    Idkkk man I picked out the Black Lion every time in the blind. The difference was obvious to me every time like night and day.

    I think BLA is better.Because Low-end is clear than internal. So I feel bla is bigger sound than internal.

    You're the man for this! Have been using the BL clock for a while now and was thinking about getting the AD+ for about a month now. I believe you just helped me pull the trigger. 🙌 I have the Apollo 16 MK2. Where I can really tell the difference with the clock is when recording Vocals in, rather than using the internal clock. It's very clear and crisp. Also for anyone just using an internal clock from an interface, I notice the low end gets tighter and a little more sheen on the top in from the BL clock when mixing. However, that's not with any Mastering grade AD converters, simply from the interface.

    I think it makes a huge difference only in the recording stage to clock together different equipment but in the audio mixing mastering stage, it doesn't change anything.

    I was under the impression that the difference would be more so in the recording and the sample rate of the better word clock would capture the sound more rock solid make the actual wave different but playing back a previously recorded song on to different clocks wouldn’t show much difference as it will only show how the word clock that captured the initial recording sounds

    Thanks for the video!
    I love that blind text plugin! I was able to hear the difference and I guessed which test was the BL every time (listening through my phone speakers too, I imagine on real speakers the difference would be more noticeable)
    Guys, don’t listen to these goofballs saying there is no difference. It’s a shame they can’t hear the difference and feel the need to tell everyone else they’re crazy, however subtle that difference is. The BL is a little more open on top I think

    Well it was not easy as presented. But after careful examination I have clearly learned that BLA does the job.
    I have however about a 1 minute dilemma what sound is better.
    Internal clocking just graded the overall problems of digital records. I’m kinda sure that BLA would work on master record with full quality while it is noticeably audible in TH-cam video at 96kbps.
    Thank for the option.
    First test was iPhone 15 pro max.
    Then I switched to high-end setup with precise hd800.
    I would work on mine setup with new clock.

    On my set up the BLA gives a better stereo image especialy on the second test.

    I had the same clock for some time. It made a difference especially on the high frequencies when recording at 96 in my system. But mixing wise and the hassle of switching sample rates manually made me sell.

      Well. It must not have made that big of a difference lol. I’m in the same boat though…yah it makes a difference but is it better or just different….not different enough for me to keep it.

    Hey Matty, thanks for the video. I'm wondering how you're using the Solaris and your Trinnov Box - if the Solaris analog outs are feeding the Trinnov, is there something about using the Solaris DAC that's wasted since the Trinnov will do its own A/D and D/A conversion (post the Solaris) before hitting the speakers? Or are you using the Solaris purely for your mastering processing chain while feeding the Trinnov a digital out from your interface? EDIT: Or are you feeding the Trinnov a digital input and coming out digital from the Trinnov into the Solarisand then hitting your speakers?

    I could tell in the second example of music that the top one was the AD. For me, it did add a little more depth dynamically. The bass sit more richer and the drums popped out a little more. I'm just here trying to figure out what's my problem with my mixes, and was told by someone I possibly should invest in a Word Clock. But, as this demonstrated, both of the mixes sounded great, and it most definitely going to fix my overall problem as the comparisons weren't THAT noticeable🤦‍♂

    Sir, what do you recommend?
    I have an RME UFX MK1,
    Should I buy an old Prism and use it as a clock, should I buy a Micro Clock XB, Or should buy a newer interface like a Neumann mt48???

    I can hear quite a difference on my DT-1990 PRO and I thought the same after listening to the first example that the first one on the second song was the BL. Hard to believe that this was actually true as it sound exactly as clear as the AD on the first song. I can't get rid of the thought that there was something wrong.

    Hi! Matty! I am interested in Trinnov ST2 Pro, my room is kinda small so I can't put to much acoustic treatment in it, most problems is in the low end so do you think that Trinnov ST2 Pro is the way to go then?. I use Sound ID and that is ok but I guess Trinnov is much better. Best/Mathias

      @mixedbymatty  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man The trinnov def helps. But you gotta have some bass traps for low-end. I actually just bought the Trinnov D- mon cause I needed more i/o so my ST2 will be on sale soon. :)

    What’s the sound like at 44.1k 16 bit as this is all 96k? No good for me as I run my system at 44.1.

    But of course if you have higher end a to d converters and not the entry level stuff then of course word clock is a little erroneus however if you have multiple a/d or d/a systems running, no 2 are alike so word clock has a place but if you are not running multiple units for like a 100 instruments or more or whatnot maybe it doesn't matter

    Hey matty what do you think of Atmos mixing? Do you think it's a gimmick. I heard it's an extension of 7.1 and Apple music supports the format on their store but I heard that many songs sound weird and unnatural.

    The only time you're gonna hear a difference is if you are using a PLL style clock Like you would get in any RME interface. against a crystal oscillating clock. When the jitter is greatly reduced from 800ps down to -1ps. That's when you were going to hear a difference. Anytime jitter is reduced more than a 150ps you are definitely gonna hear a difference. All of that gear you are running like you're dangerous audio already has a crystal clock in it I'm pretty sure. And if it's a PLL style it's one of the top of the line ones that's why you're not hearing a difference

    • @untml
      @untml ปีที่แล้ว

      RME interfaces are regenerating the clock, if you connect external clock it will have the same jitter performance, this been tested and showed by RME. It may even be a little degradable but not audible.

    • @timperry2375
      @timperry2375 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@untml interesting. The RME uxc vs the uxc ii has the the steady clock fs, rather than the old steady clock on the original uxc. Supposedly the steady clock fs better rejects jitter even for external clocks. Would you say there'd be any difference between these interfaces (in terms of reduced jitter) with external clocks and ad converters connected to these interfaces?

    • @untml
      @untml ปีที่แล้ว

      @@timperry2375 jitter reduction with fs should be better but if you want the "best clock" just use the internal.

    • @untml
      @untml ปีที่แล้ว

      there is no audible difference, ironically external clocking can only make measurement looks a little worse, this been proved technically countless times yet people still believe in this sank oil.
      why all this master clock brands don't publish tests of the improvements with a variety of converters?
