Yes ...that is the only thing that he got wrong. My CANON SX50hs has a separate charger that plugs into the wall. Otherwise this guy has a great persona in front of thecamera. great job.
Two things: I know that the Canon will shoot in RAW and the Nikon will not, if you like to use software for adjusting your image. Also this review says the batteries are only chargeable within the camera itself. You can inexpensively purchase extra batteries and an external charger for the Canon from E-Bay or other outlets that will allow you to charge one while using another.
Please make a direct comparison between the new models Canon SX50HS, Nikon P600 & Sony DSC HX400V. I am really confused to choose between these cameras.
Great review, but I guess some facts need to be corrected: the Canon SX50 has an external battery charger, the battery cannot be charged by the camera.
FYI friend the Canon SX50 HSdoes not have to be charged 'in-camera'. I have had one for over a year now and I still get blown away using it! Bravo Canon!
Hello I have the canon sx50hs it does not need to be charged in camera and has a separate charger, which is better for image quality pot wise with the megapixel difference thank you
And the facts say, Canon SX50 HS takes the best photos. I have been a amuture photographer for the past 15 years. I only ever use two cameras, both Canon and one been the SX50.
I did lots more research and ordered the Sony HX400 for $419 from 42nd St. Photo this week. Mine won't have GPS, but I don't need it. The Sony's Wi-Fi might be useful. I needed a microphone input that most superzooms lack. The Sony has a hotshoe that accepts their adjustable stereo mics (and has a mic out ability to send the signal to a mixer, etc. for processing.) The Sony seems to focus faster than the others, and the ability to manually focus is a plus.
Oh and I also need 1080p video w/ decent autofocus and image stabilization. Since I've already ordered the HX300 I need to give it a try, but if you have any suggestions of something that'd meet my criteria and provide better image quality than the SX50, I'm willing to give it a try.
Hi sorry for my English. Do you know.why on the hx300 the videos highest quality stop after 30 seconds even if i have an empty memory card 8g? On the screen you can read 21 minute of recording free but when i record it lasts only 30 seconds. Do you know why? On the other video qualities the videos last a bit more but always they don't correspond To the time put on the screen. Ciao
The Hx300 is not an interchangeable lens camera and though you can find filters that do fit, and could get an adapter, it is not easily compatible with most filters. We suggest you take it into a store to see what works! We linked to a video of the HX300 being used with adapter rings in the info of our video as well.
Nice review, you convinced me not to buy the Nikon, but definitely didn't convinced me that the Sony is better than the Canon. A few points to be noticed when comparing the Canon against the Sony: The Canon is lighter and smaller; It supports RAW file format; It has a flash shoe for an external flash; Actually, despite what you said, it does have a charger so you don't need to charge the batteries inside the camera; It has a supersonic zoom speed, that is why you noticed it's zoom as the fastest; It's display can do a FULL flip-out and is easier to see in outdoor conditions; It shoots faster (13 fps against 10 fps from Sony); It can record in slow motion (even 240 fps but not so good resolution). But I recognize that the Sony has 12800 ISO against only 6400 from the Canon. I'm not saying Canon is better, I'm only saying it has a lot of advantages over the Sony, so I don't understand how you came to the conclusion that the Sony is better in overall. I would like to understand why you said that because I'm doing a research and still don't know if I'll buy the Canon SX50 or the Sony HX300. I want a good camera to take pictures AND full hd videos.
did u make ur choice? i, too, am torn between the canon and sony. i see many reviews saying the canon is better, but doesnt the low megapixel effects it in any way?
@Aisse Gaertner, what kind of filters do you use on your hx300 and what are the other after market products do you use? i have the hx300and i have seen your pictures on flickr way before this comment when i searced the model number on website. amazing shots you got there. what size filters do you use?
Good point however 600mm equivalent is more than enough for most cases. This is also longer than most dedicated tele-lenses. Be aware that with tiny sensors and small apertures you will los a lot of resolution by diffraction
you are right graham , the self timer is in a stupid place . the 240 fps is not worth using as the quality is not great , but i have used the 120 fps and its fine for general use. Not sure any camera in this price bracket will have full hd at 240 fps , is there such a camera at £ 280 quid ?
one singular reason why the hx300 falls behind the sx50hs is the use of 20 mp. the more pixels you put, the more noise it creates. there is an optimum limit of megapixels for a particular sized sensor, where it peaks it's performance. beyond it pic quality deteriorates. 20 mp is just a marketing gimmick & may help sometimes when creating very huge posters; but why would u use this camera for creating for that purpose????
so yeah i need a quick respond i dont know what camera to buy the sony or the canon i love to make photos of nature and also of the moon, wich one is the sharpest when fully zoomed in and which one is the most stabilized
+TOXICO KILLER Hi there, thanks for your question. For what you're doing I would pick the Sony HX300; it has higher resolution and it has longer exposure, which will help with night photography.
Thank you very much!!! I was searching for a review of these three cameras for quite some time now. That video helped me to take a better view of the capabilities of these cameras. Thank you again. :)
I'd like to wait on the SX60 / HX400 (or whatever it ends up being) / any other next-gen competitors to be released, but I have to have whatever I get by the end of this month :\ I've looked around but haven't found much - is there a concrete release date yet, or even an official features/specs list, out for the SX60HS? If it's unveiled on Aug. 21, I'm guessing it won't be released in time for my trip anyway. I had a DLSR (Canon EOS T4i) but I don't want to lug it around all day at DragonCon.
Sony HX300 is best camera. I have already Sony DSLR, Really good picture quality. 20 MP and Focusing at zero milimeter ist good feature. Electronic view finder quality is ok not like DSLR A67. No Raw picture format.
I got the HX300 last Friday. The lack of instructions supplied is annoying. Everything I am learning bit by bit. But for the life of me, I can not find half of the Picture Effects, Miniature mode and all the HDR effects are not on my menu. All I can see is Part red, green, blue and yellow filters, Pop, Toy and SftH key in the Picture Effects menu. Nothing to access any other special effects that other people say are on the camera. This camera needs a proper manual. Anyone help?
Thank's for the superb review, I have a Nikon P100 that's been great. I stopped into a Best Buy to play around with these three cameras and was surprised at how flimsy and toy like the Nikon P520 is. The P100 had much better build quality and it's 4 years older Your assessment of the Sony is spot on. I think one of those clear protectors might help reduce fingerprints. I'm stuck between the Sony HX300 and the Panny FV200. Thanks again for the great review.
I have owned the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX300/BC 20.4 MP Digital Camera with 50x Optical Zoom and 3-Inch Xtra Fine LCD (Black) for 3 years and I have won NUMEROUS Awards with it for my photography it is an Outstanding portrait camera , Mine dose have to be plugged into wall charger or computer to recharge but other then that ,I have no complaints except I need a new one and am scared to death others wont live up to my Sony, Yes I use other cameras I have Nikon 5200, Nikon 3100, Canon Rebel 5, and Canon ESO 80 D, I do fine art photography, portraits, Weddings and would not trade my Sony for anything, How can I have it refurbished .
The weather issue won't be a huge factor - most of my pics will be taken indoors and in a fairly well-lit area (convention halls). I don't *need* a huge zoom like 50x, but I'd need something at least around 20x, and I need a screen that at least pivots (though flip-out would be preferred) Price is the biggest factor, really - I basically need the best cam I can get, with a spare battery, for $400US. If there's a small Point & Shoot (non-Super Zoom) that'd fit that and be better, I'd go for that.
I have the sx50,great camera, you were wrong about all cameras batteries charge in camera, the sx50 has a charger and can be charged just by taking the battery out and putting it in the charger.

All comes down to image quality Andrew You can include all the bells and whistles you want..Gps Wifi..you name it but in the end the Canon's image quality blows the other two out of the water
First I was confused which to buy nikon, canon or sony. But the nikon was out from the race when you told that the auto focus is slow and the lense vibrating is not a good sign. I choosed canon and i am fully satisfied.

You are right! We apologize for the misinformation. The SX50 has a charger dock, which is a great feature!
the XS50 can be charged outside the cam in its outlet charger
Great share on this thanks
You can get the Sony camera with lens kit on sale now on digiht.com/SonyHX300camera for anyone looking for it

i like to know whether hx300 support all types of 55mm filters (eg:vivitar, hoya etc - nd,uv,cpl) without any adapters?? please reply asap

Nikon P520!

I have the Nikon P520. Its a good camera but i was having problems when focusing on distant object. The visuals are great.
Hi may I get some help. Which one of them the best to buy it. I am looking for one good for pictures and Video
Sony Camera is the best HX300 is a beast! making beautiful pictures very good quality and looks beautiful. I got one :D
The Canon SX50 is the best.
Yup even I got1 it's d best
In your opinion, maybe. I'll stick with facts. ☺
And the facts say, Canon SX50 HS takes the best photos. I have been a amuture photographer for the past 15 years. I only ever use two cameras, both Canon and one been the SX50.
Brief but good comparison work here. Thanks! Helped more than most vids on YT to make my decision on a superzoom.

i would love to see you do the same with the new HX400v and P600
which one is the best for taking action shots?
It's weird, he talked everything better with Canon, and the end the best is Sony?

Nice review, you convinced me not to buy the Nikon, but definitely didn't convinced me that the Sony is better than the Canon.
A few points to be noticed when comparing the Canon against the Sony:
The Canon is lighter and smaller;

Yaya Mahazir So did you buy Canon sx50? I am thinking to buy Canon sx50 but low megapixel may change my decision
I'm also confused between the duo... Sx 50 hs or hx400v
Ankit Jha i bought sony hx400v 2 days ago.. looks good.. exploring it more.
which camera's image quality is better?
which one has better picture quality when uploaded to the computer
I know this is almost a year old, but could you do a follow up with the Panasonic and Fujifilm offerings in the price range?
I think Canon SX50 better because of external flash.
@Aisse Gaertner, what kind of filters do you use on your hx300 and what are the other after market products do you use? i have the hx300and i have seen your pictures on flickr way before this comment when i searced the model number on website. amazing shots you got there. what size filters do you use?

Wow. I was still having trouble deciding which camera to get, but those shots make me pull the trigger on the HX300! They look great!
amigo que camara usas en las fotos de tu pagina web?

Your photos are superb! You have confirmed me in my decision to order this camera!
Canon also has slow mo video and it does come with charger. Don't have to charger internally.
Hi Andrew, You have done great job comparing these camera. Though I have a question Dose canon Sx 50 shoot raw pic
yes
you should also have used fz200, hear a lot good about that
Okay, good to know! So far, I haven't seen it, but it should be good whenever it comes out.
Great review! Thank you very much!
An effective review. My favorite is the Canon.
Thank's for the superb review, I have a Nikon P100 that's been great. I stopped into a Best Buy to play around with these three cameras and was surprised at how flimsy and toy like the Nikon P520 is. The P100 had much better build quality and it's 4 years older

I LOVE the Canon sx50!!
could you a comparison with panasonic lumix dmc-fz200 vs tz 60 and vs canon powershot sx50 hs
I have the sx50,great camera, you were wrong about all cameras batteries charge in camera, the sx50 has a charger and can be charged just by taking the battery out and putting it in the charger.
Very interesting and well presented review.
Super camera demonstration VS test production! Great video creation congratulations too! Good day!
👍🍀🇭🇺🌞☝️
I own the SX50 its a great camera, also to correct, the SX50 can charge out of the camera with the provided charging dock. great tube though.
Great job! I thought you were fair and balanced on all three cameras.
Nikon Coolpix P520 video tutorial needed
ok just a correction for you re the canon sx50 , you say only the nikon has slow mo .
in fact the canon has TWO slow motion video modes.
120 fps and 240 fps
All pics with the Sony HX300 ??
Very beautiful pics
good review. did canon wipe those two?
i am using canon powershot sx50 now :-).. i have great experience in using it. but before i bought it i review first your video. it was useful on choosing which bridge camera will i buy. thank you
+FocusCamera TV im end up with great Canon Powershot Sx50... fantastic bridge camera!!

+Cotton Mouth We're really happy to hear that! It means to world to us that our videos can help educate people.
Good comparison but correction : Canon HS50 has a battery charger in the box (in UK) so can charge out of camera.
yes you right
beautiful shots, the HX300 was perfect for your wildlife photography!
Out of all the cameras, which one has the best auto-focus?
Sony
very useful review. thanks!
This video was really really helpful !
I have really enjoyed the video !!! ^__^ waiting for your next video!!
what about nikon coolpix p520 ? anybody have it ? please help me and share your experience
Hola amigo. Quisiera saber tu opinión. Ya que tengo la posibilidad de comprarme esta cámara, pero me entró la duda porque con un precio muy parecido al que tiene esta puedo conseguir la Nikon d3100 Reflex. Definitely, I will go for Canon!
hey man, why don't you make this kind of videos anymore ? i liked the intro and the edit. a very nice and simple review
Very helpful! Great video
Great review Andrew.. KUDOS :)
The Canon SX 50 has a separate battery charger, so the battery doesn't have to be charged "in camera". It also has much better image quality than the other two cameras reviewed.
And you heva canon :D
But SONY is better
I have both...
+jurijs jegermanis Why is it better? Back your statement or you're just a fanboy.
I thought it was rather convenient how that was not even talked about. I'd love to know why the Sony was supposedly better. I'd also love to know what features he couldn't find as Canon's have about the most logical menu systems in the industry.
Great reviews. Thanks!
i hear the canon dose not have a mic in put
Great view! thanks!
The info is appreciated, thanks so much, looks like the canon is winning my heart.
I agree, 1.Sony 2.Canon 3.Nikon for me.
try panasonic lumix FZ200. you'll be amazed..
I keep NEX-6 with 18-200 mm for prime and low light and HX300 for superzoom (I have the HX1 X1.7 lense so I realy have optical X85 or 2040 mm !).
Dan
very nice review and unbiased
I wonder y he does'nt chose Canon SX50 HS , Moreover also didnt gave any gr8 reviews for Sony Cam, which he thinks as best.
Cool i have a sx50 and it is a good pick.
why did not canon release sx60 ?!
Thank u very much
