  • A longterm review of the Current USA Serene Sun light system after using it for over a year. This was part of the full Serene Aquarium system I had purchased. I did a review in a separate video on the entire system and a video showing the features of the light system. Now that I have been using the light system for a while I wanted to give my thoughts on the positives and negatives.

    Awesome video. I've been curious about the serene system and reviews are hard to find. As far as controlling the light, it seems like an app would be easier. I have a 10 gallon tank with a fluval aquasky. All my plants are low to mediumish light. It's app controlled, which makes it super easy to customize and control. It has three modes, manual, auto, and pro. Pro mode let's you set custom time points and light level for those time points. Red, green, and blue lighting levels can be change on auto and pro mode. The fluval plant is the more powerful version of the Aquasky.
    The only thing, is for power outages, you would still need to use the timer trick. But with the Aquasky and Plant 3.0, you can set multiple photo periods.

      Thanks I appreciate that! Yeah an app would improve the light so much. I'm still happy with the overall system but in their future iterations of the light they definitely should give more and better control to the user.

    I have a Fluval 3.0 plant light and I'd highly recommend them. I was thinking about trying a new light on a tank I'm currently working on. Thanks for reviewing it.

      Good to know that you like the Fluval one. It's been on my list of ones I want to try. I've gone for more lower end ones recently so good to know it's worth it

    Thanks bud. I'm about to venture into my first scape and this, I really had my heart set on this product. What are the PAR numbers on your light? Thanks and cheers!

    I find myself running into the same issue with wanting to have more than one viewing time. You said you set on time to 00:00. What is your off time set to? And Im curious as to what you have your mechanical timer set to. How many hrs of light are you set for?

    • @TheAquaticCoder

      So I've changed it around a lot to try and balance how much light the plants get vs too much light leading to algae. I am doing one light period again for 6 hours right now so I have my mechanical timer set from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm (I mostly have free time in evening so I have the tank light on then). For the end time of the current system you would just want that to be over 06:00 so it stays on the full 6 hours. I think I just have it at 08:00 right now.
      When I was using two light periods I would keep the current system the same as is right now (going from 00:00 to 08:00). The mechanical timer would control the duration it was actually one. For example I would have the mechanical time run from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and then 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This is two 3 hours periods so if you wanted for hour periods you could just add an hour to each.

      @@TheAquaticCoder since Im not planted Ive been using the 2 light periods. 8-10 and 3-6. Its been working out for me. Thanks for the info. Seems like your light sits way higher than mine. Are you using a different bracket?

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DavDaDdue Yeah I believe the kit I got came with two types of brackets. I got mine with the full aquarium kit they offer. Looking at just the Serene Sun light it looks like a bracket that sits much closer to the water. I don't see anywhere on their site where they offer the one I have.

    Where did you get the brackets that lift your lights up?

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  ปีที่แล้ว

      They came with the full Serene Aquarium set. They might not come with just the lights. I don't see them for sale on the Current USA website, the closest thing is "Dual Adjustable LED Light Arm Kit" but that is pretty expensive. They really should offer these even as an additional purchase as I know someone else asked me the same question.

    😊I liked your video but if you don't know what the sound is for, I invite you to go see the video of DR plants with storm and sound. It doesn't have the siren sun light but it has the satellite PRO PLUS light from CURRENT USA I don't know how he managed to put the sound on! But it's amazing!

      Thank you! I wasn't able to find the video searching up "DR plants with storm and sound". Do you have the title of it?
