What do you mean true narcissist? If my understanding of the term is correct, they’re incredibly selfish, rarely consider how things affect others, and will actively harm others if it helps them in some way or makes them appear better. The ones I’ve met and known aren’t good at hiding it at all. The only way they’re good at hiding is through technicality. They love taking hyper specific jabs at people so when the story is recalled after they push someone to beating their ass, they can cry wolf. Then they feel superior because even though they started it and then acted like a pussy after, in their mind they controlled you.
Merle didn't deserve to die the way he did. We were just getting to see his redemption only to be snatched away immediately. I am somewhat biased though because he was my favorite character for the few episodes he appeared in.
I wish the governor was a little more ruthless like he was in the comics. The revenge michonne gets on him is one of my favorite parts of the governor arc. Also the whole reason Rick loses a hand. Pretty decent in the show though
I disagree. Comic governor was waaaaay too cartoonishly evil for me. Especially right after we had the prisoners. Show governor seemed much more charismatic then the comics imo
Fun fact they were actually gonna do the whole Governor/Michonne comic story but David Morrissey (the actor for the Governor) didn’t feel comfortable doing the scene so they cut it
@@carmenlynn5441I agree. I’ll say tho it is satisfying that in the comics Michone cuts off his wiener but yeah he’s like over the top in the comics and I can’t imagine that would bode over well in television. HBO could’ve but not AMC 😂

While mostly right, saying that it doesnt have a safety just because its a revolver isnt. Plenty of revolvers have safeties just not really a heavy priorized feature on something with a 6 plus pound da trigger
The comment about the safety is a callback to Season 1/2 when Dale didn’t think she knew how to handle a gun and Shane was training her, not the specific gun she was holding . It was meant to be a wistful, bittersweet joke.
Yeah it was a inside joke between Rick and Andrea, I actually loved that line. When they first meet in the store, she points a gun at him. she then apologizes and Rick says she had the safety on lol. When Amy dies and Rick tries to console her, she points the gun again, this time saying "I know how the safety works" calling back to Rick's advice, and lastly when she dies he gives her the gun and she says the same thing. It was a neat little call back.
I really enjoyed this video! Your analysis on The Governor's story was spot on and shows how much a man can adapt to the crumble of society. TV show Governor has a great overall story and background, which is why I liked the character so much. The end of his story was fitting since he could have all been avoided if he didn't want revenge so badly. Can't wait until the next video!
Thank you so much! The show really took its time letting us get to know him, which I think makes for a more intimate story rather than the comics, where he’s just insane the whole time
The governor is the the dark version of Rick grimes. While Rick had his wife, son, and friends during the apocalypse, the governor had lost his family and had no real friends, just subordinates. He had to pretend to be someone else to be able to establish any relationships with others. People who saw his real self were very fearful and fell in line. The governor relied on being a monster because being the monster was his power so he couldn’t let go of that. He murdered other survivors in cold blood because he didnt want outsiders to live and because he wanted their resources. He represented what Rick would’ve easily become if Rick decided not to care anymore. Completely opposite of Rick who does things for the good of the people around him and only showed his brutality to protect his group. Who also established real meaningful relationships with those in his group. The governor had nobody truly because he only cared for his own gains, while Rick actually stepped down as a leader even though others wanted him to lead because ricks group had genuine likeness and respect, whereas the governor, people followed him out of fear and he even murdered Martinez and Pete for leadership because of his ego. Philip even mirrored Rick in presentation. Button up shirt with sleeves rolled up and tucked in, watch on left wrist, southern accent, both are leaders with a Dixon and a third guy as right hand men, cowboy boots and signature sidearms.
No he is not. Rick would never ruthlessly slaughter his entire community in a fit of rage for not wanting to fight for him. Not matter if he had lost Lori & Carl, he would never have done it. Governor is not a good guy, he never was. He’s not supposed to be a dark version of Rick Grimes. That was literally Shane. Are we watching the same show man?

I wish they followed through Andrea’s arc with her becoming Woodbury’s new leader. You can see the beginning of her taking more of a leadership position in Woodbury with her calming down the scared citizens and taking out the walkers infiltrating the city streets.
I'm glad they killed her off. They butchered one of the best characters from the comics. She was the anti Shane. Where the show fleshed him out better than the books, Andrea got dumber and wasted.

As for twd show he is my favorite villain Although i really like Negan as a character, i know his redemption isnt realistic at all, so it has to knock him down a notch.
Merle was calling back to god when he was "bagging" on the roof in s1, i don't think so he had nearly as much time he needed as he deserved, everyone felt he was taken out too early, i mean he was only alive for 2 episodes in s1 and 12 in s3 which really underusing character, not counting every and each episode of screentime it is even lower. It is sad, he deserved to be atleast shown to the end of s6 Martinez was killed by him because he didn't want to be leader again, to make other atrocities happen (showing broken persona), as Martinez said : Maybe we can share the *crown* a little. Also screaming *I don't want, I don't want it* (he was trying to become changed man, but he knows that true leader would never ask to share the crown, otherwise it would show his incompetence.
I was under the impression his name was not really Philip? I thought he stole his brother’s name, because he wasn’t proud of anything? I could be wrong.
Cool video. However, Penny was killed pre woodbury and Philip survived with his brother Brian and Philip's friends Bobby and Nick. Rise Of The Governor is the backstory of the comics version of this character, and the show version experienced a similar version of that backstory. Penny was a walker when he arrived at Woodbury, my theory is that he killed his brother after Brian tried to prevent Philip from feeding someone to Penny, whom Philip believed to still be alive.
@@Swell-Films In s3, Michonne sees the names Brian, Bobby and Nick in Philips notebook. Also on a previous there was a note about sending an email, so that confirmed that he wasn't at Woodbury when the apocalypse began.
Actually Brian killed Phillip and took Philips persona in the book. He's not even the real mean tough brother he was weak and scared until he took over his younger brothers persona
@@householdgambler That happens in the comics universe, however the governor in the show universe is Philip Blake. Penny is his daughter, and the photo that he has of his family proves that.
Cool video of the governor, back then while I was 12 , used to watch the walking dead with my sister, to me I always thought that the governor was the bigger individual in the show . But he’s really an iconic villain in the series like this dude had all the package .
Safety and power. The Prison was built better to keep zombies out than a town. More land for farming in a safe area. The cell blocks could house more people, hold more storage. Power aspect, setting would help tear down followers' sense of individuality. Easy to lock up to anyone who questioned his authority.
I guess my one argument is when the person who saved you & kept you alive for months (Michonne) says something is wrong with this town, why don’t you listen?! Then when she didn’t kill the Governor in his sleep, I lost all respect for her.
I’m 100% gonna be covering the ones who live! The others I’m gonna get around to but I enjoy doing videos on specific arks and characters, rather than whole seasons. But who knows!
Did anyone else notice the empty casing hit the floor and echoing right after Andrea is shot by Michonne? I didn't know that Rick's python was a semi automatic, lol 😂 Good old walking dead sound effects in the first seasons. Also, Carl's baseball bat aluminum suppressor on the end of that Beretta M9 was pretty awesome as well
I truly don't understand why the fact that governor kept his dead daughter in the office is so bad. In season 2, when Rick and the team where on the farm, dead relatives have been also kept in the separate house and fed. That act is usually interpreted as mercy, but why this one is bad?! It has always been a question for me.
Hershel had come around to see keeping them around was wrong. The reason it’s seen that way, is because they don’t truly know what is left inside. Even if .1% of the person is still inside, it could be seen as torture to leave them alive. Michonne was of this belief, that’s why she kept her boyfriend as the pet, as punishment for him, and herself.
There is something way more sinister how governor does it. Hes very unhinged man still managing to keep mask on publicly. Hesrshel kept walkers out of pure compassion at that point he didnt understand what really was going on, and he thought they are just sick people that maybe one day comes cure, but Shane showed him they are not people anymore, and that snapped him to the reality of the situation
@@lalli8152 well the governor is a bit like hearshel in that sense but also the governor was just in denial, he wasn’t really a sick man at first, he had just lost everything, his wife and daughter, but he didn’t want that do be true. Once his walker daughter was killed he lost everything and only cared about getting revenge
@@DrakeSmith-tn6ij abused children usually grow up with those traumas and either they become better people or they become worse than the person that abused them
There’s a lot of plot holes in terms of how the infection can spread like for one example michonne stabbing the governor in the eye with Walker tainted water, wouldn’t it infect him with the virus?
Yeah you’re 100% right. That’s just one of those things you gotta suspend your disbelief for. It wouldn’t have been as big a deal if they didn’t have the saviours weaponize it in season 8
We do realize that if it wasn't for the governor, there would likely still be like 3 thriving communities of survivors in the post apocalypse just fine and well? Like, I get it, I am commiting anything from season 5 and onwards, but it is kind of disheartening when you just realize how much a single man can destroy.
The governor was one of the best villains. He gave just enough away to feel dread but he was also sympathetic because of his daughter. I thought he was great.
What’s weird to me is we all seem to judge socio/psychopaths heavily. But…we all respond differently to trauma. If we lost everyone we cared about, who’s to say we’d be any different than they would? I know we all think we wouldn’t, but how do we know? Edit: yes, I’m aware they’re a threat. Of course they are. I’m not saying to pretend otherwise.
you're right, if a dude has human heads for TV I'm gonna reconsider if I'm being a meanie weanie to him and consider that he may just respond differently 🎉
@@Shannon-vv6rr learn how to read. I didn’t say they weren’t a threat. And they should be treated as such. But guess what? Most of the ones on tv are deeply traumatized individuals. Let’s see how you respond to that. I have a feeling you’ll be a little bit of a “meanie weanie” yourself. Are you suggesting we immediately go nuclear the second you are?
I always found it funny that people find Governor arc Michone as being annoying because she's antagonistic to the obviously bad guys, the lady's got survival instincts, a bullshit detector and she's obviously not well "socialized" those days. That version of Michone is hands down my fav in the series, followed closely by first season Glen, first/second season Rick, Shane, Merle and every second of good ol' papa Greene.
Wow this is Porcelain level good. If you dont know who he is he does TH-cam docs on comedians mostly. Very noce job jist found you so I look foward to catching up on your videos.
It always pissed me off Andrea stopped Michonne from killing the Governor. She could have stopped the raid on the prison and the death of Hershel. Ugggh. Honestly, I just couldn't stand Andrea this entire season.
Michonne is a strange choice to have killed Penny. I mean she herself held two walkers chained up. It’s a bit hypocritical of her in particular to be judging him so hard for keeping a family member as a zombie when that’s exactly what she did
If anything, I’d argue that’s the reason she is the perfect fit. She kept her boyfriend around to punish herself and him. A young girl like penny doesn’t deserve that, and she knew it.
She despises her zombies though she wants to see them as rotting monsters. The governor loved his daughter. She thought it was horrific that you keep someone you love as a zombie. That's why she kept the people she LOVED that killed her son.
Were they really friends? If you have a real friend you know each other Andrea was just another person and had she died from fever all she would be is another chained walker. Andrea had michonne in her sights with 0 risk
Yeah they survived for months together and Michonne saved and protected Andrea when she was dying with flu with 0 gain for it. Andrea was the first friend Michonne met and trusted after what happened to her. They weren't just friends, they loved eachother, they were family and a girl pack after Ricks group lost Andrea. Before Andrea Michonne had nobody who loved her left. All Michonne had was her dead boyfriend walker that she hung onto and despised, she was going mad from loneliness and had 0 contact with humans. She had a very sad existence before she met Andrea and gained a real friend who loved her. In return, Andrea also gained a real friend who wanted the best for her and loved her back. Out of everyone, Andrea wanted Michonne to be with her when she killed herself. If Andrea hadn't met Michonne she would've stayed feral to humans. They were nothing but monsters. Michonne meeting a vulnerable Andrea who didn't intend to hurt or betray her meant EVERYTHING to Michonne. Andrea showed her that there's some humanity left in the world. For months she scavenged and got flu pills for Andrea when she was too weak to really move. They weren't just friends, they were the best of friends who'd bonded closely
I just thought about this. Why didn't the governor get infected from the glass? The heads were soaking in the water and I feel like that would have tainted it and since the glass was covered in water, I feel like it would be able to spread the infection? Idk
Yeah that’s a good observation. Tbh, the rules have always been kinda loose on that sort of thing. In season 5 episode 10, Sasha knife’s a bunch of walkers, and then accidentally cuts Abraham with the same knife with no consequences. But in season 8, Negan uses that exact tactic against the coalition. You kind of just have to suspend your disbelief for a lot of the show.
Governor: 50% Jim Jones, 50% abusive husband type. Its cool that Carols the one that told Andrea to kill him because she knows his "brand" of monster when she sees one. I feel like the people who despise Andrea are ridiculous types that will blame the woman for not leaving a man like him who has his claws in her
we can olive together 🗣️🔥🔥🔥

I didn't know that Rick's python was a semi automatic, lol 😂
Good old walking dead sound effects in the first seasons.
@@Swell-FilmsI really like your explanation of this
Because it’s shows selfishness, he’s not keeping her for her sake but for his own, everything the governor does boils down to selfishness
The Governor gives abusive husband/father vibes. I think he always was a psychopath
The governor mentioned in “Dead Weight” that he was abused as a child.
@@DrakeSmith-tn6ij abused children usually grow up with those traumas and either they become better people or they become worse than the person that abused them
This channel is too damn underrated.
Haha appreciate that!
Never seen this comment before . Original
This section of the show was so good
There’s a lot of plot holes in terms of how the infection can spread like for one example michonne stabbing the governor in the eye with Walker tainted water, wouldn’t it infect him with the virus?
Yeah you’re 100% right. That’s just one of those things you gotta suspend your disbelief for.
It wouldn’t have been as big a deal if they didn’t have the saviours weaponize it in season 8
Perhaps not enough was on the blade or dilluded by the water
Everyone's infected tho
Finally someone who understands Andrea’s character
Once the Governor killed Herschel, i never watched it again. I love listening to a great video on it, and thanks.
Great video. Merle didn’t bring back Michonne’s sword though? I thought u said that. I may have misheard you.
No you’re correct, I did say that. I only noticed the mistake after I uploaded
Still the best Character in the series
We do realize that if it wasn't for the governor, there would likely still be like 3 thriving communities of survivors in the post apocalypse just fine and well?
Like, I get it, I am commiting anything from season 5 and onwards, but it is kind of disheartening when you just realize how much a single man can destroy.
The governor was one of the best villains. He gave just enough away to feel dread but he was also sympathetic because of his daughter. I thought he was great.
Who knew rick would take his own hand and not Govy
What is the name of the background music that was playing in 47:00 to 47:40 in this video. Someone please tell me.
I'm exactly like The Governor except I have aquariums of weiners.
@@householdgamblerlike people's junk or actual hot dogs? Please tell me you mean hot dogs.
you're right, if a dude has human heads for TV I'm gonna reconsider if I'm being a meanie weanie to him and consider that he may just respond differently 🎉
The actor that plays Myrle should play Kano in a Mortal Kombat movie
I always found it funny that people find Governor arc Michone as being annoying because she's antagonistic to the obviously bad guys, the lady's got survival instincts, a bullshit detector and she's obviously not well "socialized" those days.
That version of Michone is hands down my fav in the series, followed closely by first season Glen, first/second season Rick, Shane, Merle and every second of good ol' papa Greene.
You should do a video about the claimers next.
That’s hilarious I’m actually writing the script for the claimers now
@@Swell-Films same minds think alike I guess but the Claimers are by far my favorite side villain in the show so I wanted to see you cover them.
Wow this is Porcelain level good. If you dont know who he is he does TH-cam docs on comedians mostly. Very noce job jist found you so I look foward to catching up on your videos.
Thanks so much! I can’t say I’ve heard of him but if I get a chance I’ll check em out!
Porcelain?
La bibidi bibidum, La bibibidu.. Cluck went the chicken!
Bro, u truly are the Vaatividya of The walking dead😆
My goat
How many letters in Governor?
ATE🔥🔥🔥
Denise Huth-one of the producers for the show, i think-is the woman in the picture portraying his wife. She's a looker.
Yeeeeessss sirr new vid 🍷🗿
Hope you enjoyed!
I really liked this guy. A proper evil guy.
“Liar”
Good ‘ol’ Oreo Eye
It always pissed me off Andrea stopped Michonne from killing the Governor. She could have stopped the raid on the prison and the death of Hershel. Ugggh. Honestly, I just couldn't stand Andrea this entire season.
To far gone the best episode in the whole show
finally let’s go
Andreas No scream before Michone went for the killing blow gave me goosebumps. I’ve rewatched the entire show 3x. That is in my top 10 of moments
Man the writers did andrea dirty.
I never seen anyone mention the body hanging from a tree that Andrea sees when she is being driven to Woodbury. What's up with that?!?!
The very villain of twd period
Michonne is a strange choice to have killed Penny. I mean she herself held two walkers chained up. It’s a bit hypocritical of her in particular to be judging him so hard for keeping a family member as a zombie when that’s exactly what she did
If anything, I’d argue that’s the reason she is the perfect fit.
She kept her boyfriend around to punish herself and him. A young girl like penny doesn’t deserve that, and she knew it.
It's revenge in the book the governor raped Micchonne and tortured her.
They way michonne talks about Andrea in reverence in the following seasons leads me to believe she cared for her as a friend deeply
I feel like the people who despise Andrea are ridiculous types that will blame the woman for not leaving a man like him who has his claws in her
Can somebody please tell me the name of the background music that was playing in 47:00 to 47:40 in this video.
Unfortunately I don’t have the project file anymore so I’m not entirely sure, but I’ll do my best to track it down for you
@@Swell-Films Please do, it's such a cool background music that I would love to listen to.
