      R1m if you do a ton of street riding and a bit of track here and there. The suspension is awesome. If you do track only I’d get a base and upgrade the suspension to manual ohlins; and you can dial it down to your style and weight. Aside from the forks and body work the bike is completely identical.

    This is actually one of the only positive reviews I have watched over the R1 platform. I’ve heard the brakes and the power output is severely underpowered compared to ducati, aprilia, bmw, etc (top tier liter bikes).

    • @ape_rider
      @ape_rider  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It’s whoever has the biggest purse unfortunately… Yamaha like Honda and Suzuki don’t put a ton of money into their marketing. They prove it to you as a valued consumer. Ducati is the top tier premium brand and they’ve literally hit it out of the park; but championships don’t lie. Take a look at WSBK; the bikes dominating are the R1, V4R, Zx10RR.
      If you’re looking at price to performance; the R1 is unbeatable. Yes there’s the s1k; but take it from me as I’ve owned the new 2022 S1000RR; engine cut out twice on two separate and random occasions and water pump failed not even 3 weeks of ownership.
      Thanks for watching; hope that is clear - goal is to shed some light on all of the bikes I’ve owned and or ridden previously and current.

    Loved the review! I saw you mentioned you had a 22 BMW S1K-if you were to ignore the problems that you had with yours-out of the two, the R1M and the 22 S1k, which would you pick? I've been starstruck with the R1/R1M and have been debating on trading the 22 S1K for the R1/R1M. I'm super sad that the R1/R1M doesn't come with cruise control as that's a big thing for me. Thanks!

      The BMW was just too easy and soul less for me. It is blazing fast and the fastest bike I’ve owned acceleration wise. The BMW is a near perfect bike but the riding position, the insane vibrations around the handle bars and triple tree and the cheap plastics were a let down. If you’re big into cruise control the ZX10 has them as well. But for me; the r1 is THE bike.

I know it's all up to the person and their height, weight, and size but wanted to see how you felt on it. R1 reliability cannot be beat. RSV4 is a rare bike but not a whole lot of mechanics out there for the valves… They’re neck and neck but I would go with the r1/r1m over the rsv4. Power wise; the r1 was nasty. I did have a 1100 Factory 2020; but the r1m was so scary to ride because of how aggressive the throttle response was. If you don’t know how to or cannot find a reliable place to do it; then I would definitely pick the r1, or even Ducati V4s if you have the extra cash laying around. "Supersports are uncomfortable/painful".... this comes from people who are out of shape and don't proper body positioning and keeping loose on the bars so they feel extra pressure on wrists and also not keeping the core solid and feeling cramped in the legs. Now, granted these bikes are not designed for comfort but they're far from "painful" like out of shape noobs make out.

      @@ape_rider I am originally from FL and raced dirt bikes as a teen-- live in CA now and have a hypernaked and a GSXR600 mainly for track but I take out the 600 for some twisty rides sometimes too and it's not bad at all for a few hours of twisty shredding-- obviously the naked is preferable for an all day ride but you just have to know how to position on the supersport it's that simple.
      I actually like the 600 for track cuz can just push it to it's max where as you're noting that modern R1 is just an insane fire breathing dragon and so much effort goes into controlling it.
      I do know Lake county has some farmland roads with some cool sweepers but that'd be your average California road lol -- I'm planning on moving back to FLA at some point so I figured I'm just going to be doing a lot of track days cuz of the lack of curves but there's probably more curvy for group rides than I realize.

      @@joshyjorge07 If you’re comparing price range the Yamaha bests the Ducati by a long shot. MSRP for 2023 Panigale V4s is $30,695… R1M is $27K… Desmo/Valve check for the Panigale will run you $1300-1500 USD every 15K miles… Valves for the R1 are closer to 40K mile interval… Just depends on what you’re after tbh. It it’s strictly track riding; yes the Panigale had slightly better electronics and more goodies ie brembo braking system and ohlins electronic steering dampener… But keep in mind the $3K+ price difference between the two. For your average street rider; the Yamaha is the way to go. But if you’re looking for that flare; and Italian racing heritage then Ducati without a doubt. This isn’t a pissing contest tbh; all bikes have their own unique properties - strengths and weaknesses. If your comparing the price of the R1M to a ZX10R; then obviously the M is more expensive. A comparable bike would be the base model R1. Idk what you mean by do “bad things to the r1”… If you’re talking straight line monkey racing then sure. The ZX10 is quick. That’s the million dollar question right now. The V4s is now MSRP at $31,595 which is $4K over my 2021 model and the r1m is $5K less than the new 2023 V4s. Tough. You won’t go wrong with either one just depends what you like more. Personally the Panigale V4s is a monster and it is extremely stable especially on top end. It is also outputting more power, electronics are refined and are top of the line. But at the sacrifice of price. It just depends honestly on your budget.
      I would pick the Panigale V4s at the end of the day. To me it’s more aesthetically pleasing; more exclusive in my opinion because not a whole lot of people will be willing to go that far in terms of financials to purchase a bike like this. You are getting a lot more goodies but like I said; in exchange for a more premium price.
