Richard is the ARCHITECT of Rock and Roll. The Beatles worshipped and toured with him. It’s where they got the “ Woooooo!”
And they also covered Long Tall Sally.
They also sort of got the "Wooo" from the Isley Brothers as well on Twist and Shout.

Beatles are so overrated. Plenty of more talented artists who because they didn’t fit the certain mold the label’s wanted, were ignored after they made sure to steal whatever made them unique. .

Paul McCartney used to employ a Little-Richard-like "woo" in a lot of the Beatles' songs. And of course his flamboyance paved the way for people like Prince many years later.
The Beatles toured as a opening act for Little Richard. Paul asked Little Richard to teach him how to do the "woo".
And of course The Beatles covered this song.
If you look at the look Prince had during the 1999/Putple Rain era, it owes a huge amount to Little Richard.
Little Richard was one of the true pioneers of Rock. Back then almost everyone was an 'original', but Little Richard was a 'stand-out original.' I also noticed another original sitting at the tables, Billy Haley and the Comets. 😎
4:37 what an absolute legend and one of the most important people in the history of music. This is ridiculously good! Look at his beginnings where he was working for Greyhound buses and someone was like "Hey man you can sing pretty good" and the rest is history. One of the most talented singers the world has ever seen and his music still has an impact today in 2022.

At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, when my son was 3 years old, we finished the tour, went outside on the plaza, speakers started playing Tutti Frutti. My son spontaneously started dancing like a crazy man, people stopped to watch. I never lmao so hard in my life. You had to be there...it was the epitome of what rock and roll was all about.
Early rock n roll is so good. Imagine being a teenager in the 50’s and you were brought up on songs like How Much Is That Doggy In The Window. The world must’ve felt so grey & dull compared with hearing this for the first time. Like a shot of colour & life. I’m so envious of that generation who experienced the birth of rock n roll. I didn’t do too badly though, my generation got grunge & Brit pop so not all bad lol.
My years of discovering music was years before TH-cam was around otherwise I’d have my own channel with 3 subscribers 😂 Keep up the good work! 👍

He is known as "The Architect of Rock and Roll." and the Beetles started as an opening act band on his concerts long before they became world wide phenomenon.
Another fun fact-- David Bowie (as a kid) wanted to be one of Little Richard's saxophone players.
He's the King. Micheal Jackson, Prince, James Brown, Mick Jagger, Beatles and many others imitate Little Richard. He's the original, those screams, howls, screeches..
Paul McCartney was a BIG fan!

A lot of people, including myself, believe that Little Richard is the true King of rock n' roll.
This was from a movie. The guy that introduces is Alan Freed who is generally given credit for coining the term “Rock n Roll”. One of the 3 guys shown at a table, the one with a curl on his forehead, is Bill Hailey (Rock Around The Clock)! Richard was an all time great, no question.
Bob Dylan’s senior ambition from his high school year book was “to join Little Richard”
When Bob was inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of fame he acknowledged Little Richard in the audience and said he didn’t think he would be there without Little Richard.

Wooo-hoooo! The self-professed King and Queen of Rock and Roll! My grandpa recorded several of Little Richard’s early songs. He really hit it off my grandma and visited them a couple of times at the studio later in his career. ❤️

Little Richard(RIP)is/was the ORIGINAL Rock and Roller. Period. Both of these tunes combined in this one movie piece were two of his best recorded live performances ever but my favorite is the re-recorded version of Rip It Up.
I did read that the original lyrics to Tutti Fruti were “Tutti Frutti good booty”. That’s what I sing to myself. Loved Little Richard!
Little Richard IS rock n roll. Huge influence on The Beatles and everyone else who came after him.
The Beatles covered this song (Long Tall Sally) and got sued for not paying the royalties for recording it! In the court decision, they were ordered to record two more Little Richard songs and to pay Little Richard the royalties!
Man!! Still find it hard to believe my dad was the one who introduced me to musicians like Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Chubby Checker. Then had the audacity to back them up with Nat King Cole, The Platters and The Drifters. That Greatest Generation was just full of untold surprises. Plus, along with Rock & Roll, they also had Doo Wop and Bebop Jazz. What a legacy!!
Richard Penniman was a SUPER STAR. He helped get the Beatles get their start, while in the U.K, Little Richard had an entire Stadium and had the Beatles come as his BACK UP band! Oh yeah. Check out his latter album, "The Rill Thing." LP . . . "Freedom Blues!"

If I remember correctly, the cut-shot to the three gentleman at the table - the one in the middle, with the cowlick is none other than Bill "Rock Around the Clock" Haley.
If you can't bob your head or tap your feet you have no feeling. All I hear is straight up rock and roll that's a lot of fun.
Little Richard, a li'l understated in this performance. He's normally a lot more flamboyant. He was a force of nature. One of the fathers of rock n roll. This music is timeless, and it was great to see you boppin along.
One can argue about details, but you have just witnessed one of the creators of the foundation of rock and roll.

Saw Little Richard in 1971 at a big rock concert. Two bands didn't show up so he filled in and proceeded to steal the show! Up on top of the piano and everyone on the stage boogie-woogie time. He was awesome!

Little Richard could make you bop till you drop & twist till you pissed. And he got in trouble back in the 90s for saying so on American TV. He was an amazing performer, all the way around. He was the self-proclaimed Queen of Rock & Roll.

Alan Freed is the guy that introduced llLittle Richard.He was instrumental in promoting rock n roll shows in the 50's He wouldvput together huge concerts with the biggest stars of the day.He was as big as Dick Clark in promoting rock n roll.
Jimmy Hendrix played in Little Richard's band for a hot minute in the mid 60s.

When I was 17 yrs. I heard him sing fell in love with him and his music. Bought all his records and love to dance to his records followed his music and him till he sadly passed away. I cried that day but he is in a good place with our lord and still playing. I was in Scotland when I first heard him then came to USA . Got to take my two sons to see him in concert gosh that was a dream.of a lifetime we also had close to front of theater I'm 80 now and still love him happy memories for me !!🏴🏴

I watched a you tube video called "before the Beatles were famous", it had a scene where Richard and Paul were at a piano and Paul tried the Wooo and Richard said he needed to be a little sharper. He did it again and Richard said you have the pitch right but you need more energy, so he did it with more energy and Richard said you got it, end of scene. I think it was the tour that Eddie Cochran died on, they brought in the Beatles to finish the tour, they were at the bottom of the list they didn't replace Eddie. So the story of Richard teaching Paul the wooo is true, there's video of it.

OMG! I have not thought about Little Richard in ages. I'd say he was important to rock'roll but that would be a lie. He IS important and always will be a wonderful linchpin of the genre. Love you Richard. You always made me smile.

Little Richard is one of my Dad's all time favourites! My parents were teens in the late50s/early 60s. He finally got to see him live in the UK - it wasn't until my Dad was in his 60s (i think) but my Dad said Little Richard was just as full of energy as always and gave a great performance.

Note in the middle of his career Little Richard to a hiatus to attend a Bible College in Huntsville Alabama. He is buried in this college graveyard.
At 1:58 you see three men at a table the one in the middle with the curl is Bill Haley . Bill Haley and his comets recorded 'Rock Around the Clock' in 1954 . He was a very popular singer at the time.

The beatles toured with Little Richard in Hamburg, before they hit it big and were just a little club band. They studied Little Richard every night and learned from the master. They covered his songs and of course, the wooo, is from him.
