Older video, but great info. I need to see if cura can do this instead of prusa. On a separate note, what fan shroud print is that? Thanks!

a year on im on your video, it seems now when you try to print it the 0.1mm drop prints first then it moves up a layer and prints again rather than printing the 0.2mm deck

Can you do an updated tutorial? This is amazing. Can it be thicker, or only one layer thick?

After watching this video, I tried a slightly different technique which happened to be simpler for what I was making. I started with a part (a light switch plate) and then added other parts to it (some STLs that were just text labels). Add those other parts by right-clicking the first part and "add part > load". Position those added parts where you want them, in all 3 dimensions. In my case, I made the text 2 layers thick and placed it flush with the surface of the switch plate. The Prusa Slicer right-hand panel will then give you a choice for each part which extruder to use. Other than that, the procedure was as outlined in this video.
(The bonus good news was that Prusa Slicer was smart enough to print the 2 layers of the text without a tool change. When calculating the thickness, don't forget that your configuration probably has a slightly thicker first layer. For example, my 0.16mm profile has a 0.20mm first layer.)

I followed your phone case tutorial on making multicolor single layer prints which worked but as i pulled it of the bed the colors all came apart. How did you get all of your colors to mold as one? I use a Prusa MK3 btw.

Does this only work with certain printers? I have an Anycubic Vyper and it made a purge line then the print head repositioned but it wouldn’t start printing

The vyper does color change differently. There are a few reddit threads about it. They have a workaround from what I just read

Along the line of @facelessfan's question, can you so this trick with more than 1 layer?
