If you go into camera control and turn off “Clean Preview “ you get the on screen camera controls back allowing you to use the capture button and screen controls.
Thanks for your video, nicely done. I received my iPhone 16 Pro on the 20th and was looking forward to this particular feature (camera button), and have not been disappointed. I love it. I take pictures of events in my life every day and have the app 1 Second Everyday build a video for me at the end of the year. I have missed several things I would have liked to capture but couldn’t because I couldn’t get my camera app opened fast enough. Now with the press of a button I’m ready to get that memory. Thanks for the tip of using the screen to scroll the menu!
My iPhone 16 comes in a few days, but I see way too many people bot even give tine activly trying to get used to the camera controls and just hating on it because they don’t get it right away! thanks for actually putting more then 30 seconds into testing it
I love the 16PM! I bring up Instagram with Camera Control, I still have the default Camera App on Home Screen. People are really dismissive of the Camera Control Button. I move to this phone from a 13mini and loving it.
Having already been using the 15 Pro Max's Action button to open the camera / take pictures / take videos for the last year, the 16 Pro Max is an easy skip for me this year. We'll see how it evolves by next year's model.
I appreciate having the camera control on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. It's worth noting that you can record a video by holding down the camera control while in the Camera app. Recording starts as soon as the control is pressed and stops when it's released. 🐬
Great video. I have not been able to hold the Pro without a “ring” for several generations. I cannot imagine one-handing the Pro Max. I find taking pictures with the camera button using my ring is super stable.
Further camera control settings: > Settings/ Accessibility/ Camera Control: Light Press: Show Adjustments > On. Allow Camera Control to make adjustments: Lighter- Default- Firmer. *Lighter makes It easier to control...

In combination with my Torras case I can finally shoot easy vertical with one hand on my pro max while walking with my dog. The button is great to use loving it.
I think in its present form, the camera button is a gimmick. I like that I have a button to launch the camera but other than that it’s kind of dumb. You can control all of those functions just as fast if not faster in the UI. However, when (if?) they make it how it was supposed to be… half press to focus and full press to take a pic like a DSLR… it will be awesome.
@@stratman103 there are so many other options to use in the settings to make opening the camera easier as well. On my iPhone15 I have it set where the camera opens if I double tap the back of the phone anywhere. So just holding the phone normally in my hand walking around, I just use my pointer finger and ‘tap tap’ and it opens right to camera screen ready to take the picture. I think I like that even better than this whole new button lol
That camera button is a problem in portrait mode for those of us that are left-handed. How am I supposed to swipe that touch surface? Do I bend my pinkie unnaturally?
Haven't you thought that maybe the camera control was just an empty idea in the beginning just to make the manufacturers of cases or other accessories pay to implement the button that would make it work on top of the button itself. Maybe it's the same thing they do with the cables and the money they make the companies pay. Then over time they have been thinking about what to add and what to use the button for. But in the first instance it was simply an idea to get profit from it.
Give the camera button a chance nothing stays the same forever we have to learn how to adapt whether this is the future of iPhone or not and of course most of all if you don't like it don't buy it
Figurd you'd be an apple schill about this and say how great it is instead of what it really is. Literally everything it does you can do more effectively already without the button lol
Would have been better if they made the Action button a two stage button and dropped the silly tracking ability. The surface is just too small and so many buttons is starting to make the phone look ugly. It’s also hard to feel where the button is as it is flush to the phone.
FYI every video you put out has the 9to5Mac video ident slightly cut off at the start. it's supposed to be 3 distinct tones, but we only hear 2 (and a small hint of the first tone). Pls fix.
I’ve used it. It really isn’t. It doesn’t matter how you wanna dress it up. The button is just an excuse for Apple to say they added something new when in reality, none of the features they’re headlining have made it to any phone let alone the 16. Camera control is fundamentally useless
Gimmick button, I don't use it. Apple sold a phone that is not ready for AI, Siri and Camera control. Here in Europe it will probably be a long wait till it's solved.
I have the 16 pro max, which is a good phone but I can’t stand this button. Too fiddly, slow, stiff (moves camera) and unintuitive. And yes I can use it properly; it’s just a terrible design. Just really un-Apple.
The on-screen swipes for the Camera Control UI are so much easier to use, it's a game changer for me.

It's trending to hate the iPhone camera button

I have been using it to open the camera but that is it. Using it to shutter shakes it too much. The other settings are all easier to do on the screen.
Camera control is a perfect example of “if it needs an explanation” there’s something wrong.
Exactly. He spent minutes and minutes explaining what this "button" does and I'm exhausted thinking I will never use that.🤨
Love the Gotham fc hat mate

I have figured out he camera control pretty quickly…its not as hard to use as ppl make it out to b..just takes a little practice!
Great information on the "button" and the case options. 🐬
LOVE YOUR WALLPAPER!!! Where did you get that??
How do you get access to your wallpapers if you’re premium subscriber of 9to5Mac?
Very helpful information, thanks. 🐬

Have been thoroughly enjoying the new camera control button despite a lot of people hating on it. I guess haters are gonna hate lol
Gimmick 💯

Just really un-Apple.

They could just add an option to double press power for camera (like some androids...)..
