Also was amazed by it's accuracy - got good groupings at 25 yards. I didn't believe it so went to the range the next day to confirm it. Most accurate gun I've ever shot and yes I done own several CZ's.
I had the chance to handle one of these recently because one was put on consignment at the shop I work at. I’m not an Sig fan but if this shoots as good as it feels I’m sure it’s incredible. Great ergos, excellent triggers, very nice sights and amazing build quality the slide is the most buttery smooth that I can ever remember racking. Would love to try one out at the range
I purchased a Target model, then went to Hogue's website and purchased Cocobolo checkered standard grips. Pistol now looks just like the standard, but with target sights and front slide serrations. Still just as shootable, but a little more carry-able.
Not quite. SIG developed two versions of the gun. The single stack 44/8 and the double stack 44/16. The Swiss Armed Forces demanded a capacity of at least 8 rounds, preferably more. However, due to the lack of communication between the Army and SIG, the company couldn't rely on the 44/16 being selected as the next service weapon, so SIG started to look for other buyers. SIG proceeded to apply to the Swedish Military, and they preferred the single stack 44/8 over the double stack 44/16 and thus, SIG dropped the double stack version and proceeded to develop the single stack version into the 47/8-Model. However, Sweden didn't adopt the 47/8 in the end anyway. When the Swiss Army, still preferring the double stack version, finally came around a couple of years later (around '48), SIG no longer had any double stack versions to ready to submit and because the 47/8 still fulfilled the minimum requirement of 8 rounds, the Army cut their losses and adopted the 47/8 as the Pistole 49. And from there, any other P210 variant was derived. In short: The Swiss wanted a double stack, but were not decisive enough. Sweden wanted a single stack and that's what we got.
Yes, it seems like such an odd decision not to select the double stack. I think Ian on Forgotten Weapons said the trial was carried out by a gun club at the time and they preferred the slimmer grip. A carry model with double stack would be great but they are sticking to original capacity for that too.
@@failure2flinch876 I am actually correct. My information is based on the book by E. Armbruster and W. Kessler. Hey Outlaw Given all the downsides of the p210 as noted...its still a P210!!! Its a gun buff gun. When you pick it up and feel the heft and fit and finish. Its as good as any handgun can get...you're a great shooter.

I'm praying I can somehow buy a 210 Carry model. But so far I'm having no luck finding one. So i just might buy a base 210. My local place has 210s for 950 with a police discount. So I might have to pull it. Mind you I have not watched your review yet. So I hope me and you are on the same page

I plan on getting G10 grips and Metal +1 base plate extensions from Armory Craft. And yes I will conceal carry this gun. Custom leather thumb break pancake style holster. Also custom leather double magazine holder for weak side carry.
Too funny, what timing sir! I spent 2 hours on the range with one of these today. Came in tonight to watch a couple videos and here was this video! I drove this on a dueling tree at 45 feet with 6 inch plates. This was my first time out with it and it ran very well, accuracy is awesome and speed is excellent due to bore axis and weight. Home run on this updated model!!!!! I'm old enough to struggle with any sights that don't use a brass bead or light pipe. Regardless, this damn thing was delivering the vast majority of the rounds to center mass on those plates but I agree with your analysis, I would prefer a brass bead front sight. What a nice piece of equipment. Thanks for what you do on this channel, I enjoy the way you present!
Crazy seeing this review come up, as I just saw one at my local gun shop (same state as Honest Outlaw) and had no idea what it was. I was also surprised to find out it was a Sign, given the low bore axis. Interesting gun, great review!
Just got the target version it's by far the most accurate pistol I own put 300 rounds down so far I can keep them in the 10 ring at 50 yds. Pistol is so smooth pick one up you won't regret it
Just get the P210 Target and the problems disappear. Mostly. Still 8 shot. However this target pistol will make you look good at the range with its superior ergonomics and low bore axis. I love this gun. Some about it is special, in a good way. And don't forget the trigger, WOW!
I have two sigs. I was going to buy something else one day at shop he worked at. He talked me into getting a sig instead. Never happier so bought a second and looking to buy more sigs.
Ian from the Forgotten Weapons website and TH-cam channel actually has a video on a double stack 210. It was a prototype designed along with the single stack version and the reason it wasn't produced was because the original buyers wanted a target pistol more than a combat pistol. So when the single stack version went into production, that was what the company marketed to various militaries instead.
Own one of these - you can put any P series sights on the gun (confirmed with Sig customer service). Bought 226/229 Trijicon fiber optics and it runs amazing. Also added Hogue Cocobolo grips.
Forgotten weapons made a video on the two guns for the trials on this program where one of them was a double stack version of the 210. Maybe they could re-engineer that gun, bet that would make a huge splash at shot show and a hit in the competitive scene. I have owned a couple of 1911's that had fenomenal triggers but after dry fireing a german made new product ion P210 i was in awe
While massively awesome, I don't see them doing that since it would probably cut into P226 sales. I'll be happy if I can get a 5" Stainless P226 with an optic cut without selling my P7 and a spare organ.
@@danielhenderson8316 Fair point, but i still think a double stack version of the 210 would rather cut into the 1911/2011 market. P226 legacy is too strong imo (and an awesome shooter as well)
I looked at the target model at a gun shop and I love the feel of it. The only reason why I did t buy it is because it’s a single stack Magazine. If it was a double stack I would of bought it.
Somehow I've transformed into a Sig guy instead of a Glock guy, although I'll always have a Glock19 since I'm so comfortable with it. But my carry is now a Sig p365xl, If I remember correctly you gave it a good review 🤙😊
@@Wilfmott I agree if I'm wearing jeans but usually I'm wearing gym style pants or shorts. I also carry a 15 round backup mag for my p365xl so only 3 rounds less than my G19, unless I'm carrying my eight 33 round mags and two 50 round drums for my G19 lol
There are advantages to distinguishing between accuracy and precision, because errors in each have different remedies. Precision is the size of a group independent of the location of the group relative to the target. Conversely, accuracy is the location of a shot group relative to the target independent of the size of the group. The remedy for accuracy error is usually adjusting the sights, or adjusting grip or point of aim if the sights are not adjustable. The size of a group shot from a machine rest defines the precision of a pistol, and the size of a group shot offhand is the combination of the precision error of the pistol and the precision error of the shooter. Therefore the remedies for precision error include a more precise gun, but more likely improved shooting skill because the shooter’s contribution to group size is usually much greater, >10x, than the precision error of the gun. You can distinguish finer differences in pistol precision than most because your personal precision error is so small.
Great vid HO. When I worked for Sig as an instructor/armorer, plus my shop/range was the Canadian national distributor back in the early and mid 2000s, I got the opportunity to buy a new one plus a used military/LE trade back from the factory in Europe. My used one I've put about 4k or so through, not a ton, but enough, and the thing shoots darts. SO accurate, benchrest at 25m and even 50m are hilariously accurate. Great little range Pew Pew, obviously not the best field weapon, but it'd do in a pinch I guess. Both of mine are the target model, I've never used this model with those sights - good luck finding a mount/new sights, be real interested to see your results with a small MOA red dot. Pew Pew!!
Owning this exact model p210, I will say that it doesn’t do many things well... but look awesome! There are G10 grips out there. SIG may make night sights due to the “carry version” (if not already can swap from other model and in stock). I shot one at my local PSA store during “SIG days” where a rep came out with all of the cool new models. Picking up a firearm and being instantly accurate, and the gun feeling amazing with every shot... made me buy this! BUT, I do plan on keeping this firearm. So, I will buy the leather holster SIG offers, night sights, remove the nitron coating on the slide, and install G10 grips. Cool looking gun that shoots great, I can overlook the capacity with more magazines (already bought two extra)
As always I love hearing you're input and opinion on this one, but I have to respectfully disagree with you that this specific model doesn't really have a home. A few things, for one the sights are replaceable and actually the same size dovetails as the other Sig P series so they could easily be swapped out for some Xrays or such. #8 in the back and a #6 up front. Secondly 8 rounds of some good current production federal HST 9mm or similar is definitely lethal enough, and especially if you're able to place it very well. The weight isn't anything you wouldn't expect from an all steel frame pistol and carries just as well as any 1911 or similar. The craftsmanship and fit and finish quality on this P210A to me is so damn good and actually such a refreshing change from the normal offerings we usually see. This is a "Match" quality firearm for a very reasonable price in my opinion. You can even buy the target grips from Sig if you like and swap them out when you want. However there is absolutely no reason this couldn't be a stellar carry piece if someone wanted to do so. The safety is nice and positive to. Yes the trigger is very light for a carry piece but I've seen many that carry a 1911 with the same poundage trigger that do so without any issues or concerns. It's all in the training. Thanks for the awesome video!!
I have the target model and it is the smoothest slide I have ever used. I also have an extra set of standard P210 grips that fit perfect. American made version.
Haha... the Honest Outlaw wants to turn a bullseye target gun into a double stack speed demon shredder! Ya proper target sights a must for this thing which really is geared for the one handed bullseye target crowd.
Your criticisms of this particular model of the P210 are well-founded. The adjustable sights and the highly stylized grips on the Target model are genuinely helpful, I personally just wish they would come out with the 6 inch barreled "Super Target" model, though I'm quite happy with my Target model. Strangely, even the Carry model of the P210 doesn't have the larger capacity, so WTH, Sig? Good, solid review. Thanks.
Yeah im up man! Reminded me of my Old D-I in San Diego Cal. Back in day. Lol he let us brush our teeth & wash face before anything else in the morning. Cant say the same about other platoons Lol😁
I REALLY like the P210 Legend, it's all about the cool looks of that original for me. A double stack of that gun would be freakin sweet but the visual changes made on the standard just won't do.. even the beaver tail on the Legend is pushing it.
I appreciate the low bore axis and the cz slide in frame design. However, Sig sucks at marketing, make it double stacked, compensated, with better sight and a rail. Now you have a serious competitor that every internet commando will love.
I held a target model a couple of weeks back at my range. Ergos are really nice but the capacity. You’re right. So much right to have that weird limitation.
As a big fan of the old Walther P38, discovering this gem makes me happy. I'd dig something like this, A: because I don't have to restock a whole new ammo type and, B: I really like traditional single stack guns. Biggest reason I didn't like the P38's grandchild, (the Beretta M9) is because she too chunky. So this may very well be the gun I nab if I finally break into the tilt-barrel market.
I’ve been contemplating this one for a while. Holding out on seeing the 4” version. Then it probably a toss up between the steel frame Walther and the 4” p210
The ONLY difference on the frames between the target and standard is the wood grips. So if you love that idea buy the target and get some spare standard wood grips
Just sent my Target Model back to Sig after 500 rounds to get it fixed. The barrel doesn’t want to unlock from the slide and doesn’t want to go into battery. Had the gunsmith look at it and he recommended sending it back. I’ve only had I two months and just over 500 rounds. Hopefully it’s an isolated problem.
Thanks for the video. Yep it a single stack, just like the 1911 which seems to be popular enough. And the fit and finish is equal to a very good 1911 as well. So look at it in those terms and it's a great handgun. Maybe not my first choice for a gun fight but thats not why I bought it. I bought it to be a example of this design with US type controls and a more affordable than a original in price. I prefer the standard version to the target but a adjustable rear sight would be nice.
I believe P-series stights slot in. I have p229 sights to put in but other than the super large rear dots, I don't mind the sights as much as I thought I would.
Excellent video. This is the first time I feel I've gotten the entire story on the P210. One thing I've not heard much about is the thumb safety. Yes it is similar to a 1911, but the edge on it is incredibly sharp. I run them like a 1911 with my thumb on top of the safety. Not for me.
@@joshuagibson2520 Target model is adjustable sights and more of a target grip vs duty type, the target also has front serrations on the slide. I like the look of the standard slide better but I don't press check off the muzzle end, I prefer the old school smooth
Armory Craft makes a dovetail red dot mount which looks pretty slick, check it out. I have the target model but the grips are huge. Put on standard grips for my smaller hands but love the target sights.
This is SIG USA's version of the original handgun, while its a good gun, its not outstanding like the original(I actually heard this from a former SIG employee). Originals are available but very expensive $2900 to 9K on Edelweiss Arms website.
Really wish they would release a double stack P210 that was MRDO ready for modern competition shooting. Also wouldn’t hurt to have a rail on it. After all that it may dethrone your CZ Orange...
@@tomd8313 Now that would be debatable. Both the P210 and the TSO share similar design concepts, that's for sure. The P210 has a long history of military service while the TSO has none. Over its time in production its probably won more pistol tournaments then the TSO. Though I do agree the evolution of the TSO from the CZ75 is outstanding.
I know the trigger pull feels lighter than 3.5 lbs, but Sig Sauer says that's what it is. I'm in love with this pistol, but you summed up the negative points very well. To me you buy this as if you would jewelry . . . because you like it, not because it's particularly practical. Man, I like it! LOL

Hey first time handgun buyer here. I just had a question I'm looking at either a gen5 glock 19 or a beretta 92fs. Is there any other better guns for a first time buyer? Love the videos by the way man
Back in the early 1990s, I worked at a small gun shop. We got in a shipment of the police surplus specimens and put them up for sale for like $400.00. They were in nice shape. I always kick myself for not picking one up, which I could have gotten for a good bit less than the sticker price.
Would you recommend this gun for a first time shooter? I live in Canada and we can only target shoot with handguns at a government approved range not on private property ✌🏻🇨🇦
Hey - as always great informative and interesting video - A question about your grip if I may - Does the Pinky Side Heel of your shooting hand come to rest on the “back” of the handle? Or is it more 3/4? Thank you!!!

Again Nill grips suck - they are too fat.
Love the P210
Carry gun? Heck ya!
As Clint Smith once mentioned it's not necessarily comfortable to carry but rather...comforting...
I just picked up a target model, I love the thing.
Haha... the Honest Outlaw wants to turn a bullseye target gun into a double stack speed demon shredder! Ya proper target sights a must for this thing which really is geared for the one handed bullseye target crowd.
He always says he likes to go fast.
How about the P226 Legion SAO? Would that come closer to a double-stack version that would be accurate enough?
you have to try sig p210 target, is the best !
Been on my wishlish for a while now. They're just SO slick
Thanks.
Those iron sights seem good enough for 2 liters at 100 yards
Couldn’t agree more about a double stack 210. That would be a dream. Unfortunately if they did come out with one Sig would make them $5000 MSRP
That gun is perfect for home defense. How many rounds do you need? 🤔 it's accurate and reliable and with good ammo it is deadly as you could ask for.
I'm very happy with my 226 legion sao but this is a beauty !
I appreciate the low bore axis and the cz slide in frame design. However, Sig sucks at marketing, make it double stacked, compensated, with better sight and a rail. Now you have a serious competitor that every internet commando will love.
And about $2500 and maybe not enough production space to pull off due to all the police and military contracts for the guns they make right now.
I think the target slide on the standard frame would make a hell of a pistol. A double stack would of been even nicer.
Definitely sig gotta make a double stack p210! In target and carry model! They have the p320 magazines to back it up.
Excellent video. This is the first time I feel I've gotten the entire story on the P210.
One thing I've not heard much about is the thumb safety. Yes it is similar to a 1911, but the edge on it is incredibly sharp. I run them like a 1911 with my thumb on top of the safety. Not for me.
Couldn't agree more! The thumb safety on this is terrible. It's sharp, requires a lot of force to move and doesn't give enough purchase.
Disagree - thumb works great. I don't know what you mean by it being sharp - get out and do some yard work. @@tristaneuritt9556
This is a good woods gun, walking varminter, the lack of capacity is a benefit with the sweet grip that it provides.
I own the target model and it's spectacular. It honestly feels like cheating and will out shoot my P365XL with a red dot.
Help a poor like me out (not hi point poor, but... lol) and educate me on the target models Msrp please.
@@joshuagibson2520 Street price is typically in the $1500-1700 range if you can find it.
@@joshuagibson2520 Target model is adjustable sights and more of a target grip vs duty type, the target also has front serrations on the slide. I like the look of the standard slide better but I don't press check off the muzzle end, I prefer the old school smooth
In Bullseye, it's cheating alright. Lol. Target P210 is spectacular.
The capacity is why I started looking at Beretta 92X Performance instead of this.
Armory Craft makes a dovetail red dot mount which looks pretty slick, check it out. I have the target model but the grips are huge. Put on standard grips for my smaller hands but love the target sights.
Awesome pistol son!! Great review as always!!
This is SIG USA's version of the original handgun, while its a good gun, its not outstanding like the original(I actually heard this from a former SIG employee). Originals are available but very expensive $2900 to 9K on Edelweiss Arms website.
Great videos. Keep 'em coming! Also, could you do a top 10 .45 cal handgun vid? That'd be awesome!
The new P210 uses the he same sights as the P226/229. Any sights for those should fit. I suggest calling Robert Burke to discuss options.
1911, browning hi power, cz 75. Some of the sexiest handguns on the market. This beats all 3 for me
I've been thinking of getting one for steel challenge limited
Really wish they would release a double stack P210 that was MRDO ready for modern competition shooting. Also wouldn’t hurt to have a rail on it. After all that it may dethrone your CZ Orange...
Bought the target model yesterday. Can't wait to shoot it.
P210 with a Hi-Power or CZ mag well... put it on my list!
Definitely would be a better seller in a double stack with a pic rail. Do like the historic value of it though
Now that was an interesting review. If you alter the iconic P210 to a high capacity wonder nine, would you still have a P210 or a CZ 75 TSO?
hard to say
H.O. always tells it straight, Like it is.
Its ok to say the TSO has the 210 covered, 360°
@@tomd8313 Now that would be debatable. Both the P210 and the TSO share similar design concepts, that's for sure. The P210 has a long history of military service while the TSO has none. Over its time in production its probably won more pistol tournaments then the TSO. Though I do agree the evolution of the TSO from the CZ75 is outstanding.
How can you say the accuracy is fantastic when you are having trouble shooting it well because of the sights?
I dig it, it's like a cz and a sig had a baby
I know the trigger pull feels lighter than 3.5 lbs, but Sig Sauer says that's what it is. I'm in love with this pistol, but you summed up the negative points very well. To me you buy this as if you would jewelry . . . because you like it, not because it's particularly practical. Man, I like it! LOL
I have a stable full of guns and this one hands down is my favorite . My trigger pull come in at less than 3lbs.
If it had higher capacity mags, it would be my perfect pistol. But right now the CZ 75B Omega takes the cake
You have the best gun channel on youtube! I was wondering if you might consider a review of the Browning 1911 380. I think you said you were considering buying one for you wife. Blessings, Chris
Putting a red dot on that gun would be like slathering ketchup on prime rib.
Hey first time handgun buyer here. I just had a question I'm looking at either a gen5 glock 19 or a beretta 92fs. Is there any other better guns for a first time buyer? Love the videos by the way man
Look into a G45. More bang for buck over the 19
@Matthew Webber I know about hi-points 😂😂
@@LumberjackRemodeling I'll look into it thank you!
@Matthew Webber I'll do that too thank you so much
@Matthew Webber oh you're 13 jesus well thanks kid 😂😂 just kidding thank you lmao
What after markets sights fits the P210 Standard?
Agree the 3 white dot sucks.
I love mine, but I'd really like to eventually get one of the old ones.
Perfect for Canada. We have a 10 shot centrefire limit anyway. You buy this first and you will hard pressed to find anything better. Enjoy.
Can’t go wrong with this pistol
Or you could vote in a government that thinks you deserve freedom
Hey - as always great informative and interesting video -
A question about your grip if I may -
Does the Pinky Side Heel of your shooting hand come to rest on the “back” of the handle? Or is it more 3/4? Thank you!!!
A double stack version of this pistol would be amazing... Except for the price, Sig would charge a fortune.
I prefer simple. That’s why I just bought this work of art.
Mowing your lawn must be dangerous.
All that brass has got to be flying shrapnel !
The reason why the sites and the magazine are the way they are is because this pistol is basically just a new manufactured gun from the original.
