glad I found this video, this journey of yours has produced some great results! I would love to make a similar video, unfortunately most of my old crappy games (from like 14 years ago aswell!) just disappeared when my old pc crashed ;-;
I'm super grateful that my old self thought of backing up these projects. I don't think I was able to include every single one (I remember at least one text-based game in C that I couldn't find). Running many of these from source was a non-trivial task (especially the one using LWJGL). Thank you for the comment! Just make sure you back up your projects now! I have everything on GitHub, it's good for that.
Thank you! I'm currently planning to keep doing game jams every 4 months-ish (Ludum Dare). I'm currently in gradschool so I have less time, but I'm learning things that I know I will be able to incorporate in some very cool (small) projects. Stay tuned!
Undertale didn't exist when I said that lol, but yes. Game Maker now has so many great games. None of which were on the yoyogames showcase at the time :)
C++ would be much better in my opinion, but learning Java will do no harm. You'll eventually going to be able to pickup C++ and C# which are perhaps better suited for your goals. You can make nice games in Java using LibGDX, it supports 3d but last I checked not as well as 2d
@@hexeldev so the best option is to switch to C++ ? Its not a problem at all though i first learned how to code for C++ before Java , but moved to Java because of the college , i wont have any problem going back to it though
@@ajdndbdjbdj I learned C and Java first, then C# and then later C++, Python and Rust. Just focus on learning Java for now,, once you know one learning the others is not that hard. C++ and Rust are a bit more challenging but you'll still be able to transfer a lot of Java knowledge.
whoa first video on your youtube channel what a phenomenal moment. well done
1:01Imagine making your first game, and getting a perfect rev- oh wait Cedric got it!
amazing showcase of your games! it really shows your progression and how much your skills changed over time! good work
Amazing journey! You've accomplished so much in the last 10 years - congratulations!
I'm actually kind of curious where you'll go next as it feels like you've taken on a lot of simple but really hard coding challenges over the years.
woooow, ideas are incredibly creative!
really awesome
thank you for sharing it with us,
please leave it uploaded forever cuz everyone can take good knowledge out of it
That inspires me a lot in my journey
Thanks for sharing your inspiring game dev journey!
My favorite game is Galactic Garden (I helped dev it). 2nd fav is MLG PONG
The Big Button game is hella rad, games based on interpreting text are so underrepresented

Amazing Content
Nice, I have a decade behind me too now, but I mainly stayed with gamemaker (1).
Good stuff !
Those last two actually look like amazing games I would play the hell out of
This is beautiful, thank you
Looking forward to the extra content!
awesome!
The jump in expertise really shows, especially after college. Looking forward for more! Are you gonna go create small games or a big "dream game"?

Your first game actually looks fun compared to mine 😅😅😅
“games aren’t actually made in gamemaker” *undertale would like to speak with you*

This is amazing!
nice legacy
Please make more Videos like Challenges or Tutorials!
I am currently starting my journey of game dev
I just finished making my first game using stencyl game engine btw. Imma add more to it tomorrow and its a platformet
You should make a video with the stencil engine!
@@hexeldev good idea! maybe soon
Only 50 subs??? Wtf
Im a java dev :D
Q : im learning Java in college , is it a good option if i want to make a big 3D game ?
