I enjoyed your video. I lived in Asia in the late eighties. I noticed you said something about San Diego, that's my hometown. I'm thinking about coming over and checking out Thailand for a month.
I prefer the older larger then newer smaller. Everyone says they never end up using all the amenities in these “luxury” buildings. Not much of a drinker myself so it’s refreshing to know one can hang out in a pub without drinking.
i live in Arizona where its 115 in the summer. Some people run the AC at 70 degrees. I discovered we could run ours at 78 most of the time with a ceiling fan and its really comfortable. Drop it down a degree or two at night for sleeping and we are good to go. Having been to BKK many times, the humidity is way higher than we are used to and so we run the AC at the coldest setting possible!
Hey Joe… I made it!!! Arrived at 4am after a great Business Class flight from LA… Thanks for showing me how to make that happen using the Freq. Flyer credit cards… Cost me $95 and I’ve already accumulated enough miles to fly back using FF miles… See you on the 2nd at O’Sheas 5pm… Great condo… 👍🏻
When I move to Bangkok latter this year, after my house sells, one of the condo buildings I am going to look at is yours. According to FazWaz, there are a number of 52 sq meter one bedroom condos available for 20,-000 baht and others for 22,000 baht (prices from FazWaz). Not a corner unit like yours but a pretty good price I think. FazWaz says that construction was completed December 2008.
Yes, I'll do that once in awhile. When there is no sign of rain, I'll leave all the windows open when I head out the door. I like to air the place out. Shut up the windows and turn the ac on and I'm cool in 10 minutes
Thanks for showing us around your condo. The pool and gym area look fine to me and you have a nice living space. New subscriber about to do a deep dive on your other content 😊
Hi Joe, thank you very much for your videos. I want to ask you if your building has a U-shaped P-traps installed in the drains. Many condos and flats in Thailand lack it unless the owner installed themselves, which allow for direct access to sewer drains and foul-smelling bathrooms.
I've always had P-traps in my condos. I'm lucky with no odor in this building. My last building you would get a stink (once or twice a month) from the floor drains. I plastic coffee lid knocks back that smell. If you get a flood the lid will wash to the side.
Looks good friendly bar . I like these types of bars more than gogo and others . Do you know more couple of bars as same style of Stella? Im going there next week
Lol you are killing me, I was just thinking about Stella's, I miss that spot, next time you are their if you play darts pick Khrim (May be bad spelling) as a partner she was super fun to play with. True re Cold and Flu. Always a risk going in and out of ice cubes and into the heat! Keeping dry is also recommended as getting soaked in the rain = sore throat!!
Dryers are hard to find in a condo already, but you can find them pretty easily to buy. Electricity is more expensive compared with ave SEA salary, so they don’t use them. I have rarely seen an electric cloths dryer already installed in places in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand
i am certainly going to check out STELLA'S when i come to the city......other must is the HOLIDAY PASTRY/DINING ROOM AT CENTRAL MALL........AS WELL AS WANT TO SEE THE IMPERIAL CITY.........and check out the food markets
Hi Joe, Great vids, tons of invaluable info for us who plan to move to BKK - thank you very much! I will for sure reach out to Stella to hire her for help with finding a 2-br rental unit in your area when time comes... (are there 2-bdrms in your building?) Thanks again!
Any evening can be good. Thursday night is ladies' night next door at Sing Sing. So this is a good night. They have happy hour 2 for 1 cocktail and 99b beer until 900 pm. I usually go after 10 pm. Stella usually rolls in around 900 or 10:00. But any day is fun.
Most of the modern condo's have communal dryers next to their washing machines. In the rooms are normally just washers of course. Ok ....got to the end, yours has them too 😊
Yes, but funny enough, my shiny 3 year old condo didn't have a laundry. They had a laundry service. But, all I need is to fluff up my T Shirts. This 25 year old building is more my style.
Counting down the days until I can visit Stella's! Less than two months now. Hoping to get a condo in the Phrom Phong area. And, yes, looks like those condos like yours are l listing for about 25k now so you got a great deal locking in for 19k.
Yes, inflation is hitting every city in the world. Still, if they ask 25K, you might get 23k. Maybe 22K a year if you offer to pay 6 months at a time. I just spent 3k at the pub. Ha ha. So in the end, the rent is still a bargain compared to most parts of the world.
Thanks for the video man. I'd like to ask how I can find a place for 2-3 months? (I checked fb groups and some web sites but almost all rentals are with yearly contracts) I'm planning to stay in Bangkok for some months in the beginning and explore the country until I decide where to live.
Yes, most condos will want a 12 month contract for say 20K. Or maybe a 6 month contract for 25k. I'm sure you can do a one month Airbnb for under 30k. I'd just move around the city 3 times for one month at a time. If you plan to stay for 12 months, you can then make a decision. But, you are not going to get any savings for a 2 month stay.
Hi Joe, Informative video as usual.thank you. Any idea which biildings I could rent a one bedroom for three months around $1500.00 . Newer building? Thank you. Fred. From West Covina
$1500 a month? That's easy. Nobody will give a 3 month lease. Airbnb will be the way to go. If you want $500 a month, a serviced apartment like Oakwood on Sukhumvit Soi 24. Maybe 600? That's a great location. Of course, it all depends on size. 30m is very common. 60m is very expensive.
@@doidoi5762 I'm sure they would, but once again, get an Aibnb. It's legal for stays over 30 days. If they want $50 a night, I'd offer $35. Still way better than $90 a night at a hotel for a so/so breakfast and changing some towels. You'll want a washer anyhow
Looks good but a studio would probably be good enough for me. Yes a lot of places in Asia hot water is lukewarm so I usually have to turn off the ac before I take a shower. Some hotels I have stayed at especially the key operated electric ones you Have to shut the curtains and keep them shut for the ac to work properly. Anymore worldwide airlines are getting stricter with luggage fees so I would suggest to people to get an international size carryon that is a soft side as every ounce and pound counts.
Yes, many airlines like Air Asia have a 7k limit. However, they let you pay 200-300b extra for an extra 7k. My AC's cool the condo in 5 minutes, then I turn the, to 25 and it's perfect.
Yes, balconies are very small in maybe 80% of Bangkok condos. My buddy has a nice patio table. His rent is also 110k. So, it's all a trade-off. Plus, if I'm hanging outside, I'm in a new place to eat or drink. Not sitting next to my AC unit. I have 90k extra to spend on new places to see.
No that's not lame at all. I just had 7 beers. Ha ha. That's a little lame. I'm not sure about the Heineken Zero. I'm sure if you hang out for a few days, she will be glad to get you some. In the meantime check out the Singha carbonated drinks. Lemon and Orange are really good.
Yes, that was my friend Ohm. She recently moved to Sweden. Maybe she will be back soon. Check out the Bangkok pat TH-cam channel. He's a good guy. I believe he is doing walking tours around the city. But, I'm not certain. Send him a comment and ask.
It's 54m. Plenty of larger units available if 54m seems too small. But, pull out that checkbook. It won't be cheap in Bangkok. Maybe a smaller city like Pattaya. I've stayed in many 29m or 31m. About 30m is the normal size.
I would rather have a home than pay rent I’m not investing in someone else’s property you never own nothing a complete waste of money but to each his own
You do you. Countless people come over and buy a 200k condo. Then, run back home in a year. Maybe it sells for 190k, or maybe it sits empty a year. I've owned houses and condos in San Diego. Here I'll rent for 500 a month and move anytime I feel like it. But, like you said, to each his own
Great to know Stella can take care of many things needed for someone just coming over!
She's a sharp lady.
Love Stella’s when I’m in BBK, great little bar. I can confirm she found me a condo early Covid days.
Stella is good people

Outstanding views from your condo. Sweet!
It's a great view

Yes, even this older condo has a small gym and nice pool. No complaints from me.

Ya, that humidity is no joke. Even so, 24 with a fan seems to be perfect for me. It's not hot or cold. It's just normal feeling.
