    I’ve been using the Sony-Hx300 camera for the last 3 weeks mostly on manual mode and it works great, it actually allows you to start using some professional camera settings, low light performance it’s not the best but with the correct settings you can definitely have great quality pictures. Great option to use it as a travel camera

  • @EagerSnake
    @EagerSnake 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    In this particular case, I bought for example the HX200V for travels and stuff like that. If you are an enthusiast photographer you will be very pleased with the camera, giving you options and tools to take the pictures you want. The low light shots aver great, the 10fps option is great also for speedy conditions and you have also the antiblur scene, wich I suppose is in the HX300 too. Oh, and the video quality of the camera is AMAZING. AVCHD 1080p 60p to be precise.

    Hi! Good review! one question,,, is it good in poor-light conditions? like sunset, or shots at night (city landscapes). thanks!!

    • @JohnSisonPhotography
      @JohnSisonPhotography  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Laura B. tabari For sunsets it stills performs damn good but at night scenes it may struggle a bit but the good is that you can use multi frame noise reduction where the camera will take 2-6 photos and stitch them together to get a noise free image (best to use on stationary subjects).

    This video helped me a lot about buying a super-zoom camera.... Out of the 3 super-zoom cameras they have in store today the Sony HX300 impresses me more with the amount of zoom and megapixels.

    I have had my Sony DSC-HX300 for almost a year now and I absolutely love it. My only problem is that I still need to learn a lot about it and I don't know what else to do. It has been one of the best purchases I have ever made and I highly recommend it to others. If there is any way that you could maybe help me learn a little more about the camera that would be a big help. But overall I love it!!!!!

    It is now an older model, but yet I bought another one yesterday from an individual. It was not used much at all.
    I gave my last one to a good friend as a thank you for some help on a project. I also have an HX400v so I didn't really miss it.
    I bought the one today because I know that my HX400v is not going to last forever and if it breaks I want a backup in hand.
    I also have a Lumix FZ80 which has higher specifications like 4k, touchscreen, 60x zoom, etc. But the Sony just works better.
    It's like Toyota vs. Nissan. Or Toyota vs. Infinity even. Toyota wins all day every day.

    It depends what you want most out of your camera. If you prefer having a longer zoom, the HX300 would be the better choice. If you value image quality and low light performance, the a58 would be the way to go.

    WIFI allows you to use an internet connection to transfer images, GPS allows you to tag your photos on a map of where you've been, RAW capture is digital negative that allows you to edit your photos in post without much loss in quality. DSLR stands for Digital Single Lens Reflex. Take out the Digital part and its that SLR acronym. The HX300 is still a cyber shot but just a different type. Its a superzoom camera. You might want to check out the WX300 since its slim or even the TX30.

    My h300 does not look like this..

    • @JohnSisonPhotography
      @JohnSisonPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your model is slightly different. The H300 is the entry level model to the HX300 which is the higher end version.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason is because the a57 has a larger sensor than the HX300 despite having more megapixels. Megapixels mainly count if you're printing large photos but sensor size plays a large part in image quality.

    I just got this camera a couple weeks ago. It's my first real camera and I would love to see a tutorial on it. Would really help me out getting the most out of this camera. Great Review!!

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    There are two on the market which are highly rated and that is the HX300 and the SX50. I haven't used the SX50 extensively so I would probably suggest trying them both out at a camera store.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I try not to make the videos too long and didn't find the need to include it but thanks for the feedback.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I was on a budget, I would probably go for the HX200 but if you really need the 50x optical zoom and a slight increase in megapixels then the HX300 is worth saving just that bit more for.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would suggest the HX50 as well if you don't mind not having a 30x optical zoom vs a 50x optical zoom on the HX300.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can get good footage and photos with the HX300 as well. Just have to shoot in good lighting conditions and once you know its limitations, it'll be easy to work around them.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can add a lens adaptor and perhaps a lens hood but Sony don't make an accessory like that. You can probably make find some third party accessories for the camera though.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you purchase this from the US which looks like you are, the max is 60p which is good for slow motion. In Australia its $100 more.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Despite the increase in megapixels, I found the HX300 to be just as good in lowlight, if not slightly better.

  • @badgamerkat

    I ordered this camera last week and just saw your video today. It's even nicer than I imagined; I can't wait until it arrives :-). I'm hoping to get some nice shots of the birds and critters I see on my walks and bike rides.

    • @JohnSisonPhotography
      @JohnSisonPhotography  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hope you enjoy it! It's got a good amount of zoom for those purposes!

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The NX1000 and the HX300 are two very different cameras as the NX1000 is an interchangeable lens camera with a larger sensor. Its supposed to give you better image and video quality than the HX300. However, they're sensors aren't that good at the moment compared to other manufacturers. A lot of the footage that you've seen depends on how the person uses their camera too! The HX300 can go up to 1200mm and with the lens you suggested with the NX1000, can go to 50-200mm. So very different there.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unfortunately there is no accessory terminal like the NEX-5N on the HX50V and I doubt there would be one on the NEX-7N. The FDA-EV1MK is the viewfinder that can be used on the HX50 which is the same one as the RX1. As for the mic you're going to have to get a new one too.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd definitely recommend this for entry or amateur photographers or even the a37 or a58.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You just need to press the viewfinder/lcd button on the top of the camera, just below the power button.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you want good very good low light performance and image quality, I'd say go for the a57 and get a zoom lens to go with it. Perhaps the 18-250mm lens, although it will be large kit you'll have.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well the a65 will definitely give you better image quality, however, you won't get that sort of zoom that is on the HX300. I'd trade image quality over zoom any day but its up to you which you prefer more.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography

    That's a tough cause I haven't used all of those cameras. I suggest trying them all out at a camera store and decide which one to get.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography

    I suggest you try both of them in a camera store because I haven't used the SX50.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I haven't tried the P520. Probably best to try them both out in a store.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Depends on what you want more. HX300 for a long zoom and a57 for better image quality.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I haven't used the Fujifilm so I can't give you a proper opinion on that camera. I suggest trying them both out at a store.

  • @JimNicholls
    @JimNicholls 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good review, and your commentary was very clear and understandable. When showing video quality, I think the camera should be steady, preferably on a tripod, not moved around. Only very amateur videographers wave their cameras around, and it makes it impossible to appreciate the true capabilities of the camera.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography
    @JohnSisonPhotography  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I haven't tried the SX50 so I can't give you a proper comment on them. I suggest you try them both out at a camera store.

    And the 10fps and 2fps impresses me more since none of the other super-zoom cameras have that except for DSLR's. So this is a camera of my need at a good enough price.

    I wanna get one for my channel . When you record yourself , is it focusing you , and what you have behind not? Because I'm looking for a camera like that , and not expensive and I found this one . Does it focus good? I need focus a lot for my videos . I have a Nikon CoolpixL320 ( 26x Zoom ) and it doesn't focus that good , and the quality ( hope I wrote fine ) is worse without zoom than this camera with 50x zoom on . I hope you can respond me .

    Yes, i am pretty sure. From iso400 and higher the jpegs from canon are much cleaner, especially on the flat areas with no detail. Take a look yourself at the studio shot comparison tool at dpreview.

    That's the point, the features that Sony is implementing in their cameras are awesome. For this kind of semi-professional cameras I don't have ANY doubt that Sony is winning by far, but people always seems to go for the sure thing, like Canon or Nikon. It sounds reasonable, but don't hesitate. It's not a Alpha DSLT, but it's works incredible well. The grip is AMAZING compared to both N and C, it weights nothing. And it's really EASY to use. You'll need 2 days to get used to the camera's menus.

  • @JohnSisonPhotography

    It has a built in flash but there is no option to use an external flash.

    I am not an expert but finally someone who is mentioning the zoom, allways wondering why you see the 0 zoom in lens smaller then you see in real life.I suppose that is what you mean with full wide angle. Though the zoom is impressive its likely misleading to be 50.

    Hey John,
    Can you do a review on how to change shutter speed, color change, iso, and such like that? Thanks I am thinking about getting this camera and would like to know how to use it.

  • @Chazzza
    @Chazzza 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well... It does 1080p at 50fps (PAL) or 60fps (NTSC) so you could conform the footage to half the speed, but that isn't real slow motion I suppose. Twixtor works well to make 60fps footage 2400fps+ footage via software though.

    Hi! Which camera you recommend? This (HX300) or it's predecessor, the HX200? The price difference btw these 2 models is ~30% in advantage of the HX200. Does this new model worth it's (extra) money? (I have an old Sony - DSC-H9, and i was very pleased of it, this would be an upgrade, which one you recommend?). Thanks, Ati.

    Thanks for the reply! :) I am very indecisive and it is a very difficult decision, some of the reviews have said that the HX300 is very good but a bit slow to focus and process etc but it is a too bit new to have that many reviews, i know if i go for the canon i will be safe as i know and like the camera but there extras on the sony are very attractive .....

    Is it possible to monitor the live camera output via HDMI? (I don't mean just viewing pictures or videos that have already been recorded).

    This is awesome! I am gonna buy one of these cameras today. I think the tilting lcd screen is good and looks professional.

      It's not a bad camera for the price. If you want wifi with it you could even go with the HX400.

    I have it for a long period and i think the only weakness is you can't change ISO and shutter speed in video mode :(

    The Canon Powershot SX50 can do 13fps with articulating screen. So there is a bridge camera;)

    Thanx John. Very good review! I am an amateur & have a lot to learn before going DSLR. But my family and friends rave over the pictures I capture with this camera. I think it's pretty much luck, even though I do try to get the best shot that I can. 😉 I shoot mostly landscape, & the Moon & Stars are good friends of mine. Also sunrise & set. So the mega zoom is awesome. I used Best Buy, & Wal-Mart's 15 day no questions asked refund policy, & went through 4 cameras before settling on the Sony. HX300. The lense makes the Sony an easy hands down choice.

    Excellent and Crisp review. Can you suggest me which camera is the best in the market with 50 X zoom?
