i feel like this is a prime example of someone trying to do a deal with a family friend and that family friend signed the title and left their house to instantly go file for a lost title so he could keep their money and his truck if that's what happened hopefully he gets what's coming to him.
Hopefully the guy will but in the mean time, it doesn't mean that people have to be terrible and make matters worse which is what I see in this video. Dustin is just doing what his boss tells him but sometimes, you gotta be a bigger person then the situation at hand and know when you are wrong. This is why people hate tow truck drivers. They pretend to care but in reality, its all about their job which they always have a choice in how they deal with it.
@@Nevoexpo By the time a repo hits they are several months behind on payments, minimum. Yeah it’s dirty work, but you gotta pay your bills (or at least make your best effort). Stealing is wrong, and it doesn’t quite belong to you until it’s paid off.
If she has the title and I saw it signed over to that lady I wouldn't have towed it it's easy enough to see if the seller signature is there. plus she has the title!! I'm gonna pull all my old car title copies call a tow truck and go ham on all my old customers. Wtf? His boss says I have a copy.... That's dumb as hell.
This is an unfortunate family matter. This truck is a beast. Has a 390 in it. I was one of the owners of it for a little bit. It's low-geared and straight-piped. It's been sitting for a few years. It's a beast of a truck. Won't get in the middle of this situation though.
My first tow-truck was a '76 F350 (In the 90's)...wish they still made trucks like that! Simple, bulletproof and cheap when they were new. They could do what trucks were intended to do...no carpet or electric tailgates, like on these over-priced ridiculous delicate monstrosities. I'd love to have the truck in this vid!
If she actually has a signed title from the previous owner then that means the previous owner filed for a duplicate/lost title and that's what the tow company has. If that's the case then someone's in deep shit. I can't understand why any company would want to get involved with a private matter like this.
Regardless, he was the registered owner. They failed to follow the law, and register the vehicle within 30 days of purchase. It wasn’t their vehicle legally, they were just in possession of it.
Your seat is probably still in place I'm guessing. Which is more than can be said for tor this truck. That would be a nice one to get and bring up to date.
@@Nevoexpo If I were in that situation my friend. I’d communicate with the lien holder. My experiences have shown time and time again. They’re willing to work with people. Laid off of a job , health issues etc. I have always given them respect whether they wanted it or not. 💯Therefore it’s not personal to me in the sense it’s a job in which had to be done.
No it was not personal neither did he care about not damaging the truck. He jus threw the chain all on the tailgate half-assed. He made it personal when he did that I hope the repossor sees this video.

Pretty smooth! A friendly critique, though: Don’t ever hand the angry/upset person your phone; she could have thrown it or taken it, even if it’s a work phone it would still be a hassle, and with it being unlocked she could get numbers or potentially emails or any other important information off of it.
That’s a very true statement, I was on a repo a couple years ago. I let the lady use my phone to talk to the Lien holder. She didn’t like what was required. She threw my phone down to the ground and shadowed the screen. 🤬
@@Towtruck_Dustin nope civil charge destruction of private property, you'd have to sue in small claims court, maybe get a lawyer then try to collect on the judgment.

@@perez-gaara Abso-freaking-lutely. The last used car I bought from a private seller was a 1974 VW Beetle back in 2010. Even though the motor was out of the car as the previous owner had blown up the engine (gotta watch the valve lash), the car registered the next day, as there was no way in hell that I was going to dump time and money into rebuilding the engine, only to get screwed over.
@@perez-gaara There does not have to be a sales contract for there to be a reposition. I've had to run repositions exactly like this. All you have to have is the original title and paperwork. Proving you own the vehicle and be willing to pay the toe company to go get it. Generally, you wanna inform the police and dot your eyes and cross your teeth? But then you can just go get it. A few years back, there was a scam similar to this where somebody would sell a car and they would turn around and have the car repaid because they sold the car with a replacement title but kept the original. By the time it got into the courts, the person who pulled the scam was already out of the state. What I'm saying is if these people were honest and were given the really needed to register it back in their name. Or this brother could have taken it any time he felt like it. I never heard anywhere in the videos that there was actually a contract.
every time ive ever bought or sold a car from a private party, after agreeing to buy i would agree to meet them at the DMV with cash in hand, that way we can pay, sign the title over and get the plate at the same time,
Wow, this video brings back some terrible memories of when I co-signed a vehicle for a family member. I was a young teenager so I didn't know any better. My family member stopped paying on the vehicle and I got a call from the loan company so I paid off the remaining balance and had the Title sent to me in my name only. Called up a tow company and showed that I had the title in my name and we went and picked up the vehicle. It was scary and messy. My family was mad at me for a while but we reconciled. The one thing that lesson taught me is to NEVER, I mean NEVER co-sign for anything else. I won't even co-sign anything for my own child. My child knows not to even ask me.
@@gergnotsloh I said YOUNG because a teenager of any age is very young compared to full grown adults that have been around for half a century. The word teenager would have worked. Saying "young" teenager implies you were a young teenager, hence why it was confusing. Everyone older than a teenager understands a teenager is young. Also, following the storyline would have cleared nothing up about it. The other person commented specifically because they were a bit thrown off how a 13 year old could co-sign on something. That's why they made the comment.@@Sparkle-ButterFly
About 30 years ago i was (briefly) a one ton wrecker operator. As far as securing a steering wheel, I was taught to do a simple hitch with a rope, pinch it in the front of the door jamb and do a simple knot to keep it from going slack. Seems a lot simpler than messing with a ratchet strap.
I used to pick up junk cars when I had my wrecker. I'd just use an old fan belt looped through the steering wheel and closed in door jam. I like Dustin's use of the ratchet strap better though.....
It'll be pretty bad for the P.O. if these people have a signed clear and DATED title with no lien on it in court. Even though they failed to transfer in a timely matter, getting the truck repoed claiming to be the owner after you signed the title away will get you some charges.

You dont own classic cars do you pol. 50+ year old vehickes alot of em dont have titles. Some older vehickes never had titles back then. But usually whwn you buy older classics.. Its a bill of sale.. As titles are long gone. Not on record anymore either. Or the person who owned it died. I have a 76 Thats bill of sale only. I gatta get a title for it but i bought it. With it sitting in the field for 22 years. A written bill of sale is legal to show you own the vehicle. In this situation though they have the titles and just didnt transfer it. Which is stupid on there part
If you watch the video pol, you’ll notice the first words out of her mouth are “I have the title” The title does nothing if the new buyers are avoiding taxes and costs and never get it transferred. This truck isn’t 50 years old. Most states do have antique and vintage titles. I’ve had a 1966 C10, and a 1964 D100 Sweptline. Both had titles pol. When you try to chest the system…you risk losing. As a Maintenance Supervisor we helped the Sheriff's Department execute evictions. Sheriff would hand the resident the eviction notice and we would remove everything from the apartment and put on the curb off the property. Some of them were pretty hairy at times. The bad part was if the resident wasn't prepared or stayed with the belongings the Vultures showed up and helped themselves to the furniture. Sad, especially with children.
It's sad to think of how many out there have no problem doing that to someone at a low point in their life. Here in a small town of around 10,000 I wouldn't see people taking stuff unless it had a 'free' sign sticking to it

This is why Pennsylvania makes it mandatory that you transfer the title at a title place (AKA tag place or notary). You are not allowed to just pay cash for title in hand. This is to protect both parties. Old owner can't be held liable for what happened after the transaction and new owner has proof of ownership, notarized.
Same here in CA. I had to junk a car I never got the title transferred because it wouldn't pass smog. But the DMV strait up told me you never bought this car. I ended up having to pay the junkers 300 bucks to come take it, they told me they would have to cut the car in half.
So true about pa, even tho I don't like their state inspection but it does come in handy buying used cars from private sellers when they say it's out of inspection but it will pass and I'm like why can't you do inspection for sale.
@@TorryGood and that inspection is a joke to begin with. Overall though PA is OK. They even did away with registration stickers. You do it all online and print your registration yourself. I read somewhere that just the postage, envelopes and stickers save $5 to $7 million a year.
I'm on the lady's side. If she has title then the trucks paid in full. She just has to fill out the info on title and go to BMV to get it submitted. She needs to get a lawyer and sue the seller. If the seller handed her the title then he was paid in full. She just needs to go to BMV with title to get her name transferred. It's an open shut case if she decides to take the seller to court.
We had a copy of the title, which means she didn’t have it. Not only that, it wasn’t registered to her, so legally it wasn’t hers. As I said above, just because it’s in your possession doesn’t mean you own it.
@Towtruck_Dustin if the title she had was signed by the previous owner, meaning he released all interest in it, then it belongs to her..doesn't matter if he is the current registered owner or not.. He signed a legal document stating he is releasing all interest in that vehicle BEFORE applying for a lost title..if she has a title signed by him then the title was never lost!..The previous owner is a scammer.
@mebe2k That's the current owner's fault and now the truck is gone. She never showed anything so it's her word against what the repo operator has on file. You always make sure you have a completed and notarized title, fill out an application for a certificate of title to a vehicle (In Ohio at least), and pay with a check (Can always cancel payment if a scam is caught soon enough)

Some people may be asking themselves why would he put so much effort into repoing such an old truck. It's because these old trucks are worth a ton of money (even if it's a shell) and the people trying to steal them know it. im not sure how it works in the US but here in Canada, tow companies get hired by the courts after the lien holder decides to file his case and they issue what is called a Warrant for Repossesion so the sheriff of the courts will show up with the tow company, hand you the warrant and you have no choice but to surrender the vehicle, but they can also reposses the vehicle and are not required to give you information.

Just curious, maybe some folks more in the know than me on such matters can enlighten me...if they genuinely hold the title, how can anyone else get a repo order for it? By not registering it, did that leave a back door for the original owner to get a replacement title for it?
If they genuinely held the title they wouldn’t be freaking out about the repo. They would know that their getting the truck back and some sort of compensation from the tow company, probably a couple of free tows.
Yes, by not having the title officially transferred by the state, the PO was still the "official owner" as a matter of law. And so the original owner could contract out on a repo like this to recover it, and the towing company is in the clear (legally speaking, but the company definitely has ethical issues with willingly taking part in a scam). This is one reason why it's important to transfer title ASAP....... as the PO can simply file lost title and get a new one then do something like this if they wanted. Best to do the official transfer immediately.
@@davemccage7918 Getting the truck back after such a point would involved lawyers and the courts, which costs money. And given the lack of ethics of this two company and the fact they are willing to operate just within the limits of law, I doubt they would get shit from the tow company. The tow company got its money from the PO, and the official paperwork on record with the state clears them of any "wrongdoing" in terms of law.

You need to be be careful with private party repos, if the seller has not filed a lien against the title this is theft that is why I always refused these types of repos! Though this sounded like a lot of family drama and can rope you into a domestic abuse situation.
Because she knew they screwed up by being too lazy to go get the title switched. Regardless of who was right in this deal without the title in her name she has no leg to stand on if the PO wants to play these games. The state can't account for the old title being signed by a seller sitting in the new owners home.
unless they take the title to the DMV and have it put in their name, it’s still in the original owners name and they can take it back, plenty of stories of that happening
If she did have a signed legal title, that would made thid a civil matter. The title should state buyer and his signature under seller.if he signed that title , it's thier truck..The title is a legal sale document. Titling is a DMV issue..

What a random comment on the engine and the specs 😂
If she actually has a signed title from the previous owner then that means the previous owner filed for a duplicate/lost title and that's what the tow company has. If that's the case then someone's in deep shit.
I can't understand why any company would want to get involved with a private matter like this.
Regardless, he was the registered owner.
They failed to follow the law, and register the vehicle within 30 days of purchase.
It wasn’t their vehicle legally, they were just in possession of it.

I actually keep a rope like this in my truck, but I wasn’t in my truck.
I used to pick up junk cars when I had my wrecker. I'd just use an old fan belt looped through the steering wheel and closed in door jam. I like Dustin's use of the ratchet strap better though.....

@davemccage7918 some one takes your property yes you would be upset
If I remember correctly, he resorted to meth which certainly made his situation worse. Trouble with law enforcement too. I remember some of his updates seemed promising, but they were inconsistent. His kids must have felt like they lost both parents.
I remember watching a lot in 2015, but I don’t really remember the last update I saw. I really hope he’s doing better now.
@@drunkentrain Yeah man, you definitely watched him as well. He even used a drone for recon in some of his later vids. Shanda was everything to him and she never got to see her 40s, gone too soon.
Then he lost his dog too. I remember one of his last repo vids he had a ride-a-long that asked if they were going to go score some junk later, that moment seared in my mind the fact that this man hit rock bottom and it really sucked to see him like that.
He appeared to be in higher spirits in his latest updates, but I just found out he got busted with more drugs and trying to sell stolen guns a year ago, so that combined with the fact that he's been radio silent for the last 2 years leads me to believe he's probably currently doing hard time in a Utah prison. Just a sad situation all around.
@@somethingtrulyhorrifying I totally forgot about the pets and the drones! I especially remember one repo where it was in a garage below ground level where the truck would not be able to fit because it was too tall. He still needed take the car, so he put dollies on each wheel and pushed the car maybe 50ft (I haven't seen it since he uploaded it so I could be misremembering the distance) by himself towards his truck just enough where he could pick it up with the truck's arms. I was so impressed when I saw that! I have yet to see any other repo channel do anything like that and be so engaging that I remember all of it years later.
I haven't seen any updates in years, so I could also be misremembering this, but I'm pretty sure it was discovered that he'd been to prison prior to starting he RepoNut stuff. If that's true, that does not surprise me at all given how level headed he was when doing repossessions in run down neighborhoods and when he would say how he needs to do a repo fast because he anticipated violence or a gun being pulled. As if he had experience in such places and situations. I also remember that time when he wasn't so level headed and drove off knowing the guy was still in the car he was driving away with. Then him acknowledging later that he lost his cool and that it was wrong to do.
During one of the last updates I saw, I don't know if was his channel, but I saw a then recent mugshot of him. All I can say is that he look weathered. It's tragic what happened to him and his family. It's also tragic that if he had been into crime prior to his business, then he had really turned his life around. Then he returned to all that after losing everything.
@@drunkentrain Yeah that was a slick move with the dollies. I also remember thinking how devious one could be if they wanted to prank someone by using those dollies to move a car somewhere and then pretend someone stole it.
His record goes back to the early 90s so all of that about his past is true. At least that's what he said on a reddit post a couple years ago. As far as I can surmise, as an outsider looking in, she was the glue keeping him together and losing her was the significant event that sent him into the downward spiral back into that criminal lifestyle, but he never actually hurt anyone, at least not on purpose.
@@somethingtrulyhorrifying OK. I was unaware of the Reddit thing. It's wild that I haven't thought about RepoNut in years and then all of sudden you mentioning him brought up so many memories. There was something about him where he provided exciting footage of a job that is all about putting feelings aside to recover things that people beg you not to take, while also being being genuine about his feelings as he thinks out loud while taking us on a ride to whatever destination he was going to next.
It's actually quite profound given that from the outside, he's a guy that wears a bandana on his head and drives a big truck with LED's and an obnoxious sound system, but then even if unwittingly, shares a great deal about the hardships of his life. Contradicting the perceived idea of someone like him. He even shared himself crying more than once. There is also meaning to be found in the realm of consequences of not paying your bills and the bad actors on both sides of the title loan. Then there's also him having to practice great patience sometimes to find difficult repossessions, but also coming across vehicles that were never recovered no matter how patient he was.
I'm going to stop now; I don't know why I'm going so deep with RepoNut. Anyway, nice to be reminded of him. I really do hope he ends up OK, even if it's without Shanda.
I had to do that with a car I sold once gave the dude a year to change it over and he kept getting me in trouble with his city eventually the fines cost me more then he paid for the car so I went and took it back
Yep. That what a lot of people don’t understand. You’re still legally responsible for it if they don’t change the title over
how long after a seller sells the vehicle can they repo it ?
The registered owner can have it repo’d at any time
I couldent do a job like that what do you do if they come outside with a gun
I wish that was being towed to my house! I hope that family finds peace.
Awesome, Repo! Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank You!
I don't know the story here but if you have the title in hand like the lady said that means she does not have a lean and the truck is whomever the title is issued to from the legal side. The repo would have been illegal and considered auto theft in my states.
The registered owner had the title. I had a copy of it in my hand in the video. She even admitted to it not being registered in her name.
I work at an auto auction it is hard to tow a full size pick up there is a load limit on the tow arm...
Sounds like you’re using under rated trucks.
I would never hand my phone to someone getting a vehicle repo'd out of their yard. x10 if they are emotional
I. think that boy with the tow truck could've taken that woman if he had to.
Hello, those emergency lights on the roof. How do you get to use red & blue, or only when your stable can be used?
I can’t lie as much as I love the flat beds, repos are much more entertaining to watch, Question, I wonder what’s the story, how does one owe payments for a 47 year old truck?
I didn’t know you can finance an old truck
Never mind I watched the complete video. He stopped payments.
Turns out that it was a family dispute actually.
@@Towtruck_Dustin man I can’t imagine the drama, I’m just happy you made it out in one piece before the son showed up
I have two newer die cast ram tow trucks what year is this one
2021.
that was a family court matter you should have never got into. because if they prove they paid in full you just stole there vehicle. which you can be charged and sued for !!! that's when it comes to family shit I walk away from that and have the cops deal with it !!!
No, It was a legal repo.
"He's a trouble-makin' bastard" LMFAO
Not sure about the law in TX but all they had to do in CA is close and lock the driveway gate and it's inacessible W/O a court order to enter the property. but that dang pallet banging like a shotgun didn't help
The law is the same in Texas. Can’t force entry if the vehicle is locked in private property.
Nobody does it dirtier than family. Gotta love em and they're gonna treat you worse than you could ever imagine. Then for a break, they will send you on an all expense (you will need to pay) guilt trip vacation. Still gonna miss em when they r gone tho.
There is always three side to every story. His, hers, and somewhere in the middle is the truth.
Yep. He said, she said.
Why do you not carry a strap to put around the steering wheel and then close the door on the strap? That is how I did it for many years. I never used the seat belt.
I do, in my truck. But I wasn’t in mine for this.
A 70s era Dentside Ford truck or Square Body Chevy truck is the last thing I'd expect to see repo'd. Why in the world did the seller "tote the note" himself? I would never do that!
It was a family dispute.
Looks to me like they did buy the truck and had a signed title(which no one is gonna sign without payment) but via a technicality they got it repoed because they didn't register it within 30 days. That's really dirty if it's the case they basically stole the truck back from these people. Not sure though.
👏👏👏👏 great job, another rust box repo’d so you can make $72!
I just heard the sad news about Beverly. She was an amazing woman who made a huge difference. Sending our condolences to the entire Cambell’s Towing family at the loss of one groundbreaking woman.
Thank You. Tomorrow is her funeral, and I’m honored to be the one who gets to tow her to her final resting place.
@@Towtruck_Dustin we will say a prayer for all of y’all as she is laid to rest. I’m from BC so I am familiar with the woman she was.
Another sad but, necessary one! I'm guessing that truck had memories attached to it. Which is why the lady was so distraught.
Always love your work like that, wish you full of energy and do it well.
Thank You!
47 years still making payments 😂😂😂😂
You obviously didn't pay attention to what's going on in this video...
Who else loves Tow Truck Dustin?
Thank You!
im pretty sure a signed title is considered relinquishing ownership. also the former owner is suppose to mail in the small white strip of the title to the dmv to show they sold it and are not liable. i know this because i had to pay tickets on a car i sold years before because the guy never registered it. it was even in a city a few hours away. so i told the cops i wanted my car back since they are saying i own it. they refused.
This lady got scammed and you guys assisted in stealing the old women's transportation. You choose the easy way out just to make a buck. Karma is going to come hunting for you.
I hope you had a good happy healthy christmas and new years as well
Nice old truck.
Those Title and Pay Day loan terms can be a B*tch at 50% or more interest. If you can't pay the Loan back don't take out the Loan. And you won't lose your Property.
🔥 REPO'S ARE ALWAYS EXCITING TO WATCH 🔥
This was a pretty good one.
3:05 At this Point, She Could tell You to “Get Off Her Property” and if You didn’t You would Be TressPassing.
This is why you always swap the title over immediately after you buy a vehicle
Exactly.
"We already paid for it but we never transferred the title" Why? Probably because they had a Zerox copy and not the original that has to be signed off by the seller (who was waiting for full payment).....
Sounds like a family dispute, so who knows.
I had one in my shop I knew they wanted to repo and I didn't want to lose my money I had in it so I left a look alike car out front they were exact, a rental. I covered the serial number took off the plate did a Key lock on the doors and trunk and tied a hard hidden cable to the front suspension and bolted it to my Garage Door so when the repo truck took off it would tear down the door. Boy did it make a mess. I won in court I was securing the rental from theft. The Police had a field day but not on me. If you cant identify you do not take it. The car they were after was in the shop on a lift that was broken and would not come down. Court said I did nothing wrong but I did get paid for my work and I needed a new garage door anyway and the rental car company was not mad at me nor was the court. ID the Vehicle first. It was funny.
In ohio were getting the opposite. I'm grabbing brand new cars where they have gotten a title loan. Recently ive got a 20 wrangler, a nice 21 camry r spec. A normal night to us now it 4 to 6. I'm so busy I can't keep up.
Nicely handled! Stay safe!
Thank You!
No respect on this one. There is some hinky shit going on and you just took sides. Could possibly even open yourself up to a lawsuit regardless of "having repo papers" plus I'm amazed you didn't get met at the business end of a shotgun!
Wow jamming that chain against the tailgate just shows how much love you have for job you ginger !
Thank You!
dude who care its a old ugly truck bound for the scrapyard if not all ready pulled out of one from its condition who cares if it gets a chain rubbed against it like it’s going to hurt it anymore
@@tonydetwiler2624 Those are somewhat collectible and that one seems to be in decent shape unless it has major frame rust or something
@@tonydetwiler2624 Not everyone can afford to throw stuff away and buy something new when Its convenient. It takes a lot to keep something that old on the road and that's respectable.
If it was me & my son, that truck would have been on fire in a heartbeat, he should have given it to his parents regardless if they weren't in the position to pay for it, assuming they were the ones who brought him into this world & provided for him until he left the nest?
"Smash and stomp on the phone when you're done, lady, I don't care!"
😁
Awesome job though; be safe brother… most of these people anymore are very unpredictable as hell 😬🤙🏻
question, what happens should some one hit your deployed stinger? just a neral question?
The interesting thing about 47 year old trucks is that they are going UP in value.... A brand new truck, is going straight down.
That’s what so many in the comments section don’t understand
seem that someone that does this for a living you would come better prepare
Better prepared for what? I handled everything.
