  • This is an older video, so there are a few inaccuracies. Namely, I have way to much stuff on my webbing. Apart from that and a few other things, this impression should be pretty accurate.

I like the detail of the boots being laced left over right. I still lace up left over right today.

Glad to see a young man interested in the history of the Vietnam War. I grew up during that time. Had 3 uncles in the service. Two were drafted. One came home, another came home with severe mental problems and one is still there. As kids, we'd watch the news every night, listen to the body counts, see the footage of combat. See the body bags and coffins coming home...Yes, they did daily body counts. As a poor kid, you knew you'd be drafted and sent over there. It wasn't terrifying, but it was morbid. We all had lost family members in the war. Only the rich got out of it. It was like a count down to your 18th birthday. Lucky for me, the draft ended one year before I was old enough. That war has never ended for many of us. ✌ Peace.

Nice video and impression! My cousin was in the USMC as a Squad M60 gunner. His first deployment was Hue City, he is a Purple Heart Recipient and Silver Star Recipiant.

That’s heavy heavy! Fill up all the water bottles and the pouches with quarters to really get an accurate sense of all that gear

Man, I never wore that much crap. That’s for the new fish. Usually just the vest, no shirt, bandoliers and canteens. I used the ww2 helmet cover with a strap.

Where did you find the M16? Is it a replica or did you order parts different places and put it together yourself?
I've been looking for one or one close.
P.S, I'm a collector of Vietnam stuff to. From the watches, boots, rut sacks. And I just jad a Calvary sword gave to me a few months back.
I enjoy your channel, and just subscribed

Love your collection I've seen a Nam era pack with gear on it and it had an emty c ration can hanging on it with holes all around the side of it made with a can opening churh key I think the can was used as a stove. And I think they used it to open old school beer cans with it. Get a vintage chuch key.

Hmm youngster. Some history. Only on the H harness a place you might see the Kbar was upside down taped to the shoulder strap on the side opposite from your shooting shoulder with a rubber band holding the handle to the H. Also the canteen cover in the front was mostly used for 20 round M-16 magazines. The Marines in that time had M-14 magazines holders and canteen covers held more. If I remember correctly 5 fit in a canteen cover. Loaded bullets down empties up when you got time to put them away. Also the bandoliers carried more magazines

The 7 pocket bandolier held 20 rounds per pouch on stripper clips you loaded the magazine took out the cardboard and stuck the magazine back in. The black safety pin hooks to the shirt or gear to keep it from sloshing around

I have a helmet and shirt that are from the late Vietnam era . I don't have any surplus stores around me so it's VERY difficult to get anything for my kit. I envy you...
