Bro there's nothing called diesel engine actually every engine works on electric only even wdp4 as well it runs on a electric motors diff is that it uses generator to generate electricity wheres wap engines directly draw current from wires

Diesel engines have higher torques even at high speed hence consumes much diesel and energy in generating that torque which actually is not reqd at higher speeds.Electric engines specially wap7,wag9 have higher torques at starting but more efficient during constant runs.

Can anyone here educate me as to why WDP s are allowed to run at 130kmph after the lockdown, in contrast to the fact they were not allowed to do so before the lockdown as only Njp Shatabdi used to run at 130kmph with WDP 4 ?
What factors led to the Indian Railway to decide against it's earlier decision ? None other than a single train ran at 130kmph using EMDs ?

Either the train was having conventional ICF/ Hybrid LHB coaches or that section was not fit for 130, that's why they were running at 110 before lockdown.

Because Railways used the lockdown period to do extensive overhaul work of its vast network so that now trains can run regularly at 130 kmph.

WDP4s were always capable of 180kmph speeds earlier and also did 130 on a regular basis. Meanwhile WDP4B and 4Ds were a modifed version of WDP4 and required ample trials untill RDSO was satisfied of their safety at higher speeds, though they were already fit for 130+ speeds but were not allowed to do so. 4Ds were only allowed upto 105kmph earlier due to their increased frame length as compared to the WDP4s. After a lot of tests and trials they were found fit for passenger haulage at 130.
