There is still an option to spare your companions. Or more accurately, you tell them to run and you'll kill them last (after everyone else in the multiverse) so I guess that's something.
I just want Astarion to have a nice happy ending where he gets a SHIT TON of therapy, maybe a magical artifact that lets him walk in the sun, and a support system.
That's easy, choose a good playthrough, keep him unascended, and when you wake at the elfsong and he asks what you want, choose 'find a way to help you walk in the sun again' as I understand in forgotten realms there is a rare enchantment that can help vampires walk in the sun
Funfact: you can get The Sunwalker's ring fairly early in act 1. lorewise it's a highly coveted ring that allows vampires to walk in direct sunlight without being harmed but gameplay wise it just offers +15 Fire Resistance. So it exists in game, but considering the whole Tadpole fiasco Astarion has no use of it 👍

When my dark urge friend was playing, the 7 of us had to hold her back from making the bhaal ending (this was before patch 7 and we had the muiltyplayer mod). There is art of everyone piled ontop of her while shes trying to scream "BHAAL WANTS BLOODSHED"
I want to note that this is clipping together two different versions of Astarion- "let's be reviled together" is said by Ascended Astarion, the front row seat line is said by Spawn Astarion.
@RandomGamefriends you can defeat Cazador and keep Astarion a spawn. Imo it's a better ending for Astarion as Ascending him essentially turns him into Cazador. He becomes that which he hated, just with a more charming veneer.

Sadly, I think your only options are to tell her to run, mind control her and make her jump, or stab her yourself (to give her a mercifully quick end instead of seeing what is to come), because Bhaal will brook no distractions from his will.
She still doesn't get a pass in this ending though. Best you can do is to let her go saying you'll kill her last, the same option that's available for any companion.
Since I romanced him, I got the ending where they kissed and my Dark Urge (decided to) stab him. This ending is fucking harrowing, it tore me apart and I loved it

It’s probably due to the fact that Durge embraced Bhaal that he had that first reaction. I’m still on console but I do remember him being like “what the hells are you doing?” when I picked one of the evil endings for an achievement months ago. Fighting Cazador and keeping him a spawn I think usually makes him less power hungry but durge being durge kinda defeats it.
@@SuNStereO i think it does, spawn Astarion pre-Cazador quest has the same lines as ascendant Astarion in the standart (non-durge) evil ending, so I'd assume post-Cazador spawn Astarion would have a different line here too
Man, I wanna do evil playthroughs but every single time I go to start I remember that by the end of it, all the people I've grown to cherish will either hate me or be altogether dead.
Weird seeing the player character actually talk 😅 wish it happened more often (haven’t played the game myself so idk actually, but in the many hours of play-throughs I’ve watched; I’ve never personally seen the player character talk at all hah)
The voice acting in this game is just.... Maybe the best ever? Every single voice actor is just so incredible. The only other time I can remember being moved by a VA's performance this much was in The Last of Us 1. Larian, and absoluitely everyone involved in the creation of this game outdid themselves, and absolutely everyone else in the industry.
You guys are all afraid to do evil endings because you are afraid Neil will call you out in Asta's voice and you'll be emotionally wounded forever. That said, I am too.
Obviously baulder's gate 3 is a 10/10 but honestly the only thing i didn't really like was that even if i had a full party there were rarely times 3 or all 4 of the party members each added to the conversation individually. I get FOMO knowing if i enter dialog using a mercenary i can't get all characters layers or character building. Yeah the games good but i dont wanna play 30 runs to see how 2 characters interact.
IMO it's completely out of character for Astarion to throw a tantrum about the Dark Urge dominating the world, especially since Vampires strive to do just that.
I romanced Karlach in my durge play through. I was cruel to all but her and my allies(i just didn’t care if they died) When i took control. I told them to run, hide, and live as long as possible
She still gets the same fate in this ending as the rest, she just doesn't call you out for it before you either murder her or tell her to flee and that you'll kill her last.
I wish there was an ending where you can be evil and maoe your companions choose to join you or die. I get none of them would want to, but are you telling me astarion and shadowheart wouldnt if you had basically won? Astarion because he has shown he does what he needs to in order to survive. Shadowheart because shadowheart if you follow shar is pretty evil herself, and mass mirder causes mass pain. Plus she may think she will have a chance to betray you if she joins you.
You can still save the grove in a durge run, even if you don't want to play a redeemed durge. Afaik if you accept your father's gift the only people who leave are some of the extra companions you get later but I've never gotten into the family business when I play durge, so I might be wrong about that.

It’s not hard getting to this ending - you don’t even have to do an ‘evil run’, you just have to accept Bhaal’s gift after the fight with Orin.

I romanced Karlach in my durge play through. I was cruel to all but her and my allies(i just didn’t care if they died)
When i took control. I told them to run, hide, and live as long as possible

She still gets the same fate in this ending as the rest, she just doesn't call you out for it before you either murder her or tell her to flee and that you'll kill her last.

This is the dark urge ending. Only Minthara and (Ascended?) Astarion gets dialogue in the regular evil endings.

I wish there was an ending where you can be evil and maoe your companions choose to join you or die.
I get none of them would want to, but are you telling me astarion and shadowheart wouldnt if you had basically won? Astarion because he has shown he does what he needs to in order to survive. Shadowheart because shadowheart if you follow shar is pretty evil herself, and mass mirder causes mass pain. Plus she may think she will have a chance to betray you if she joins you.

How do you keep Karlach in a Durge run? She's such a good person and I thought she definitely bailed if you didn't save the Grove.
You can still save the grove in a durge run, even if you don't want to play a redeemed durge. Afaik if you accept your father's gift the only people who leave are some of the extra companions you get later but I've never gotten into the family business when I play durge, so I might be wrong about that.
