Hi David. Great video as always. It would be interesting to hear you talk about adding 'glue' to the mix. I know there's been some videos on compression, etc., but I know it is a combination of things, and it would be great to hear your summary, common mistakes you see, etc. Thanks either way.

I've been watching gear related videos for a while now, and i noticed that some people have a hard time understanding that people like david are running a business. All this expensive gear helps them bring more customers in and it makes their job easier saying stuff like converters are useless or gear is useless is just dumb its like telling a concert guy that he doesn't need a mixer because he can mix it in wheelbarrow lol yes its possible but it'll take forever to finish 1 driveway and it'll look really bad

No one is knocking the nice stuff that actually makes a huge difference. Equalizers, compressors and tube/transformer saturation devices.
But when it comes to converters well... There is a point where the audio dust is being sniffed.
Especially if you abuse the brick wall limiter settings... It's like buying the best circular power saw and then making inprecise cuts simply because you can.

@AR7271 i was just saying what i saw in the comments of lots of videos, but if someone is buying a 3k convert, then they are abusing it they shouldn't be buying it imo even if they have to think about the purchasing it few times it just means the business isnt there yet im saying it strictly in business point of view not whats good and whats bad i noticed high end engineers have very very expensive setups im sure some devices are just their dream toys that they always wanted which is also cool 😉

I understand what he was trying to ask because when I first learned about converters and decided also to purchase and RME ADI-2 FS I didnt fully understand AD/DA conversion and I thought that I had to do something special to make it convert through my ADI- 2 PRO. I didnt understand that as long as I have it connected correctly and as long as I'm printing in real time using studion one 6 that the conversion was happening with the ADI. Before that I didnt know if I had to connect a certain way or change a setting in the unit to make it use the ADI converters. I just needed to research more and understand conversion more and how the unit worked with my DAW and my setup since this was my first time owning any piece of hardware and I mostly mix and master. I initially didnt know If it was working or not because i didnt understand converters and conversion.

I remember my first "holy shit" moment with converters years ago.
Nearly 2 decades ago my first audio card was an RME pci card that you plugged directly into. Once I had the cash I replaced it with the RME hammer fall 9652 and Apogee AD16x. It blew me away and I still have that same setup with ADI8 doing DA. Converters definitely make a difference and make life easier.

Hey man! I don't really have a question, but was hoping for advice. My outboard gear has outgrown the available Analog I/O on my interface. I do have available ADAT In and Out on it though. And I am eventually going to upgrade my interface but I will still need more I/O regardless of the interface I choose because I do not want to sacrifice any mic pre's for additional I/O if that makes sense. So I was wondering what you would recommend for mid to high end converters? Specifically something with at least x8 line ins and outs and ADAT ins and outs.
