks!
Copy the settings you see on the screen. Same settings for both.
Excellent

Dynamic EQ was impossible at some point. How would you achieve it without 3rd party?
I have a question. Is it possibile to use plugins in multi-mono mode in studio one?
Yes there is! Just use the splitter in channel split mode and process left and right channels independently!
It would be nice to make it payable with the "PAY-PAL"!
Was it just me or did anyone else only hear dripping water type of sounds when Joe muted the Mid (central mono) and just played the sides? He mentions hearing cymbals and guitars.. I was only hearing weird artefacts???
already know the anwer. Just make ms-plugins for your daw, Presonus.🎉
How to stem seperator in studio one ? It supports stem seperator?
mm lol😂 i already did this technique

studio one es easy, this tutorial is difficult, fatal!!!
