Agreed, absolute waste of the premise. We should have seen 20 different universes in detail, met alternative actors in as iconic characters (a universe with anthropological entities nominatively arranged, like Howard the duck, Rocket, cosmo, maybe wolverine playing Wolverine complete with yellow spandex) or just gender swaps or robots or Lego.
whilst i agree, this served the story better. plus ya know marvel ahs a plan, and that plan is we're gonna hold you back on some of your creative decisions because of continuity stuff.

I found it so hilarious how John Krazinski has been getting hounded by MCU fans for years now to play Mr. Fantastic, and he kept saying he had no interest in doing it. So when he FINALLY gave in, they killed him after like not even 5 minutes of screen time. I literally burst out laughing in the theater.
From a comic book fan on TH-cam, it's a norm to kill off characters from alternate universes, due to them actually getting the chance to kill characters off and there's no way they'd be able to make stories out of them.
I love the part where Doctor Strange started traveling from one universe to another to acquire dozens of NFT’s and then selling them in different universes so he could raise more money for the set of the next Avengers film.

Hell I haven't watched a Marvel movie since the original Avengers movie but I have IMAX tickets to this cause it's Sam Raimi's visual aptitude on a gigantic screen. Even through the prism of a very corporate IP that has to be worth a watch.

The biggest problem I have with this movie is that there are no rules at all about what the protagonist and antagonist are capable of. Whenever a rule is established it’s promptly broken. There is no tension at all because either of them can just do some random unimaginable shit to pull themselves out of any situation whatsoever. Then, the one time, the only time in the whole movie where it seemed like something had consequences, when the book was destroyed, a new book is revealed 10 seconds later
Anytime I see Mike and Rich make a mistake, I have faith Jay will highlight their error with the utmost pettiness. He did not disappoint when he edited this video. Bravo.
There are several videos where editor Mike does it to himself, like the baseball bat in Halloween Kills. He knows not to let pride get in the way of a good joke.
Their super hero reviews are always their worst content. These movies are just soulless and not interesting but they know this crap gets the clicks. So they just blandly sit there and review with zero enthusiasm lol.

The fun creative aspects from Raimi carried the movie a ton. Elizabeth also did a fantastic job with her slasher villain character. She stole the show for me. What the most grating aspect of the movie was marvels input. All the non stop exposition that was required, just so they fit into the larger puzzle.
Yeah anytime Raimi was just getting to do his thing and do wacky horror bullshit the enjoyment of the movie would spike significantly. And she definitely seemed to have fun playing those horror scenes.
I liked the part when he turned to face the camera and said "Please watch the new hit film Morbius in theatres now," before masturbating into the camera for twelve minutes.
Jay got worried for Mike after the last re:View and is trying to rekindle the fire, like when Jay caught Rich by surprise by saying he had a Star Trek reference to make.
I really enjoyed the musical notes fight. I always wanted the magic people to use their environment in their finger waggling & it’s always just orange beams & circles. The notes were great.
@@melonhead2477 that was the best part. they actually tried to explore a theme in the effects instead of just throwing a "music notes" skin on their standard magic missile spell. the reactive music was very fitting and the conclusion of the sequence actually followed very loose principles of acoustics. to me it was honestly the best scene in the movie.

SPOILER: My one question throughout this entire film was, if Wanda Maximoff has all this grief due to the death of Vision, and that's the catalyst for these turn of events... then where the hell is Vision? You're telling me that Earth-616 is the only universe within the multi-verse to contain a Vision?
Ima gonna have to ask you to not ask about males in this movie. Males do one of two things in this movie: lose or get blamed for it all. But women? Now they can stand up to anything, and do no wrong. I stopped counting how many times Wanda “wasn’t wrong” and “you’re justified” in her actions.
Two possibilities: Wanda and Vision can't actually have kids so Vision isn't part of her life in any universe where she has kids OR she knows Vision would disagree with and stop her plan so she deliberately avoids a universe with Vision.

The Strange vs Strange musical fight was the highlight of the movie for me. He basically did a class change from a mage to a bard. Am surprised no one mentioned the score during that fight, it was pretty creative with moments of silence and orchestral crescendos.
I'm surprised that you guys reviewed this one, but I love hearing from you. My take away was that Jennifer Garner couldn't be with Dr Strange, because he had control issues(he's always got to be the "one holding the knife"). And the movie was him being confronted by his infinite selves all of whom were control freaks and bringing ruin to every reality. This Strange finally learns to trust and support others by the end of the movie. How effective the movie was at building the story? I'm not sure, but that's my take on it.
Despite having seen this movie only a few months ago, I've forgotten 80% of it. Although I haven't seen the original Doctor Strange for a few years, I still remember 80% of it. The Marvel movies are simply an assembly line of cookie cutter product now and have been for years.
I saw this the other day. The theatre cheered when Jim from The Office showed up. I was like "what?" The picard came out, no one made a sound. So i had to give a wooo solo
My theater and I did the same exact reaction. I know for me, seeing Jim was truly a shocking unexpected moment. But then right afterwards, we get Patrick and he kinda gets absorbed into the overall moment. I was excited for Patrick too, but I wasn't really finished being excited for Jim, if that makes sense. And Jim was more unexpected than Patrick.

Doctor Strange was into music since the beginning of the first movie. While performing a surgery, the other doctors were testing Strange's musical knowledge.
I did enjoy this movie. Seeing Sam Rami's little filmaking tricks warmed my heart. It wasn't amazing, but I was entertained and the story works without getting too convoluted.
I'm confused that Mike missed the true origin of the term "Easter egg", being the only 60 years old man who have read "Ready Player One"... Anyway, anything that is not Depp/Heard related on youtube is welcomed.

The constant creativity with these gags, especially with most of it seeming improv, is so wonderful. The wrong bit had me laughing out loud. So did the ending “I told her p 9 f12”
I love how they continually stamp mike with the wrong stamp everytime he says something inaccurate just to pacify and no doubt avert the deluge of nerds who would repeatedly correct them if they didnt, my sides hurt from laughing so hard at the slow transition stamp on mike freeze framed with the sentimental music, comedy gold.
The music note battle was an interesting idea, but probably executed too on the nose. A musician and a concept artist I think could hash out some really interesting ideas if they thought about the sound and shape of the notes more.
My working theory is that the exchange of notes, and the duel in general, was inspired by the campiness from the wizard duel from The Raven, which is an old Vincent Price movie, which is the person after whom Dr. Strange's appearance was inspired in the comics. I think a lot of the campier elements from this whole movie were a Vincent Price tribute.
The fact the score barely reflects was real wasted potential. Personally, they didn't commit to the camp enough. They should've been launching full symphonies at each other and have their interpretations of the notes merging to make something really chaotic and interesting
Green Goblin: You know I am something of a movie critic myself I find it an interesting coincidence that Sam Raimi is directing the new Strange movie and the end of No way Home plays out as a better battle on a construction site than Spider man 3. I liked this movie I hope Sam Raimi gets to do more. Spoiler: The few issues I had were mostly about Wanda being driven to a point of madness. I noted her fingers had a black tips, I would've loved to see her becoming more corrupt from the Dark hold as a consequence of her expending so much power so we would get more of a tortured hero/anti-hero journey. The Dark Hold itself would've been cool if they had added some sort of whispers/ hallucinations to show how it is slowly corrupting it's user. When Wanda possesses the alternate Wanda it would have been interesting to have a quick discussion between the two in their heads because it was rather surprising that after possessing her, getting what she wants she leaves, and alt.Wanda just goes...home? Like she has powers also?!?! and she is like ''Where am I? Whatever, I am going home.'' and just leaves. Setting up and killing all the illuminati was amusing but how they handled Wanda was darkly funny. They can deal with Magic users, they have magical handcuffs that negate magic and are like lets just talk and fight her physically while we leave our magic user comrade alone with Strange, not like a fellow magic user would be invaluable against a...er, magic user LOL ;P
I hope this multiverse saga brings back Jennifer Garner's Elektra so Mike can finally realize his dream of seeing Jennifer Garner and Doctor Strange together.
I really enjoyed this as a low stakes, much more violent take on a Marvel film with some really fun sequences. The first section was really underwhelming, but see Raimi going full Evil Dead at the end was a really fun Twist! Also I feel like originally, the Villain was going to be Wanda from another Dimension who'd never gotten a chance at redemption, but maybe that plot got chopped for time?

You get that Sam Rami vibe and feel but it lacks like his full creative vision over the project (mostly in relation to the plot and events). The visuals are fantastic, especially with the camera work and presentation of weird magic stuff. Just wished they added 10-20 minutes, it could add to the pacing and character development

It was a pleasant suprise just how Sam Raimi this movie was. I was worried none of his talent would shine through the MCU machine but there's so much Evil Dead here. That zombie Strange climax in particular.

Wanda wiping out the Illuminati and the Temple were the two biggest kick ass action scenes that made Zombie Strange final battle feel anticlimactic. Felt like WandaVision: The Movie Introducing America Chavez and... also staring dr strange.
And that is what Disney/Marvel have been doing for years now with their male characters. Tear down the male character making him dumb and/or evil and building up a female character. Kevin Feige said a few years ago going forward they would focus only on female characters. Just wait for Thor Love and Thunder to do the same thing to Thor.

I'm amused by Mike's comments about how we should have seen more of Wanda becoming evil - seemed to me that while Wanda at the end of WandaVision vaguely gestured in the direction of cleaning up her mess, she was clearly a villain throughout the entire show all the way to the end, and was clearly in _deep_ denial about the actual extent of the damage she did to all those people (and frankly the show was kind of weirdly supporting her in that). Wanda in this movie is exactly who I expected her to be coming off the very end of WandaVision - constantly repeating how she wants to be reasonable, how she's not a monster, while simultaneously disintegrating (or worse) anyone who stands in her way. She again ends the story by vaguely gesturing in the direction of cleaning up her new, bigger mess, but while I believe she now understands she's a monster, I'm not convinced she actually understands _how_ wrong the things she's done are. It's all pretty consistent.

I became a EEAAO missionary after watching it. Better than every marvel movie combined
The fun creative aspects from Raimi carried the movie a ton. Elizabeth also did a fantastic job with her slasher villain character. She stole the show for me. What the most grating aspect of the movie was marvels input. All the non stop exposition that was required, just so they fit into the larger puzzle.
Yeah anytime Raimi was just getting to do his thing and do wacky horror bullshit the enjoyment of the movie would spike significantly. And she definitely seemed to have fun playing those horror scenes.
Shame they ruined her character who is supposed to be an Avenger.
My favourite part of the movie is when michael morbius showed up and said "it's Morbius time."
I liked the part when he turned to face the camera and said "Please watch the new hit film Morbius in theatres now," before masturbating into the camera for twelve minutes.

@@melonhead2477 that was the best part. they actually tried to explore a theme in the effects instead of just throwing a "music notes" skin on their standard magic missile spell. the reactive music was very fitting and the conclusion of the sequence actually followed very loose principles of acoustics. to me it was honestly the best scene in the movie.
If they continue with the whole "Multiverse" thing, we need Bruce Campbell as an alternate Dr Strange.

The Strange vs Strange musical fight was the highlight of the movie for me. He basically did a class change from a mage to a bard. Am surprised no one mentioned the score during that fight, it was pretty creative with moments of silence and orchestral crescendos.
And then he became a Lich!

My take away was that Jennifer Garner couldn't be with Dr Strange, because he had control issues(he's always got to be the "one holding the knife"). And the movie was him being confronted by his infinite selves all of whom were control freaks and bringing ruin to every reality. This Strange finally learns to trust and support others by the end of the movie. How effective the movie was at building the story? I'm not sure, but that's my take on it.

Despite having seen this movie only a few months ago, I've forgotten 80% of it. Although I haven't seen the original Doctor Strange for a few years, I still remember 80% of it. The Marvel movies are simply an assembly line of cookie cutter product now and have been for years.
Calling No Way Home the worlds longest Super Bowl commercial is the most accurate statement of the movie ever.

The script was weak but Raimi’s style and Olsen’s performance really did a lot of heavy lifting in this movie.
Exactly my take. An otherwise meh MCU entry completely elevated by Raimi.

I did enjoy this movie. Seeing Sam Rami's little filmaking tricks warmed my heart. It wasn't amazing, but I was entertained and the story works without getting too convoluted.

I love how they continually stamp mike with the wrong stamp everytime he says something inaccurate just to pacify and no doubt avert the deluge of nerds who would repeatedly correct them if they didnt, my sides hurt from laughing so hard at the slow transition stamp on mike freeze framed with the sentimental music, comedy gold.

The music note battle was an interesting idea, but probably executed too on the nose. A musician and a concept artist I think could hash out some really interesting ideas if they thought about the sound and shape of the notes more.
My working theory is that the exchange of notes, and the duel in general, was inspired by the campiness from the wizard duel from The Raven, which is an old Vincent Price movie, which is the person after whom Dr. Strange's appearance was inspired in the comics. I think a lot of the campier elements from this whole movie were a Vincent Price tribute.

The fact the score barely reflects was real wasted potential. Personally, they didn't commit to the camp enough. They should've been launching full symphonies at each other and have their interpretations of the notes merging to make something really chaotic and interesting

I find it an interesting coincidence that Sam Raimi is directing the new Strange movie and the end of No way Home plays out as a better battle on a construction site than Spider man 3. I liked this movie I hope Sam Raimi gets to do more.

The few issues I had were mostly about Wanda being driven to a point of madness. I noted her fingers had a black tips, I would've loved to see her becoming more corrupt from the Dark hold as a consequence of her expending so much power so we would get more of a tortured hero/anti-hero journey. The Dark Hold itself would've been cool if they had added some sort of whispers/ hallucinations to show how it is slowly corrupting it's user. When Wanda possesses the alternate Wanda it would have been interesting to have a quick discussion between the two in their heads because it was rather surprising that after possessing her, getting what she wants she leaves, and alt.Wanda just goes...home? Like she has powers also?!?! and she is like ''Where am I? Whatever, I am going home.'' and just leaves.
Setting up and killing all the illuminati was amusing but how they handled Wanda was darkly funny. They can deal with Magic users, they have magical handcuffs that negate magic and are like lets just talk and fight her physically while we leave our magic user comrade alone with Strange, not like a fellow magic user would be invaluable against a...er, magic user LOL ;P
The NWH fight was ass compared to Spider-Man 3 not remotely better

I really enjoyed this as a low stakes, much more violent take on a Marvel film with some really fun sequences. The first section was really underwhelming, but see Raimi going full Evil Dead at the end was a really fun Twist! Also I feel like originally, the Villain was going to be Wanda from another Dimension who'd never gotten a chance at redemption, but maybe that plot got chopped for time?

@@fenrirlives2226 While I enjoyed the movie. I do feel like the point of this film was just set up the multiverse/incursions/Avengers Secret Wars film. You get that Sam Rami vibe and feel but it lacks like his full creative vision over the project (mostly in relation to the plot and events). The visuals are fantastic, especially with the camera work and presentation of weird magic stuff.
Just wished they added 10-20 minutes, it could add to the pacing and character development
She never got redeemed anyway. She enslaved and entire town to the point that they wished they were dead and then got off Scott free. She's more villainous than Thanos 🤣

Wanda wiping out the Illuminati and the Temple were the two biggest kick ass action scenes that made Zombie Strange final battle feel anticlimactic.

And that is what Disney/Marvel have been doing for years now with their male characters. Tear down the male character making him dumb and/or evil and building up a female character. Kevin Feige said a few years ago going forward they would focus only on female characters. Just wait for Thor Love and Thunder to do the same thing to Thor.

I'm amused by Mike's comments about how we should have seen more of Wanda becoming evil - seemed to me that while Wanda at the end of WandaVision vaguely gestured in the direction of cleaning up her mess, she was clearly a villain throughout the entire show all the way to the end, and was clearly in _deep_ denial about the actual extent of the damage she did to all those people (and frankly the show was kind of weirdly supporting her in that).
Wanda in this movie is exactly who I expected her to be coming off the very end of WandaVision - constantly repeating how she wants to be reasonable, how she's not a monster, while simultaneously disintegrating (or worse) anyone who stands in her way. She again ends the story by vaguely gesturing in the direction of cleaning up her new, bigger mess, but while I believe she now understands she's a monster, I'm not convinced she actually understands _how_ wrong the things she's done are. It's all pretty consistent.
