    The First time my garage spring broke I paid $500 bucks, second time that it broke I paid $95 bucks + taxes for the spring and i did the job. I don’t get it why they charge a lot for 30 minutes of work 🤷🏼‍♂️

      Very good! Just make sure you don't get hurt!

      Well, that can be a dangerous thing to do. Lucky you didn't get injured. Most of us should never try this ourselves.

      Gas, car maintenance, car insurance, technician salary, office persons salary, warehouse persons salary, benefits, employment taxes, income taxes, unemployment insurance, general liability insurance, errors and ommissions insurance, building rent, heat, air conditioning, lights, building maintenance, computers, computer programs, office furniture, printers, paper, record keeping, lawn care at building, trash, lawyers, accountants, banking fees, advertising, uniforms, training, telephones, website, SEO, warranty costs, materials, ect ect. And after everything, hopefully a little tiny bit a profit.

    I needed to replace my both springs and found that the drums needed replacement as well. It broke during Thanksgiving. All of it costs me for $789 ( I went with commercial springs). The guy gave me a good deal.

    Hi, very interesting video and Thank you for posting! I got a double very heavy garage door (we are in hurricane zone) which is out of balance because is almost impossible to lift it manuanlly. I follwed your video and I found that I can't rotate the springs any more, they are totaled compressed. What should be the issue here, are the springs damaged, lost of eleasticty, old and need to be replaced?. The whole garage door and lifting system was changed in 2015. Thank you

    • @tcgaragedoor
      @tcgaragedoor  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would recommend calling a company out to see the issue for you. There is two things like you said, which would be the springs are not correct on the door, because a door should be able to be lifted by hand, or you need to add more tension to the springs (recommended a professional does this)

    Hi there. I have 2 different size of tension spring. The left side is .207x2x21 this was snap. Right side is 243x2x32. I change to both .218x2x34 first but didn't work out, door still heavy to lift. Went to .243x2x32 both but tension was too strong thou. What advice me should i used. I have 7x16 door. Thanks in advise

      Quite difficult to say, what i can do is link you a video of me installing a new spring. this video i weigh the garage door, and then we custom make the garage door springs by hand, by taking the size required and using a torch or a grinder to cut down to size. This is why we charge what we do, because we make sure that your garage door is getting the exact springs for your door.

    I paid $1300 for a pair of torsion springs, plates, rollers and panels on my 3 car garage include bitter sealers too. Is that a reasonable amount? Im curious cause I am now seeing how low the costs are online.

    • @tcgaragedoor
      @tcgaragedoor  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say thats pretty reasonable. It really depends on the area you are in, but spring price is depending on what size springs you got. If you got new sections for your door, which you made it seem like you did, those are quite costly.

    • @Thepearlcapture
      @Thepearlcapture 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for sharing. Due to one of the torsion spring broke and the rollers and opener had to try really hard to open the garage door our garage door warped in which possibly caused the top middle part of the garage to bring cold air. Our tech guy used his shoulders to push it back a little since it bent and it made a huge improvement. There is a little light coming through but since we live in the Midwest I’m worried we should get the top part adjusted. What do you recommend?

    • @tcgaragedoor
      @tcgaragedoor  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Thepearlcapture Usually the top being bent down the middle can be helped by adding a top strut the the garage door, there should be a metal piece on the very top of the door all the way across the door. We are out of chicago, so i totally understand wanting that door to seal and not let the cold air in. Like i said, we have doors that sometimes just need a new top section because of the severity, but we also put struts on 24ft long doors with no issues and it makes the door more stable

    • @tcgaragedoor
      @tcgaragedoor  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Price really depends where you are located, and how many cycles are on the springs. If you are getting 100k cycles on those springs, you should really never need to replace them ever again. If you are getting 10k, something may be wrong with the quote!

      Its fumy. I just watched a video on making 1500$ a day. That was at 300ea and doing 5.spring jobs.
      I wonder what there family discount is?

    • @tcgaragedoor

      @@andrewm1346That’s a great question might have to make a video on that one! Smaller company’s are sometimes a 1-2 man show with 1 truck, no shop etc.. (which is not a problem at all everyone starts here) Then there is companies with multiple trucks, shops, more employees etc.. companies with more overhead have to charge more to make ends meet. also what is the cost of living where your located can change the price.
      You also have to think of the service you are getting. Are you just getting the spring change, or does the company completely go over your door making sure everything is good, lubricating. There is a lot of different factors that go into cost.

    • @kwangnam4694
      @kwangnam4694 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@andrewm1346 You’ll have to pay for the springs and time you spend measuring and ordering the springs. Overhead Doors charged $350 for my friend’s house. I priced the springs and it’s around $100 for the springs alone. They lubricated all parts and inspected them. I’m doing my own but I wouldn’t charge nothing less than $300 to do someone else’s.

    • @medicalcorp6629
      @medicalcorp6629 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andrewm1346 thats a load of crap. .. that is assuming that all service calls will be for spring (which is not the case) - many calls are just for maintenance and simple stuff, balancing a door. that you wont even make half of that. and that $300 sounds nice but when you factor in 20-30% business tax depending on your state, gas, insurance, health care and maintenance and the increased cost of living, you might as well work for a company as a W2 ,
