Seeing Alex go off and get genuinely pissed about this movie was the most entertaining thing to spawn from it.
Alex is the only reason for me to watch those reviews anymore. Joe says subjective stuff and can never really give any reasoning for anything, but Alex has strong opinions that he can back with super detailed arguments.

The epilepsy lady didn’t get the “special drink” till after her first seizure at the restaurant.
Theres actually a better explaination :) she got the drink upon arrival, but the experimental drugs didnt work that time, so they got her a new drink before going to the beach, which is why she and her partner arrive late to the beach.

A lot of plot holes, but the one with epilepsy was actually covered. She had a seizure so it didn’t work, so they got her to have another cocktail but it took a while to get. So that’s why they were later to the beach than everyone else.

I have a personal rule that rarely fails me: never go to see a M. Night Shyamalan movie in the theater.
I’m still trying to figure out how the hell he gets anyone to green light him directing any movies? I mean sure he had a couple good ones over the years, but he’s had more crap that good ones

The best way to sum it up is a longer twilight zone episode. It’s a movie that rides solely off of a concept and expects you to care more about seeing the scenario played out rather than real characters or story.
I think this movie would have worked better as a Twilight Zone episode.
Exactly this. The ONLY thing it has going for it is the concept and it doesn't even explore it very well or do a good job having interesting human characters come to terms with their situation and what that means.
It just ticks off a few boxes, fills time with crap dialogue and then throws in a twist (not in rhe original story) because M Night literally has to now or he might stop existing.
Could have been an interesting short film in better hands.

M Night is one of those directors you will either love or hate his style. We all know his style by now: unrealistic lifeless dialogue, slow pacing, close up shots of face, twist ending, giving himself a crucial self-indulgent cameo.

@@Cruddy129 With all due respect that's quite the exaggeration just based off overall reception of his past few films (since 2004 even) outside of paid critic reviews.
I've been attending cinema festivals for the better part of the last two decades and I can confirm with certainty that nobody outside of rotten tomatoes or other pay to play critic review sites are even talking about him nevermind praising him.
Now as far as his monetary success goes I guess that's a different story but my point is nobody is really looking out for the next feature he's attached to and that's unfortunately a fact.
With that being said, I'm going to support his films regardless as I appreciate his earlier work and still do find some charm within his style of film making.

I would've ended that right after the doctor explains what was really going on. Theres no real reason to end it on a high note or go further than that. You could leave it as a mystery and call it a day.
I was fine with them surviving… in theory… but it’s so horribly executed. Maybe if only one person survived it would have been more impactful, idk. Hard to judge a single decision in a sea of terrible choices.

I chuckled.
He wasn’t just trying to be artsy with the weird framing. He was trying to have a REVEAL of the kids being much older suddenly. That’s why he was shooting really weirdly at times.
What's sad is the movie is based on the French graphic novel "Sand Castle" which was legit terrifying, cerebral, and sad. Tragic that Shyamalan had to go and ruin it.
M night shamalyan is certainly… unique, but his movies have this weird charm to them that I find entertaining

I went to see the movie with my wife and daughter and we all DIED laughing at that crinkled up woman in the cave. Shit was hilarious, I really hope they didn't intend that to be scary 😂

A lot of metal stuff around AJS, especially in his older videos… Relapse Records artist’s albums were available at the mall record store when I was a kid (late 90’s) and I grew up in bumf*** Maryland. This ended up exposing me to even more underground metal - I will always have love for the label and the bands. Today is the Day is my personal favorite Relapse band...

I thought one person was going to use the wrappers as a suit too. And they’d try and use the needle and thread that went unused from the tumor to stitch it together. Or at the very least a mask/helmet.

When you enter "The" private beach, going through the rocks, it reminds me of being inside a submarine. You can go down no problem but when you resurface too fast, you get the "bends".

When I saw the trailer in theaters, I really thought it was gonna be a Jordan Peele movie. It seemed like his kinda style with his recent movies. Makes me wonder how much better the movie would’ve been if it was directed by him.
It has nothing to do with black people though so he wouldn’t pick it up. Every horror movie he does has to be some commentary on race. Which I mean hey if that’s what you want to do go for it but you could be easily even greater than you already are.

Theory: what if Madrid (the young blonde woman who carried the drinks to the guests after they got off the van at the resort, played by Francesca Eastwood), was the one survivor that Shymalan claimed had drowned after swimming through the coral? It doesn't really make sense how someone would drown after already making it all the way out of the coral & out of the time altering beach.
Plus he was waiting to see if Trent & Maddox would surface in the safe water, probably so that he could stop them from reaching the resort. But because they took so long, he assumed they died & the man over the walkie talkie said they can't afford to have another issue. My guess if that he may have captured Madrid after she swam to shore, & they could be drugging & manipulating her. She did seem a little off from the beginning, especially after Trent & Maddox arrive to knock the drinks out of her hands at the end of the film. She had a bizarre look on her face, like realization.
