- "Death on the Hoosatonic" is a melodramatic look at microbial predation and parasitism. When I found the music, I knew I had to "ham it up" a little. I hope you enjoy.
Its a bad day for diatoms. But will the desmid escape?
In the peaceful waters of the Hoosatonic River, death plays out for a couple diatoms. The amoeba has already phagocytosed a diatom, and it looks to have its pseudopods on the desmid. Meanwhile another diatom, to the left, is being devoured by bacteria, as a third diatom looks on, helpless to protects his buddies.

Looks like the algae that survived the "frightening" Amoeba attack is some sort of Cosmarium. Desmids are super cool. Thanks for the video.
