If we’re honest it’s a fine “truck” for the 90% of truck buyers out there needs. Just like a ford maverick is more than enough for 90% of truck buyers. The idea that we need 3/4 ton diesel trucks to haul our far butts to work and back blows my mind. 90% of the trucks I see on the road (which is a lot as I’m a truck driver) are a sole person inside and nothing in the bed save a cooler.

I drive a 2012 Ford F-150. It is my only vehicle. So yea, about 90% of the time it is just me in the truck. However, when I need to haul something, I've got the capability to do so. Also, the truck has a 36 gallon tank. So I have a 600 mile range on the highway between refuels. It's an excellent road-tripper and cargo hauler. There are even times when I can go 3 weeks without refueling when just doing local driving. Again, it is my only vehicle, with over 154,000 miles on it, and it is paid for. It does just about everything I ever need to do, when I need to do it without having to rent something else. I would consider a little EV for local driving if it was under $25k. No way would I ever spend over 30k on something with a limited range. Plus, I don't have the time to stand around and wait for an EV to charge when on a 400 plus mile trip.

I'm so tired of the 90% bullshit or the fact that you have a problem with people you don't know driving 3/4 ton trucks. The fact is you don't actually know how often they use their truck for "truck stuff", personally I don't care if it's 90% or 10% of the time. That doesn't change the fact that people buying a truck aren't going to buy the cybertruck for a variety of reasons listed and proven in this video.

It’s a piece of crap and these Cybertruck videos hurt TFL truck’s credibility. They give it credit for such mundane non-benefits.
Steer by wire: there’s nothing inherent about having steer by wire that limits a vehicle to 360 degrees and having dynamic steering ratios. That’s a design choice not to have positive stops at greater turn counts. The low speed small-input mode should be something that can be adjusted to kick in at a certain speed that is user selectable. That would actually make it beneficial and take the unpredictability out of it.
TFL seriously says this is the best off-roader electric truck. OK. But a nice differential does not a superb differential make. It’s ground clearance is nice but the wheelbase is very long, so it mitigates that specification’s usefulness. There is no shortage of videos of Cybertrucks being pulled out of pretty normal off-road situations. There is plenty of video of Rivians and F150 lightings not struggling with the similar conditions. Not to mention, you don’t verifiably destroy the other electric EV’s fit and finish the first time it gets wet, gets a finger print, or gets dirty. Tesla advises against parking the darn thing outside.
This “truck” is a joke. Let’s run down the list of undelivered bought features. A useless rear view mirror. Useless sun visors. No grab handle on the “best off-road EV truck”. Useless bed from side approach due to body panels. Horrible serviceability because normal Tesla things, plus the bed and can are incorporated into each other. Tonneau cover that destroys rearward visibility. Useless towing range.
It’s a novelty lifted sedan with horrid back seat headroom, a truck bed you can *sometimes* use without compromising safety, and (I’ll give it credit for one thing) impressive payload. So it’s basically like a lifted heavy EV station wagon that costs $100K.
      🤮

This has nothing we need and is nothing but a truck for the rich who really don’t need a truck except to haul groceries in. To add to the fact it’s designed for no efficiency (aerodynamics) by a third grader, this truck may sell to some but to the folks who actually use a truck for actual truck things; it’s useless

Some of your remarks are not true. No head room? I’m 6’1 and my head doesn’t hit. Most vehicles nowadays have a computer to run your car and electronics. Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there.
90% of the people who own trucks don’t haul anything. As an engineer, I see a perfectly designed truss in the cyber truck, but you can’t see it can you? How do you think a F-150 size vehicle can carry a 2500 lbs payload? It can handle more, but they need longevity. Bridges use trusses. It’s way more aerodynamic than any raptor, dodge or ford. Rich? Have you priced an Escalade? $120k. Raptor$100k. At least it’s obtainable when it hits $80k for most people.

This truck rides every bit as good as my raptor R. It has a bigger truck bed, blows the doors off the raptor R at every speed the raptor r is capable of. Maybe it is because this is my first electric vehicle, but this thing is a blast to drive.

Bigger bed? Maybe on paper, but not in any actual usable metric as show here. Blows the doors off the Raptor...maybe on the street. What was the point of the Raptor R again? Oh yeah, going fast off-road in the desert. Guess what? Both of them are faster on the street than a Jeep Rubicon. Yet the Rubicon will go "faster" on a real trail than either of those (given that neither a CT or a Raptor will physically get to the sort of trail a Rubicon will). Does that make the Rubicon 'faster'? No, it just means you're comparing the wrong metrics. They summed it up well at the end. Excellent gimmick. Terrible truck.

Likely the big reason it didn't do well at the truck pull is because of the tires. I watched the truck pull video before this and noticed that the tires on the Cybertruck are essentially street truck tires, while the RAM from that video had more aggressive off-road oriented tires. If you had similar tires the Cybertruck might have matched the RAM or possibly beat it. The tires prevented it from putting the power down on the dirt properly.

I'm pretty sure they were thinking in terms of a robotaxi.
Over 90% of vehicles on the road have a single passenger. Naturally if you want to build a robotaxi fleet you'll want 80% or so of your vehicles to be for one or two passengers to allow peak efficiency - but to do that you'll probably want 10% of vehicles able to haul an average family PLUS a good deal of cargo, including being able to handle Home Depot runs, while still being energy efficient for the majority of their runs that don't need that. You'll want it to be tough to deal with the fact that people don't treat stuff they rent the same way they treat stuff they own. Thus, Cybertruck.

I have a 250 diesel and can load over the side of my bed just fine. The difference is the way the cybersuck slopes upwards and you can’t reach every area the same way. Cybertruck freaks always complain when I compare them to my diesel even though they have 2 or 3 motors and are turned up to the max from factory and have air suspension but still can’t handle the same weight or get anywhere near the range and costs far more to operate especially while towing.

Nathan’s comments about the Cybertruck bed being “useless” because of the shape of the bed shows that he’ll whine about literally anything. The Cybertruck’s bed is shaped differently than all other trucks, because it goes from 4’2” at the bottom to 4’10” at the top, so it’s literally BIGGER than most other truck beds. And if your truck has ANY lift or bigger tires on it, you’re not reaching over the side of the bed to get stuff - that’s not a thing unless you’re unusually tall. Then it has a higher payload than any half-ton truck and more in the range of 2500s. C’mon Nathan, stop looking for excuses to complain - your constant whining is as annoying as a mosquito in a tent.

It towed 85 miles and used the power my house uses in 4 days.... LOL Now that is what I call sustainable transportation.... LOL @11:00

You CAN renew the spent energy with solar. You CANNOT renew used gas. You have to find more oil, ship it, refine it with electricity and more gas, diesel used in truck hauled in tanks, gas stations use electricity to pump fuel - then you can use it in your car. It takes way less energy to make a solar panel than to ship crude from Saudia Arabia to the U.S. Solar panels last 30 yrs avg. if a car lasts 30 yrs, it will burn fuel and oil the entire 30 yrs.

Terrible logic. the gas truck used 3x the energy of the cyber truck so yeah its a lot of power, enough to power your house but your gas truck is using WAY more energy enough to power your house for 12 days to do the same job

looks WAY better wrapped. although that wouldnt have been my personal choice of design, Tesla should have learned from the fingerprints etc issue from Delorean doing the same thing, and they should have offered wrapped/painted versions

Another Tuber plated theirs and improved the process by accident mid-plating by polishing the steel first. 28K gold is OTT but different types of plating could make this a pretty striking vehicle. A blue chrome would be nice. Not a big CT fan but I don’t find it so polarizing and I’ve seen several and some of the wraps are nice.

TFL seems to be doing more and more of what they call in the TV world “clip shows”. When shows, especially but not exclusively animated shows, need to put a show together quickly and cheaply, they fall back on putting on a show largely consisting of already shown material. Seem familiar?

That's probably why we don't see him as often in the review videos anymore lol. Unfortunately these reviews have to be worded very carefully otherwise manufactures will stop sending test vehicles due to negative even if honest publicity.

It's not for me, but I am glad it exists. Innovations and moving the industry often require significant risks, and Tesla is not afraid to build something different from the status quo. I applaud them for that. I am unsure if SS is worth it, but it offers body panel strength that has not been seen before on a pickup. In my opinion, it requires a wrap. 48V architecture is essential for future vehicles as it reduces wiring and weight and adds efficiency. Steer by wire is probably the future of all cars; again, less weight and efficiency come from it. Regarding EVs, the unibody/structural battery pack produces vehicles with less weight and smaller battery packs, which will likely change how cars are built. So, as polarizing as this vehicle is, it's also a concept vehicle that has been put into production and will be looked back on as a catalyst for future automotive engineering.

It's been a while since it got much mention, but the stainless steel is not just about a rust-resistant and tough vehicle. It's also about spreading the cost of producing the new stainless steel alloy required for SpaceX's starship over a much larger market, in order to make space travel more affordable. They basically had one of their suppliers build a new foundry just to produce stainless steel for Tesla and SpaceX.

towing constantly 3 different trailers in rotation with my model Y Performance, handles great. but more range would be convenient. I get about 90-150 miles with trailer. and about 200-240 no trailer. 16 ft fiberglass boat- 6x10 enclosed trailer with cargo (2500lbs) 7x20 foot aluminum trailer with cargo (a little under 4000lbs)
