This is a brilliant performance. Bramhall pays proper homage to David Gilmour's original performances while also making it his own. Doyle's performance vocally and on guitar are terrific.
Deeply love Doyle’s vocals on this, and always love his guitar playing. He complements the band so beautifully on this song. Have never understood why people have to turn music playing into an angry competition. Each musician brings unique magic to the mix, and while we may prefer one flavor over another, it’s pointless to trash the others. We can just listen to what we like, try new flavors, and decide whether we want to add them to our lives. We don’t rant and swear and belittle others about liking vanilla when we like chocolate ice cream. We just order chocolate and move on. They invited Doyle to play with them, knowing the magic he’d bring, and I’m glad they did, because now I get to listen to this.
In my humble opinion, this is the best rendition of the song bar none.I usually enjoy the original the most. But when Doyle & Snowy do that duel, I get goosebumps.I tried on & off for a few years to play the guitar. No luck. What I wouldn't give to be able to play like either one of them. Thank you very much for posting it. I'm giving you 6 stars ****** for this one.
I learned how to play with the strings backwards when I was 15. We had an old acoustic, and I was a bass player in a garage band, and our guitarist showed me some scales, and I just started playing that way. I never thought I could be any good since it was backward. Then I discovered Doyle, Albert King, Dick Dale, and many others that played this way. I have been playing guitar this way for 39 years, and can play as good or betters than some of my peers. Nobody does it like Doyle. I have about 20 lefty guitars all strung right handed. One thing is I can bend like a MF.
Snowy is the cowboy, riding around impeccably, shiny and close to perfect. Doyle is the indian, firing off arrows, leaving spot-fires, wheels about to fall off. Without the two of them there ain't no western.
Doyle Bramhall II is AWESOME! This guy is a total Stevie Ray Vaughan protege and stands on his own. He should be HUGE so talented ~ LOVED Arc Angels ~ anyone?
Doyle Bramhall II is probably one of the most talented and innovative musicians around. His technique is unmatched and his voice is incredible. Playing left-handed upside down isn't unheard of nor "messy" as one person commented. Albert King Otis Rush Bobby Womack and Dick Dale also played this way. It's what gives him his unique sounds and can bend longer and further than anyone I've heard. he's one of my biggest influences being a guitar player myself. He can also play left handed strung for a lefty as well. trivia Susannah Melvoin (Wendy Melvoin's sister Prince's guitarist in The Revolution) was Doyle's wife at the time who lent her vocals on this tour being one of the backup singers.
an absolute masterpiece , you can tell that Doyle is absolutely loving this piece and enjoys playing it even more , its like he has become one with the guitar run , real awesome....
This is my favorite Pink Floyd song, love Doyle B.II, saw him with Arc Angels several times and recently at Jimi Hendrix Experience show. This is one of the best versions of this song live I have ever heard. Doyle is a great artist and guitarist, hope to see more of him in future.
For those of you that haven't seen Eric Clapton's Crossroads guitar festival, it is great. The one from 2007 has Doyle Bramhall II, Derec Trucks Band, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, and many more. It is an awesome show. These people are the rock and blues gods of music. Incredible talent!
BRAVO Doyle Bramhall! A little bit of SRV with his Gilmore lines and that is one hot solo! I had the pleasure of seeing this show live and both DBII and Snowy White were excellent. They did David's work proud.
Wow! Doyle's voice and tasty guitar playing are an absolute perfect match for Roger's tour! I recently got re-introduced to Doyle after seeing Arc Angels here on youtube. You all need to check out their one and only studio release from 1992. It's EXCELLENT. Peace and good music for 2014! ♫
Doyle is one of the most under rated artists! Fortunately for me I get to see him in smaller venues up close! Anyone who doesn't know Doyle... just look for "Doyle Bramhall II" on you tube... tons of videos of his original stuff and also with other artists like Clapton, Derek Trucks, Sheryl Crow, etc!
Two Awesome guitarists who are NOT just playing notes... really? Please... Feel is feel and passion is passion. David Gilmour is amazing but these 2 guitarists rock and great phrasing here too :)
Snowy White. He played a stint with Thin Lizzy back in the day as well as Peter Green, Mick Taylor, and a bunch of others. That LP is one road worn guitar. I bet the neck is like butter.
Bramhalls version of Gilmour is equally as good but just a different style, and I applaud that. Gilmour cannot play like Bramhall and vice versa. its so good to hear it in a different interpretation. Equal skill, equal emotion.
One of my favorite guitarists of all time. Had the good fortune of seeing him in Arc Angels and his recordings with Waters are amazing. Unlikely union, proves a great bass player and lead can always make it work. Also saw him recently here in Napa doing a two man show that was incredible. DBII is the real deal. There is a reason Clapton took him on tour.
Thanks for the post. Love this clip, it's wonderful. I could listen to it on repeat all day. Doyle's amazing. And not just when emulating someone else, though he's great at that.
Magnifico Doyle.
All you guys fighting about DBII's "messiness" or whatever realize he plays upside down - bass strings toward the floor - right? Downstrokes become upstrokes, etc. Yields a totally different sound. Some things are probably easier to play some more difficult -, but if you'e expecting David Gilmour - it's not going to sound like that.
Tioga Fretworks he doesn't have to play upside down... it's his own choice. He is just trying to show off. But, to be fair, he did a great job. And of course it's not Gilmour. And he doesn't have to be. As long as DBII respects and treats the guitar parts the way they should be respected and treated
It sounds like you're making excuses for him... like the way he chose to express himself with his instrument has a built in impediment. I'm guessing you didn't mean it that way but rationalizing his technique is like predicating Django's music on the fact that he only had two working fingers on his fretting hand. In the end Doyle has a style that is the culmination of a million little things that, collectively, make him the guitar player he is. I wish I listened to him more than I do because whenever I do, he acquits himself so well. "Messiness"? Would that we all were that messy! Thanks for posting.
Doyle is a god in his own right. He's one of the only guys I know that can hold his own with Stevie Ray, Clapton and here he does Gilmore proud!.... and all while playing his guitar upside down!!!!!!
This is just fantastic, I tried to see this concert in full, ( did once) but you can only see in clips. Doyle Bramhall fits in very well and Andy Fairweather Low is having a great time .
Holy christ . Tears in my eyes everytime again..these guys are the heros of our generatie. Seen waters in Holland with the wall 2012 with my Daughter . I Will never ever forget that day. Me m y two son's and Daughter we all play guitar. Most of the time Pink Floyd. But we all are huge fan of Mike oldfield. Roger waters .Dire Straits. Gary moore and on. My young son is 14 hé is the biggest Floyd fan in the world. Hé made me so proud. Hé is studiying to become a professional guitarplayer Yes I am so proud. Yes people you can shape your kids into wise good people. But you got to do it yourself. That is wat this sick world need Yes I am a proud father. I got no wealth or money or expansie house. My treassure in life are my 3 great kids . Ahum :) a proud father from Holland. With a very proud mother/wife .Whom I with for 32 years now. She was 15 I was 17 soulmate for live Oke goodbey love you people thx for video
This is possibly my favorite version of CN...I saw Rogers ITF tour when he visited Houston, TX. First, I didn't expect to hear CN...I tend to view it as more of a Dave song. (An argument can be made) Be that as it may, I was absolutely gob-smacked during the performance. So much coming through...and the highlight, as always, is the second guitar solo. The back and forth between Doyle and Snowy works magnificently.
unbelievable dual solo performance. I am a lefty, upside down player and it always just fires me up to see this. We are all much older now, but the thrill never goes away. David Gilmour is still a favorite, along with many other soloists, but Doyle is on top! Guess I'm just biased, ha, ha!
Doyle not only hits all Gilmours notes, ha adds something extra, this guy is extraordinary, how many could pick up a strat, strung upside down left handed like Jimi., and best Gilmour on the best of floyd for 30 years and multiple albums........amazing
All I know is, I have to crank my volume up to 9-10 just to be able to hear it. I don't have this issue on most TH-cam videos, but it does happen on a few others.
This is a brilliant performance. Bramhall pays proper homage to David Gilmour's original performances while also making it his own. Doyle's performance vocally and on guitar are terrific.
Doyle’s voice is golden.....😌😌😌😌😌
Deeply love Doyle’s vocals on this, and always love his guitar playing. He complements the band so beautifully on this song. Doyle Bramhall II is the most underated guitarrist in the world.....simply
arguably one of the better versions of comfortably numb.
Exactly, I tend to go back to this version because of DB and his raw unpolished approach. Standing hair ovation!
Doyle is just awesome
spectacular on every level!!!
I learned how to play with the strings backwards when I was 15. love bramhalls voice.. this video never gets old
Love that he plays the middle solo note for note. Repsect for one of the most beautiful melodies of all time
One of the best of all time.. Doyle makes it even better.
The In The Flesh Concert is fantastic, the guitar solos are amazing from two great guitarists
Doyle Bramhall II is AWESOME! This guy is a total Stevie Ray Vaughan protege and stands on his own. He should be HUGE so talented ~ LOVED Arc Angels ~ anyone?
YogaArmy he is more like jimmi hendrix and jim morrison
YogaArmy He is pretty big and so was his father.
Yes. Played their eponymous album over and over. Love it.
Robbie William
Robbie Williams
I have just learned of Mr. Bramhall......I think he is amazing. To bad we live in a time when great music is not allowed......sad.
thats because the illuminate has destroyed everything
One of the best shows I've ever seen. Wish I could have been there in person.

Love this version! Doyle and Snowy nail it! Gives me shivers every time! I love the way DBII bends the fuck out those strings!
an absolute masterpiece , you can tell that Doyle is absolutely loving this piece and enjoys playing it even more , its like he has become one with the guitar run , real awesome....
David Gilmour is my guitar hero, and I think Bramhall does a great job on this. I am becoming a fan.
and why dont you see its not david gilmore but roger waters playing
Mozart1220 I think doyle is a combination of jimi hendrix and Jim Morrison
SRV, Clapton, Pink Floyd etc. don't ask you to play with them for no good reason... Doyle Bramhall II Best Blues Guitarist of today IMO ;-)
DB2 is awesome musician and guitar player. The Fender / Gibson duel with Snowy White is fu**ing outstanding.
Phenomenal!!!! Doyle & Snowy...just perfect
This is in my humble opinion the best version I've heard from Comfortably Numb
I love what he does with this song. There doesn't need to be competition. There is room for all variations.
Snowy White, epic guitar player, he makes that Les Paul sing so sweetly!!
This is my favorite Pink Floyd song, love Doyle B.II, saw him with Arc Angels several times and recently at Jimi Hendrix Experience show. This is one of the best versions of this song live I have ever heard. Doyle is a great artist and guitarist, hope to see more of him in future.
you easily forget how good Doyle is and then you find this or something off his solo stuff and your like holy sh*t!
Doyle absolutely crushes that first solo! So good god damn!
doyle has such a great charisma. wonderful. thanx for posting
Incredible talent!
so agree . . . just really 'found' him a few months ago and cannot get enough! I'm enjoying listening to all this new music.
BRAVO Doyle Bramhall! A little bit of SRV with his Gilmore lines and that is one hot solo! I had the pleasure of seeing this show live and both DBII and Snowy White were excellent. They did David's work proud.
Doyle's channeling Hendrix's spirit here. Unreal.
I saw Doyle tonight in NYC. Roger Waters was in the crowd :-)
The lick at 6:40 is the best thing that ever happened to Comfortably Numb
That whole album is great! "Too many ways to fall", "See what tomorrow brings". I would have liked to see them put out another album.
I had no idea who Doyle Bramhall was until just now. RIP DB Sr., and if I can catch II in concert, I certainly will.

DB2: An angelic male voice in addition to being a wicked guitar player.
What a performance. I enjoyed the tour.Go Doyle Go.You are truly one of the best.
These two guitarists just killed it! Wow
MASTERSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!!! THANKS...
I cant watch this enough.. what an absolutely masterful display
Back for another dose of this. Spectacular is what it is!
Snowy White. He played a stint with Thin Lizzy back in the day as well as Peter Green, Mick Taylor, and a bunch of others. That LP is one road worn guitar. I bet the neck is like butter.
Different strokes ..for different folks ... it all sounds good , to somebody 11
Doyle in one of his finest moments!
Spectacular playing, sir!
Thank you.
Looking super HOT, if I may add.
Doyle is King 👑
I love this guy. Awesome musician.
incredible Texas talent...Stevie Ray is smiling down from Heaven Doyle...love this...
Doyle and Snowy just Kicking total Ass on this. .....WOW
this is brilliant to listen woh thank you for uploading and he plays the stars from heaven.
Sad lyrics (drug addiction); coupled with virtuoso playing of a 40 year old classic. This is a masterpiece. Wonderful live performance.
every time I see and hear this. my world is becoming brighter again.. I love this performance
Been a while I hadn't seen this. What a great performance...DBII
Bramhalls version of Gilmour is equally as good but just a different style, and I applaud that. Gilmour cannot play like Bramhall and vice versa. its so good to hear it in a different interpretation. Equal skill, equal emotion.
I think David would approve...imagine the three of them together David, Doyle and Snowy same song different styles. Great Video! Thanks!
Thanks for the post. Love this clip, it's wonderful. I could listen to it on repeat all day. Doyle's amazing. And not just when emulating someone else, though he's great at that.
And saw this show. Doyle did an incredible job; super amazing player.
This is from the 2001 Tour. Roger Waters - In the Flesh (Live).
This show was in Portland Oregon.
Magnifico Doyle.
SRV was his teacher !
Doyle is outstanding !!!!

i do wonder if lefty player the wayle doyle play..how they play..like power chord ..
The article that I read said Roger didnt want Doyle or Snowy to duplicate Gilmores solos anyway !
Tioga Fretworks he doesn't have to play upside down... it's his own choice. He is just trying to show off. But, to be fair, he did a great job. And of course it's not Gilmour. Tioga Fretworks some people will get it most won't thanks for your input

SNOWY WHITE!!!! GOD Bless You, Sir...
One of my favorietes video. What a great performance!
love it,it's one of my favorites, yeah!!!!
Doyle is a god in his own right. He's one of the only guys I know that can hold his own with Stevie Ray, Clapton and here he does Gilmore proud!.... and all while playing his guitar upside down!!!!!!
One of the best live performances ever!!!
This is just fantastic, I tried to see this concert in full, ( did once) but you can only see in clips. Doyle Bramhall fits in very well and Andy Fairweather Low is having a great time .
snowy and doyle sound great...ok i cant stop listening to the duo at the end..chills
dang Doyle Bramhall looking like a greek god and throwing in that extra high note on the chorus! epic!

Amazing harmonys with doyle and snowy reminds me of wishbone ash.

I'm in Heaven & wont come back , Respect !!!!!!
Doyle has mega-skills for sure. great job.
final part: goose bumps
great video...great song...great guitars! I'm a big Snowy White fan and DB does a great job as guitar and voice...
I love Snowys lead on this song. I have also bought a couple of his own albums or CD's
Doyle Bramhall is a genius player and singer. I can't imagine why he is not as famous as Stevie Ray was. He is that caliber of artist.
Doyle not only hits all Gilmours notes, ha adds something extra, this guy is extraordinary, how many could pick up a strat, strung upside down left handed like Jimi., and best Gilmour on the best of floyd for 30 years and multiple albums........amazing
I've been a fan of DBII since the Arc Angel days. Not only a world class guitar but an awesome voice too.
Doyle Bramhall ll is the best.
SRV, Clapton, Pink Floyd etc. don't ask you to play with them for no good reason... Doyle Bramhall II Best Blues Guitarist of today IMO ;-)
Snowy White is great, but Doyle is living it...the only guy that really gets the emotion that Gilmour put into it. That was awesome! Doyle rocks!
“In the Flesh Live” is an awesome DVD and this performance is the cherry on top.
Snowy White is a fucking legend. His note choices are astounding.
great stuff to listen to for a new fan of DBII
This whole album rocks. 1 of my dads favrits. Doyle was so hansum back then😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
lovely guitar work and singing!!
All I know is, I have to crank my volume up to 9-10 just to be able to hear it. I don't have this issue on most TH-cam videos, but it does happen on a few others.
Check out this throwback interview with Doyle Bramhall from 2001:th-cam.com/video/-lCtdBfL3jE/w-d-xo.html
What is your favorite Doyle Bramhall song?
The necklace that Doyle is wearing was SRV..It was left to him..The night Doyle was born, Jimmy Vaughn stood in for Doyle's father who was touring ..
*time of change the sound **4:33*
_I still hear it in 2019_
