Tom loved fifties Rock n Roll and got Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis and others on his show to share that love. Nobody did duets better than TJ, he could match his style to many types of music. Tom and Little Richard remained friends til LR's death, just as Tom had remained a good friend to Elvis until his. Great that you look back to learn where it all comes from. Sometimes current performers think it all started with themselves. LOL

I must say, Tom Jones did a very admirable job on those Little Richard standards in this video. And he didn't try to upstage his guest in any way. I'm continuously impressed by the stylistic width of Tom Jones' vocal abilities - from slow, passionate ballads to uptempo rockers and everything in between. I wish I had familiarized myself with Jones' work much earlier in life.

I saw Tom Jones close out a big festival here in Denmark about 10 years ago, he was 70 years old by then and he played sunday night....I dont remember any other acts i saw that weekend, and there was about 100 bands on the line-up, some of them major international stars. Tom Jones is the man!

Little Richard is top-five aa-time pure rockn' roll dynamite. He wrote, played, and sang his own songs. I watched The Tom Jones show every week because he always had great guests and he loved to sing with them. If you can hold your own with Little Richard, you can hold your own with anybody.

A "medley" means a group or a variety of things. Here Little Richard and Tom Jones are singing a group of Little Richard's hits. This clip is great not only for the vocals, but it showcases both artists and Little Richard's contribution to rock and roll.

The This Is Tom Jones tv show I believe was recorded here in the UK where he attracted the biggest and best in the business and did dozens of collaborations like this, you’ll love Tom and Aretha Franklin, Tom and Stevie Wonder in ‘69 when Stevie was just 19, after which Tom and Stevie became lifelong friends. And you’ll deffo love Tom and Wilson Pickett (Tom’s hero btw) where they tear the lace apart with a medley of Barefootin, Midnight Hour and Hey Jude, it will not let you down. So recorded here in the UK and picked up by ABC I think for broadcast in the States!! Tom is now 82 and right now in ‘23 is about to tour the UK 🇬🇧
Greetings from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Uk, smallest of the 4 UK countries, my birthplace and Tom’s, we’re pretty proud of ‘our Tom’ 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧🇺🇸

Along with Roy Orbison, these 2 legends are my favourites, right after Elvis.
So much energy from both in all their performances.

Little Richard was it, he was great in the 50's and 60's he was rock n roll and no one did it better. Tom wanted to sing with everyone and he respected them all, these people sang with their voicis not anything added no auto tunes just great voices and Richard was one of the great ones.

Tom is probably (indirectly) known to American audiences because of ‘Carlton’s dance’ from Fresh Prince Of Bel Air and that’s because Carlton on FPOBA dances to Tom’s first hit record from 1965, It’s Not Unusual 😊

Little Richard had crazy high energy shows at same time as Jerry Lee and Elvis. New Orleans complained that he took away all the best horn players for his tours. There were some shows with LR and Jerry Lee 💥😱

Tom Jones hangs with the great African American soul artists, but Little Richard just has that something special that no one else does - the Michael Jackson of the 50s. But Tom does his own thing like no other on his own classics as well.

@@bballgriotd-e-e-e-troitbba604 Tom Jones sang those great ballads "I'm Never Going to Fall in Love Again" and "I Who have Nothing" better than Little Richard ever could. Nobody's better than everyone else at everything.

Sir Tom Jones was the UK's answer to Elvis a mega star worldwide - when they first met his good friend Elvis asked him how do you sing like that - Tom replied ''its your fault'' . you must react to '' Im never going to fall in love'' by Tom - LIVE a huge hit that showcases his vocal range.

Little Richard was one of the best, but in those days what he put out was Rhythm and Blues. Not rock and roll.

There was quite a few "Littles..." before Little Richard. Although, I think he was the first international Little...maybe? Little Willie John was before him a great track by him is "I'm Shakin'". Also the original singer of the song "Fever" covered by Elvis and the fantastic Peggy Lee.

This Is Tom Jones TV show lasted three seasons. It was cancelled because the other networks started airing new movies which dipped Tom's ratings.

Actually, they both have the same energy.
Little Richard is certainly on my top list where old Rock `n Roll is in question. I know Tom Jones is exceptional but he never warmed up my soul. The only songs by him that I really like are Green Green Grass Of Home, and You Don`t Have To Be Rich which I actually like more than the original by Prince.
