what I love about Eric, and Doyle for that matter, is that they don't compete for the "best lead", they just step up because they are together and want to give it all when they let it rip!
@@engell3707 someone told me Nathan East but I think maybe Willie Weekes. Never saw Nathan so casual and he usually doesn't move around so much but I could be wrong!
Doyle Bramhall II was born in Texas, and lived half of his life in Northern California. His father,Doyle Bramhall, Sr., played drums for legendary bluesmen Lightnin' Hopkins and Freddie King and was a lifelong collaborator with childhood friends Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmie Vaughan.
Doyle Sr and Jimmie Vaughan started early in Dallas Texas in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas before moving to Austin Texas in the late sixties. I was also privileged to have seen Sam Lightning Hopkins in Dallas in September 77 near the end of his journey. I believe Doyle II is one of the top players today as is former band mate Derek Trucks and he and and Charlie Sexton front a great band together called The Arc Angels that has one half of SRVs Double Trouble Chris Layton on drums. If you ever get a chance to see them do because they are red hot.
Lets get one thing straight, Doyle is a great guitarist, but he is NOT a guitar god! That is reserved for the likes Of God (Jimmy Page), Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton.
I've loved and adored Eric Clapton for as long as I can remember. When our own Texas Doyle Bramhall Jr hooked up with Slowhand himself I was thrilled! He's very unique and talented and loved him with Arc Angels. One very lucky guy is he but worthy!
Could be around 2007-08. Eric just gets better. I've been listening to him since John Mayall. He just gets better with age. Having Doyle Bramall doesn't hurt anything at all.
In 1968 Eric Clapton recorded a fabulous version of Crossroads with Cream (Wheels of Fire album). Since then he's revived the song with a lot of different groups, and all these later versions are dummied-down and lifeless, just like this one.
I really think Clapton's chips are not there to play it "right" anymore. Sad because it's really not that hard and the original version is so incredible. Check out Chelsea Constable covering it, or Eddie Van Halen doing it live.
@@mikekopmanis2099 Ok, I just listened to Chelsea Constable for the first time and she demonstrates the solo nicely in an instructional video. She even plays it on a Gibson ES 335!
.. kind of boring, only like the up-tempo life version of Creams last concert with Bruces´rolling bass and Baker and Clapton tormenting his guitar, unfortunately he never played it that way again, right or wrong, in tune or not, unfortunately he must´ve run out of some good sniffing paste ...
@@glennbutler2235 wow.. i had forgotten about that awesome comment. Its modern art. Pure genius. I m not even sure why I mentioned that I never bring a book when I have to go to the post office. EC has always been my favorite but honestly I have not heard anything by Clapton - Bramhal that caused me to think Branhal is anything but mediocre. Sorry.
Doyle & Eric just tearin it up! God Bless 🌅

As if we don't have enough of a great thing.....just listen to the fantastic drums!!!
Darrell Tiencken
You got that right about the drummer! That's Abs Laboriel, Paul McCartney's long-time drummer and one of the best alive.
@@rl529 who playing the bass ?

Splendido!! Devo dire che mi piace molto la versione con Steve Winwood che ha una voce bellissima e tagliente. Grandi!!! ❤

Arc Angels yeah! That one debut album was a chunk of gold imo.
Yes I agree. Music should never be about ego. It should only be about expression.
At least that's what I think!
Eric got sober just in time. Many his age get by on Reputation. Eric still works for it. Clean Living is the Life for Me. (trying)
Doyle played with Roger Waters band in the 2000's. He whipped up on those David Gilmour solos.
watching Doyle always freaks me out the way he plays the guitar backwards I know one guy who plays rhythm that way
The best ever ❤
