Understanding that people from different countries see your trouble and try to help is very important. It gives hope that one day the war will end and we will return to a peaceful life.
can also recommend wraithbone spray priming, then thinned (2 parts skelly horde : 1 part medium) skeleton horde contrast for the armor, its easy and looks great :D
I think the best part about tortuga bay is the creative adaption still pays homage to the original terminators, yet still manages to look just as grimdark whilst still looking goofy! great video Guy.
Pays homage to the original Deathwing design too. When Deathwing were first introduced they had a Native American aesthetic, the feather charms are the primary bit of that still around.
I always forget how much your theme music slaps! I'd listen to this on repeat and it always makes me smile when a new video pops out and I get to rediscover my love for it!
That’s a great speed painting technique for the bone white armour. I may steal it, with colours on the gray scale, to paint the Lion as a statue. Thank you for sharing!😊
That's a gorgeous sculpt, and a brilliant paint job. I love the antique effect of the armour, makes it look like ancient, hewn stone. That, in addition to the sculpting make this an awesome model.
I'm so glad you're painting more dark angels on the channel. They're my favourite space marines and your oldhammer dark angels video is still one of the coolest in my opinion
Love it. I like how after the stippling on the armour I would have been convinced that I'd messed it up and needed to start again, it looks so bad. Then the next two stages pull it together and it looks great. It just shows how much I have to learn about mini painting!
I've been waiting for 10th edition before I start playing big 40k again, and I'm planning a Dark Angel army so this couldn't be more perfectly timed 👍🏻
Brilliant technique Guy, straight to the point. The only thing I would say is about the feather decorations. I am old enough to remember the wonderful bit of back story about the Death Wing origin about the plains world and the Native American lore that led to the bone coloured armour, so for me the feathers should be eagle feathers - white with a black tip. Of course it's your model, and your excellent choices but I just thought I would mention it, because I know you like the old history aspects of these things.
Everything you paint is absolutely amazing, keep it up. These videos cropped up in my suggested video list a few weeks ago. I've not been part of 40k for nearly 20 years. You are slowly roping me down the rabbit hole!
I don't know why Gw hasn't asked you to do your grimdark voice for their video games your voice is on point for it. Also this video was sooper helpful for my massive 30 Deathwing terminators I have in my backlog
Nice. Off topic, but when I dug out my old OG copy of Adeptus Titanicus I found the card fro White dwarf for $27. I remember when you got them to honour that classic model and it brought a smile to my face . Oddly enough all the models were there, even the styrofoam buildings..teaching my son to play
Ive just stripped the old paint job and now have 20 deathwing terminators to paint. Ive been stippling all my vehicles and love this style, but wasnt sure how i would stipple individual models, so now i have some tips from this video. thankyou bud :)

Bravo!
It didn't really make any sense, though it was well spoken. They were literally the First Legion, and had more victories than pretty much any other Legion. Everyone knows who the Dark Angels are and where they came from, they're famous even among marines. It just didn't make sense haha
Guy, I hate to make this type of comment, I very *very* rarely do but... damn... Your channel is like my top... FIVE things that makes me sort of... grounded in this universe in these times? Loved you since you painted your necrons, and while I'm in at of a a bit of a "(constant) painting hiatus", your vids alwasys make me wanna get going with something creative! And I (no homo)... kinda love you for it! Keep up the great work! Please! :))
stellar method, I've been having some trouble getting results like this when trying for beige/bone armor, so this is hugely helpful and appreciated :) also, I can confirm the same finish on all of GSW's wash inks (at least the ones i've tried), they all dry/cure glossy, which is... let's call it less than ideal for a shade type paint range. Their reddish washes can be useful if you're doing slimy monsters, for example some C'thulian maw or a disemboweled zombie, but just be warned, if you're hoping to use them as regular shades, you'll probably need to get a matt varnish as well....
I've had a bunch of Terminators in my collection, I was always meaning to add to my Fallen army. Might need to crack them out and trying painting them again. Now all I need is to figure out how to invert my Fallen paint scheme for Terminators.
What is the Dark Angels' secret shame..? 20,000 years ago, in a bedroom. "Lionel, what are you doing in here?" "MUM! DON'T COME IN!" "Oh, Lionel... " "DON'T LOOK AT ME!"
personally not the biggest fan of how the armor turned out, but as a quick method of painting a grimdark-esque bone white, id say it turned out great! was a little bummed you left all the ornate molding on the armor the bone white but then i remembered this is essentially a speed paint been painting Deathwing for a couple of years now and im constantly changing up how i get my base colors on, so it was also nice to see my boys getting love all across the community since sleeping beauty is about to come back! love you vids, keep doing what you do Guy!
I agree. The modern trend in mini painting is getting fast table top results, and often that means compromising on a lot of time invested that really enhances the end product. Lot's of washes and dry brushing, without a lot of progressive volumetric or edge highlights to increase the contrast means you do get some depth, but it's not vivid or consistent. Also the face was really..... not good lol.
@@afireinsidebrad it’s a useful paint for shit like, the skin of guardsmen but frankly it’s not a good face sculpt to paint pale. Big nose and lips like that would look more natural with a darker skintone
Fun trick I discovered by messing around: Scelly Horde gives a great taint to leadbelcher when applied in single areas of armorplates for example. It gives it a certain patina look that gives off a vibe of age. Not in the sense of corrosion, or rot, but rather... Tiredness? It makes steel look depressed, let's put it that way.
I always love seeing those Egg Termies, know some people call them Saturnine but I prefer calling them Eggs unless its the Kabewski digibash lmao. But yeah whoever made that model did amazingly.
I've been wanting to paint my DW knights in a more "grim-dark" style, compared to my other DW Terminators. I think that you have just provided the recipe :)
Really like it, I have a Primaris conversion (for an Inquisitor game) that I might paint in this armour, I know technically only the terminators are in that colour armour but sod it, looks too cool, and will be even cooler when he faces off against the antagonist; a Fallen...
I wanted to see colours on the angels on the shoulders and all the markings on the legs with the skulls too. Seems like a lot of detail just got lost in the bone white.
As a player for the dark angels, I am very grateful for this guide. Thank you! Greetings from Ukraine!
