On one of our first tours abroad, after a few days in Germany, I had a brain fade first thing in the morning (luckily) and rode our bike (my wife as pillion) away from our B&B on the wrong side of the road for about 4-500 yards before my brain switched on and I quickly returned to the correct side, very fortunately there was no other traffic on the road. You could say, had there been traffic flowing, I may not have made the mistake but it can happen so easily when you’ve been abroad for a few days and believe you’ve got it sussed, this is probably the most likely time to make that mistake when you’re too relaxed about things. When driving/riding abroad now we both say ‘on the right, on the right’ especially first ride of the day and after a stop. Glad you were OK Phil 👍
Gees. I am glad you are OK. From an Aussie currently living in France I have found the first intersection or turn for the day is the difficult one. We have an in the head saying " Rightie tighty and Lefty Loosey" Good luck with recovery. Oh I only just emailed you confirming the box of parts arrived. Great service.
Hi Frank, Many thanks. To be honest it was one of the EU driving demons I thought I laid to rest many years ago. Back in the early 90's there was always "one" moment to keep you on your toes, but after living in Germany for 4 years and many trips across the pond without incident thought that box was ticked. So this completely blind sided me, it was the end of a third long day on the bike so was obviously mentally tired, bad weather and no traffic for a mental reference obviously opened the door to the Fu*^up fairy to come and kick me in the gonads 🙂. I will be home on Sunday and in a van on Tuesday to drive back to Austria and pick the bike up.
