Thanks for posting this video! As a new user of the session horns plugin, this was a huge help! The video filled in a major blank for me which was how to apply multiple "actions" (falls, doits, etc) to a single horn line. I was stuck on the fact that I could choose only one action in the session horns window. But you came up with the perfect solution. Split the horn part out into separate tracks, then apply a different action to each! Again, thanks for posting this, man.

I have NI session horns, this is a good idea, I do this quite often. Of all the MIDI VSTs out there horns are the hardest to replicate well. I also use a few other horn plugins, some built into my DAW.. then I send them all to a group buss channel, put some light compression on them, add some air around 5-8k, and dip some low/mids out.. it helps to detune some of the horns also.. Duke Ellington was famous for having the rear horn section play a semi-tone out (very very lightly) to give a chorus effect.. of course, it would be easier to have a nice horn section in the studio, boom! done.. :D great video!

How great! I want to record midi trumpet for a song and was wondering how to do articulations. I watched a video where it was suggested to set up different tracks for them. After that I was wandering if I must record each part separately or just one track and then split notes. I see that this way is very convenient. And I have Session Horns since three days, I will experiment! I have Cuba for Kontakt, too, with a trumpet there. Now with your approach I am very tempted to put more winds in the song.

You have great programming skills with Session Horns. However, don't forget that the original track contains live brass sections (specifically starting at 3 minutes into 'Free For All'). When you layer live brass with any VST instrument, it can make even the most synthetic sounds sound somewhat realistic.
I believe the biggest reason the brass in this video sounds so authentic is not just due to Session Horns' quality but also because there's a live brass section in the track playing alongside.

Hello, Sir! First of all, sorry me for my bad English.I am a self-taught at all in this life and many things I still learn about foreign languages. Sir, I own the Session Horns plugin and work with the Cubase 5 software. I play some string instruments. But I do not know how to play keyboard. I never learned.Because I do not know how to play keyboard, when I compose MIDI, I use a program called Notewhorthy composer.I think this prevents me from using the MIDI controls well and I can not make my Brass Section very realistic. Do you have any tips on how I can improve this? Right now, thank you very much for your attention. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro.
