    You're the man! I never really understood what Word Clock was despite the fact I've been recording stuff for like 15 years. Thank you.

    So what if Im just running 2 different preamps? I'm trying to utilize my 12 channel hybrid mixer with an ISA 428 and 828, 12 channels of SLIGHTLY portable awesome. Does these get ADAT and word clock to sync? And which is the lock vs slave?

    I’m running 3 Avid 16-I/O interfaces and a Trinnov D-Mon 6. I’ve just purchased an Antelope OCXHD as a master clock but, nobody’s told me whether or not to remove the loop sync cables from the 16-I/Os. ???

    • @cinema_sound5003
      @cinema_sound5003  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything has to be connected somehow to the master. Loop cables should stay in for the interfaces. Otherwise they wouldn't have any connection to clock. And loop sync is proprietary and better than standard word. Thanks!

    Hi ! Nice video. I have an Apollo Twin X, only has ADAT in. And I am running an Audient Mico (2preamps with AD conversion into Apollo through ADAT cable inside ADAT in of Apollo). Only Mico has word clock in, so Apollo Twin X is slave and Mico is master. Does this affects the audio convertion quality of the Apollo? Help please.

    Hello, I have a rosetta 200 and I intend to use it with an apogee quartet.
    the apogee quartet will be connected to my pc
    I intend to use the out 5/6 to output the sound from the daw process in my art pro vla 2 compressor and enter the rosetta 200 to convert to A/D using the optical cable Out from the rosetta 200 to the In adat of the apogee quartet.
    Is using word lock in this case interesting and should it work?
    the apogee quartet has a WC out
    the apogee rosetta 200 has WC In and Out.
    Will the Apogee Rosetta 200 be the master in fact?

    Finally… someone who can explain this so I can understand it and not put me to sleep! Appreciated 👍
    Otherwise when linking my interface to an ADAT expander I most likely would have assumed an adat cable alone was enough.

    So if I have 3 interface two of which I use adapt to expand plus a dangerous ad convert which is my last ad conversion So if I purchase a master clock what unit would be the input into that clock My main interface and the out of that clock to all units. I’m a bit confused as you can tell. I am currently having an issue with distortion in one of my focusrite adapt signals

    • @johnc.4625

      Cinema Sound so a dedicated master clock would not be better?

    • @johnc.4625
      @johnc.4625 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cinema Sound I figured the units clock although a high end unit. Focusrite Red 16 was not handling the multiple adapts too two other units plus the bnc to the ad convert which is , I believe resulting in the Adat not functioning properly on one of the units. Very distorted. Thought perhaps a dedicated master clock for all units might give me better results

    My audio interface does not have any jacks for clock cables (spdif, adat, etc). I have a basic UMC404HD by Behringer. How would I incorporate a word clock device to my Behringer? I ask this question because I plan to purchase dedicated mic preamps in the future so I have more varieties of preamps. So, in my case, do I need a master clock device? I shall wait for your response. Thanks in advance.

    i own the antelope synergy core .i want to use adat and spdif together .my question is do i have to connect antelope and the other pres with word colck? or just connect only the spdif with word clock ?

  • @untml
    @untml ปีที่แล้ว

    if your sync is working with the optical connection you don't need to connect word clock cable.
    since it's depends on the products involved the only way to know if you experience "improvement" from word clock cable it tasting the signal noise floor. jitter manifest itself as noise floor but 99% of the time the jitter noise will be lower than other noise contributing parts in the chain.

    I have an Apollo interface and I have a friend who have the same but with an external clock and he keep telling me that I need to buy one to see the difference in the plugins response and clarity ... how true is that?? He keep saying that he can’t work with out it...

    • @cinema_sound5003

      You don't need one of those interfaces. Unless you're doing SUPER high end audio. Otherwise, your Apollo is just fine.

    The $6k clock from Antelope needs to be put in perspective. Its not what I would consider expensive when you consider the following mistake most "producers" have made.
    You've spent years trying to reverse engineer all platinum hit recordings released from Warner brothers, and many others, and don't want to waste 1 million dollars building a studio, buying the $250k console, and fill the back wall with $150k in rack gear, only to realize you can't achieve the same sound as Warner. In a realization of your foolish mistake you sell off everything and mix on your laptop with a $6k master clock, knowing this to have been the secret all along. The SOS test was done by someone who doesn't understand this. You really only notice a difference when you are playing back multitracks with 40 plugins, and multiple sub mix effects running.

    • @untml
      @untml ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry but this is completely audiophile nonsense.
      First, the price of products today have nothing to do with the quality of the final results.
      What you probably earing is experience and good workmanship. Save your money.
      Antelope atomic clock and other master clock promising better performance is pure marketing nonsense.
      Playing 40 channel multitracks or 2 channel audio will not "show this difference" in jitter, this disproof many times before, to play 40 channels you will need to lower the volume of each, whatever change in sound/side effect will be lowered in the same magnitude.
      Master clock are used to sync multiple units. that it. Most of "clock recivers" reclock the clock signal so any "improvement" would be "lost" even if it was true.
      If you saying improvement can be heard but not tested this is audiophile nonsense by definition, all parameters of exact audio reproducing are known and this proved many times by null testing.
      Ask yourself one question, If this was true and master clock could improve sound, why any of this brands don't publish a clear tests that show exactly that?

    I still use word clock from my Yamaha 02R to my two Motu 828 mk2 running 16 digital channels into my computer via FireWire. I have an Akai S5000 as the last machine in the chain. Don’t forget to BNC terminate the last machine.
    It makes a huge difference to the sound.
    All BNC cables should be 75 ohms and the same length.
