I like how you said, "the iPhone 15 feels intentionally held back." I think Apple is purposely trying to push us all to the Pro models and that the "regular line" will see less and less features as we go into the iPhone 16 / 17s. Good video as always.
The most profit is always going to reside with the top tier model and it's part of business these days to deliberately put out a few products with there being a cheaper frugal product and more expensive frivolous product. And for shits & giggles I wanna point out that Apple is the only company I know of who sells a stand separately for $1,000 buckaroos. 😯
they ARE doing that, all the inovations are saved only for the pros and that's, for me, basically saying there consumers are stupid to buy the most expensive because the basic one is just a copy of the previous pro even tough they CAN make the pro features into a basic one
I’m not sure what you guys are talking about. The lower tiers are getting the A16 Bionic, upgrade from the regular 14’s from last year. Plus it gets Dynamic Island, matte finish on the back, curved edges, updated modem, updated U1 chip, updated cameras, etc. so basically you just want them to put out only two models, the smaller pro and bigger pro. Just say that instead of bitching about the lower models every year
So you want the iPhone 15 to have 120 Hz, the third camera, faster charging speeds and be the same price it is now? How do Apple sell two phones at two different price points without taking features away on the cheaper one? What are you people talking about? "The 128GB iPhone 15 is really good storage but it feels like Apple should have given us a 1TB base model. It just feels like they didn't so we'd need to pay more for the 1TB option"
imagine my wife had iphone x and i got her the 15 pro max, She can't stop taking picture and video she is obsessed with her iphone. I myself own samsung
I love how honest you are, some other reviewers took this iPhone too gently, it has so many missing features no matter how the consumer doesn't notice, it needs to be there
my iPhone 11 finally died, so I got a iPhone 15 Plus in green and its great. Love the green. I don't really notice the 60hz, it works great, and didn't need the extra camera stuff, so saw no reason to get the Pro... plus the non-Pro physically looks better. Not fond of the color options or titanium stuff which looks weird.
i got the 15 plus in cloud blue i also loved the phone to me it was a big upgrade from the google pixel 6 and idk why people care about the refresh rate of the phone because it drains the battery more anyway
i'm a samsung girl all the way, but this iphone 15 has me in a chokehold. from the colors to the size to the dynamic island. i'm in love with how the dynamic island looks and it's probably one of the only reasons why i'd get the iphone 15, i won't get the iphone 14 because i refuse to get a lightning cable :/
@@sleepingisvital8789 except it makes the iphone more unique. every other android uses punchholes now. I might've agreed if we were talking about the iphone 10 to 13 notch but the dynamic island actually has use.
Something to else to keep in mind, the 800 price tag is USA only. Europe, Canada, Australia, India is around 1100 for the 256 model. Thats 23ultra pricing, which makes it a really bad value
@PvtAnonymous considering how often Brands like Samsung, Google, Honor etc excluding Apple run some kind of juicy offer e.g: Pre-order deals, the coming Black Friday in Germany for instance, would see that s23 Ultra's official price drops significantly, plus other very attractive offers, this is very typical and it's something Appe never do, at least not to my knowledge. So yes, it's indeed cheaper. As we speak, the s23 Ultra 512GB is selling at the price of the base 256GB plus free buds and it's not yet Black Friday..
I feel like Apple comes up with the pro models first and then thinks about what they can remove/downgrade to still sell it as the new model without getting too much into the older models territory where it would be too obvious.
I think they would be better off reducing the price by £100 or more- keeping the 60 hz display etc. if it had a 90-120hz display and macro feature on the ultrawide and a few more bells and whistles the current price would be more appropriate!
Kudos for posting an honest review, rather than trying to sugarcoat the facts. 60 Hz display is definitely an embarrassment in front of the Android lineups and that needs to be addressed by Apple. There are decent deals available on the iPhone 14 Pro Max which is definitely a better value for money than the regular iPhone 15. The only added advantage is the USB-C when compared to 14 PM.
You're making great points in your video, but coming from an iPhone Pro 12 with 60 Hz refresh rate, I'd say it's quite acceptable in most cases. Granted, if somebody is used to 120 Hz it's perhaps hard to "downgrade", but if you have an older iPhone model then I think that the 15 still makes a lot of sense.
@unholydonuts It's all relative to the screen size. The bigger the screen size, the worse the perceived framerate will be. For identical animations, the physical distance that the object moves per frame will be greater on a larger screen, thus, making it feel choppier. 60hz on my iPhone SE 2 feels fine. 60hz on my iPhone 6S+ is noticeably worse. 60hz on my S23 Ultra feels terrible.
Well most people can’t tell the difference anyways, it’s fine if you’re blind I guess. But I’m just not that guy to spend 800 on a phone and not get that 120 hz I need. Hope EU forces Apple to give us that faster hz.
the iPhone 15 is not trying to be competitive with other phones. It's just trying to be a good enough upgrade from iPhone 14. Average consumer wont care about 120hz much and wont care about fast data transfer. That's the truth for base iPhone users.
Username, lol. Agree but consumers should know the competition provides more, for less cost. Not sure they know. It’s the cost savings for apple at their customers expense that bothers me.
@@ArdaSReal the iPhone 15 is good, it is. But if you want 120hz and those extra features. Then get an Android phone in a similar price if not cheaper. That is if you don't mind Android.
Was so excited about the iphone 15 but after comparing it to the Pixel 8, I decided to go with the pixel and couldne be any happier! (Came from an iphone 13). Thanks for the review!
@@star-yh3us light gaming works (i play games like two dots, alto ect.) If you're looking to play processor heavy games, then probably Samsung if you like android. I don't know if the base iPhone 15 would be good for heavy gaming since all I saw were iPhone 15 pros demoing console type games.
@@JousaCam thank you for your response. I chose iPhone cause of iOS updates and longevity and compatibility with everything. I will get a pixel as secondary for the camera etc. or I’ll just invest in an actual camera
@@JousaCam thank you for respecting my choice. I’ve been with android for a long time but they’re not as optimized or has as much longevity or resale value as iPhones. Android will always have a place in my heart.
Thank you for this great review! For someone like me who’s undecided on which phone to buy it’s extremely useful that you were so clear and precise when stating both the positive and negative aspects of this phone. I’m going to watch your reviews of other phones too to help me decide which one to buy
I think all the things it lacks just don’t matter for most people. I “downgraded” from a pro iPhone and I’m happy with it. The weight and overall usage for me is really great. The cameras are great and you don’t really need more unless you’re doing 300x crops. If you are, you should just get a real camera.
@@karolislatakas137 I switched for terrible reasons. I liked the feel of it and usb-c. Since I switch between android and iOS all the time (mobile developer problems), usb-c was a really nice upgrade for my workflow.
I came from iPhone 12, then switched to iPhone 15 Plus, I felt there’s a difference (of course I’m not used with the Pro models). Nice points! I like how you pointed things than the mainstream did.
The only down side is the refresh rate and if you don’t game it’s so irrelevant if your being honest. The iPhone definitely a better phone camera and battery are better bit by much but still we shall wait for the S24 then can make the comparison
@@youhavenvrfeltawomanstouch9599 you don’t need to game to appreciate 120hz. When you are used to use 120hz in everyday use, you won’t go back. I will never let my 13 Pro for a 60hz iPhone : it makes no sense
@@youhavenvrfeltawomanstouch9599 better by comparison huh by what exactly please educate me. And secondly the refresh rate makes a difference when it should come with a 800 dollar phone and also it’s for gaming, social media video etc
Great to listen to some much needed honesty from North American based reviewers. Well done Ella. I understand that reviewers across the Atlantic are biased and even blindsided by Apple products. Especially Americans and not necessarily Canadians. Apple is a US company after all and so there is an obvious sense of pride and patriotism. But people outside the United States, around the world, are fully aware that Apple products are limited and way too expensive for what they are. Americans in particular don't realise how expensive these devices are in other countries and so the value for money is even worse - rubbish tbh. I have been an iPhone user for a decade but the recent UK price increases have meant that I have moved to Samsung just out of principle. I hadn't appreciated just how much better Samsung phones are in many areas, even though I still use my iPhone 13 mini for business. I played around with the new iPhone 15 Pro but I decided to go with a Samsung S23 ultra instead because the display is far better and the battery isn't even a topic worth discussing. In fact, I have stopped using my iPad mini with Apple pencil because I am just using the ultra S23 pen for everything I used the iPad mini for. Times are changing and Apple needs to wake up.
Nah most of what you said ain’t true. The base model iPhone 15 is 800, while base model s23 is around 900. The way you feel about Apple is the way others feel about Samsung. People make fun of apple for their prices, but are willing to shell out the exact same amount of money on an Samsung. Samsung literally has the most expensive smartphone on the market with their Galaxy fold Z 2. If both phones have similar capabilities, then really it’s the dealers choice. You get mad at people for choosing Apple, while others might get mad at you for choosing Samsung. You feel like the other mainstream reviews are biased towards apple because they gave them good reviews, but only agree with this creator because she supported your ideas of apple. Everyone is bias and so are you. If she would make a similar review about Samsung, you would talk about her being “biased” because it’s not an American company. There’s a reason Apple is the 1st or 2nd richest company in the world. And how long before you start to justify Samsung exorbitant prices?
I personally don't mind the 60Hz when scrolling all that much, but I mind it a LOT when it comes to the swipe home animation. It just looks horrible and it feels much more noticeable when there's a frame drop or stutter(something wonderful that iOS 16 finally brought to the iPhone 🙄) compared to on a 120hz display like my 13 Pro.
@@AyaWettsmaybe it could be because it’s just come out. In some months or years it could start to have some lags and stuff like that. I noticed it a lot on my ipad for example. But it’s kind of normal and could happen with other brand of smartphones
@@talete7712 hmm intresting i had my ipad for 5 years no problems and i still have a iphone 8 and no drops or lags it may be xuase ur storage is very full
@@arunprasanth9987 I love it, definitely better than my 11 was. I could still live with the older non-OLED screen, its not as big of a difference as people try to make it out to be... but the OLED is nicer. I got used to my old 11 running the battery dead in like 6 to 8 hours the last several months, but it said it was at 70% health. I had to worry about making sure I charged it... on my 15 plus I'll still stick it to the charger at night, but I am not sure I've ever had it under 50% or tried hard to test it. Its been good enough to never be any concern yet.
The problem is that the average iPhone 15 target buyer has no idea whatsoever of what's out there. They probably have an 11 or 12 and will just "upgrade to the new one". I have experienced this when talking to colleagues and when you mention to them things like 120Hz or USB-C speeds etc. they just look at you like you're an alien. Funny thing about USB-C is they think it's a "Samsung charger", not a universal standard. So basically Apple knows what they're doing, just giving average customers an upgrade and spending as little as possible on improvements.
2-3 weeks ago i got my first iPhone. It's 15 Plus (Green). My previous phone was Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G with 120Hz Display, but when i got the iPhone I got used to it & so far the iPhone is super good and it's super comfortable to use. The iOS is super good and i am loving it. I don't think that I'll ever switch back to Android.
I am done with buying iPhone base models (ex iPhone 15), missing the promotion is just a dealbreaker for me and the company, as Ella says, even Old Android phones and budget phones does have 120 hz. I cant take Apple serieous anymore, the base models isn’t exactly budget phones its actually very expensive.
Most people won't notice or even care about the regular 15's missing features. I have one and I'm more than happy with it, although I do agree that the 60hz refresh rate could be better, especially at that price. The 'Pro' versions are VERY expensive as it is, so unless you're like a photographer, videographer or whatever, you should probably buy the base. The comparisons between these phones are still appreciated. Excellent video!
I don't get the love people have for wireless charging, its just slower and more restricting than wired, can someone explain why they like it and what's better about it than just plugging a lead in?
i understand your point because i also had that thought before. i think it's appeal starts to get noticeable when you are the kind to just put your phone at a single place anyway at home when youre not using it. like if it's not doing anything anyway, might as well charge it while knowing that when i already need it, i wont have to deal with unplugging it. charging your phone multiple times a day using a wire will wear the charging port and having the peace of mind that i can charge while keeping my port with less wear is nice. also, by knowing where i always leave it makes my problem of actually misplacing my phone less of an issue. hope that answers your question
I agree. I only own a classic charger. My 13 Pro has a great Battery life it can last my day work from 8 AM to 7-7.30 PM. I will not spend money for a wireless charger: for me, it doesn't make sense. It's a nice to have.
Maybe a question of appeal, probably has some mind tricks to it too. Can't fault this preference but it's certainly not my cup of tea. Can't even say it's more convenient since all I have to do is plug my phone and let it be. Is it more modern to wireless charge? more futuristic? don't know, I just know that it serves the same purpose as a wired one. Probably not as efficient in terms of energy consumption, battery health as a wired one. To each their own, they say.
You forgot also it is less efficient, basically you can charge your phone twice with wire for the cost of 1 wireless charging. Probably it is not a big concern for a lot people but so much for the environmental friendly shat. Actually it is just slightly more convenient and you don't have a cable next to your bed.
I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and have been a Mac, iPhone, iPad, and iPhone user since the beginning. I agree with Ella, that the iPhone 15 is a great iPhone but also a terrible iPhone with many unwanted features that I cannot turn off. For the last 6 months, since the iOS 17 upgrade, there is this awful feature called focus. Without any warning, it silenced my phone for 8 or more hours a day. I spent many hours unsuccessfully trying to turn focus off. Because I travel to Hong Kong every 4 months, I have missed dozens of important phone calls in the last 6 months. I have to change it focus settings every time I travel. I finally had to go to the Apple Store to get somebody to fix this problem because phone calls come in at all hours. Why did they add this stupid feature? Then recently, they added a feature that I could not turn off . The iPhone would silence the phone ring after one or two rings. It shuts off the ring as soon as you look at the phone. Please, Apple, DO NOT add these stupid features without my explicit permission or putting the control switch somewhere obvious! I am on the verge of throwing the iPhone 15 Pro Max away and going back to an earlier iPhone.
People who go from 120-Hz pro models to the basic 60-Hz models don’t find much difference. In fact, it only takes about 1 or 2 hours to feel the screen natural. and then later you don’t even notice that you have a 60-Hz model. You start appreciating more that your iPhone costs less, has a longer-lasting battery, barely scratch of speed difference, and is far more comfortable and lighter compared to the pro models.
Wow an actual iPhone 15 review that actually points out pros and cons, unlike other mainstream reviewers that tried so hard to justify Apple's pathetic decision in purposely omitting certain features on the iPhone 15; gotta keep them Apple's exclusive going, talk harshly about them and say goodbye to your Apple's exclusive. This is why i love watching your reviews. Keep em going
I am an iPhone 14 user and I have absolutely no problem with the fact that the screen has a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Battery life is more important to me than a screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate on a phone. I also don't use wireless charging at all, because it affects the phone's battery life.
For the life of me I can’t tell the difference between 60 and 120 refresh rate. Even with having 120 on my iPad Pro. I upgraded to the 15 from an iPhone SE2 because of the brightness and battery. Battery life has been awesome for me. It charges plenty fast enough for me using the cable, I don’t like the heat MagSafe creates. All that said I don’t think it’s worth $800 but I keep my devices for a long time. I hate the colors but I always use a case anyway.
base model: if you dont want 120 hz buy this' pro models: buy this if u want please android users anderstand this and stop complaining abt a product u dont have becuase iphones dont have a problem at all
Hey Ella, sorry my comment is really long so you may want to read from the comment section of the video instead rather than the notifications dropdown box menu...I liked and Loved the way how she was really very specific and clear about certain things and details of information directly to her personal youtube fans here through TH-cam on this one particular video of hers, truth is that and truth be told that the some of the newer versions of Apple iOS are negative with samsung android have good results but when you compared certain Iphones to other Iphone versions and brands for Iphone iOS rather than to samsung android...Well either way some Iphones get more of the left side where the trees are and less of the right side where the buildings are located compared to other Iphones just like how she was doing comparing the iOS Iphone directly to Android's...The Pros and Cons from you yourself there Ella was specific and easy to Understand.!!! Although I still prefer Apple because of Iheart Music AppleTV and Movie Apps from iOS including the Apple App Store not just it's Apple Ipad's Gaming included plus not to also mention as an Asian Canadian from upper North America, I have a cousin who works at Apple in the Sale's Section and certain Iphones are better than others while a lot of Multicultural Emergency Personel for the 9/11 Responders generally tend to use Apple iOS...Android doesn't have those kinds of types of fun Relaxational Young Feeling Apps that Apple does but either way comparing either to other Apple versions or even comparing to samsung, well one phone will have the leftside except for the rightside cut off while the other phone will have the rideside cut off and the leftside showing on the picture phototakes.!!! While with that being mentioned, android was always more of a workphone while Apple iOS iphones were always just like the Ipad such as used for both young and relaxational use based purposes only plus the Colouring and the Design of their actual Iphone products casing cases both back and front of the phone was better looking that samsung androids although some Samsung Phones compared to other android products rather than iOS phones were better than the other samsung features...Apple fully wins for me while samsung only for work purposes only except community volunteering and family use and that's basically that.!! Both are good though with Apple's iOS Iphone Devices and Products having longer years in life expectancy compared to samsung products for Apple.
Upgraded my wife's 11 Pro Max 'Gold' for a 14+ and the 11 Pro is still reeeaaaallly good. I do have a 15+ and the Pro Max and I only miss the action button between the 2 phones.
Here’s a fresh idea: Keep the baseline iphone and iphone plus at 500-600$ , give them 90hz and AOD. Don’t refresh them every year. Once in 2 years a processor update with a design refresh. Keep the pro iPhones at 900-1100$ pricetags.
Very helpful. I was all ready to switch to iphone but theack of AOD and USB 3.x is a bit of a deal breaker. I'll wait for the S24 on case Samsung offer 7 years support like they are for Tensor
I really liked your video Ella! One thing i noticed with my iphone 13 from work and my s21 plus private use. The 120hz refreshrate on the s21 compared to my 60hz iphone is just a slightly difference. What i noticed is that apple made hes software just smoother that is scrolls much smoother on social media or like the browser. Maybe thats why they didnt bother much about the refreshrate?🤔 Let me know what you think about this subject and what you use for daily!😁
The base iPhones have been uncompetitive since the 13 series….. 60hz in 2023? Get outta here Apple. USB 2.0 speeds with 4k 60fps videos recording capabilities…..F NO. And finally, although the chips in the phone are great, putting last year’s chip in the new model is beyond low….
In 2024, I switched to an iPhone for the first time after years of using Samsung products. I chose the base model of the iPhone 15, but I find it lacking in features, particularly in photo editing, compared to my previous Samsung Galaxy S21.
The Iphone 15 is just a watered down 14Pro with usb-c charging. The 24mp mode for imagery only on the 15 series is a gimmick. The 15 does not have new lenses. So apple should give the 14pros an update to the camera. If you want to access the 24mp options you need Halide. Apple has it locked behind software and its so not fair. The 14pros & 15 same chipset, same lenses, but the 14pro still takes better photos. 🤷🏼 So I dont get why the 15 is $800 like drop the price. Or bring back a mini model. These phones are to expensive for what they are. Its like a new iPhone 12 the past 3 series. They need to update IOS & give more features and customization. The iPhone line has never felt more stagnant. The color options for 15 series the worst IMO. Ill be sticking with the 14Pro until we see a real change. Or a new mini model comes out!
Even the Pixel 6 from a few years ago has a 90hz refresh rate and has an all-day battery, and you can find one for like $250 these days. Getting last year's flagship Android phone is usually a better value than getting this year's iPhone.
I have recently upgraded from my iphone 12 to 15 green colour and I love the colour. It is good to see that you too use nothing earbuds with your iphone as I too use them
Yeah, I tried one of these out at an Apple Store, and instantly noped out because of the refresh rate. I've apparently gotten really used to 120Hz on my 13 Pro Max. I know some people claim not to notice or care... but given that you can get a low-end Android phone with even 90Hz... it's not a great look. On the USB 2.0 thing... my theory is this: On the Pro models, Apple noted they included a USB 3.1 controller on the A17 Pro chip itself. So, since the regular 15s are using last year's chip (with a USB 2.0 controller also on chip), they probably had to weigh if it was worth adding an external USB 3.1 controller chip on the PCB, or if it made more sense to just give it a year until the base iPhones got the A17, since like 5 people will use wired data transfer anyway.
I've found some people seem more sensitive to it. I can barely tell a difference between 60 and 120 for anything I do on my phone. If I don't compare side by side, I don't even notice it. Even on my computer with a 30 inch monitor, for normal day to day tasks I cannot tell the difference in it at 60hz and 144hz. When it comes to running games though, thats when I can tell the difference... only when something is very fast paced graphics changes.
Your last theory is wrong. iPad Air and Mini already got 10x faster data speeds (half of 15 Pro) than 15 with older chips, which in this case are A14 and A15. Saying A16 doesn't have a better, or at least the same controller, as A14 and A15 is absolutely ludicrous It's just Apple being cheap and wanna force us buy Pros to get anything decent
It's funny when you mention the A23 with 90Hz because I used the A23 before upgrading to my new 15 Plus. And true, I can tell the difference the first time I compare the two
I bought an iPhone 15 this month, despite the 16 releasing soon. There will always be a new phone, and the 15 does what I need it to. I don’t use socials and the battery lasts me pretty much all day. So far I love my base model 15. (Edit) : And I had to get it in BLACK!
A surprisingly good review. Personally - i think that "we" peaked in smartphones capabilities in around 2019 or so (Note 20 ultra, Iphone 12 etc.) ... for a normal usage, even photos and such .. there is no need for anything "better" and better is only incremental - with greatly diminishing returns for a premium. With that said - i DO value design and design language highly - even over specs and such. However .. the iPhone 15 has not quite convinced me with its design. There is nothing outstanding about it ... i would even call it conservative. Muted colours and rather boring form factor - to say it in "Apple-language" ... there is no courage, no daring, no trend-setting. When it comes to design, there are some timeless phones ... the Huawei mate 40 pro, the S10 5g, the iPhone 5 and the X, the Sony Xperia One... those are phones that re-defined a design language. The Huawei with its buzz-word "waterfall display" and the ultra-thin frame, the S10 with its iconic camera module, extremely elegant screen and frame lines, the iPhone 5 with its .. well, actually - its very similar to the iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15 etc., the iPhone X is just beautiful as a whole and the Sony Xperia radiates "professional function over beauty".
im samsung girl but i really love iphone 15 series. But i decided to just saving money until my recent phone died or cant use anymore ❤ pray i can buy this phone one day heheheh
It's such a shame that they decided to use the lesser USB-C version. I have no idea why they went that route, they could've went with the normal USB-C 3.0 which is the norm on most android phones and the fact that a cheaper android phones already have 3.0 makes it even weirder. Big dub for iPhone honestly.
I have the 15 plus it’s great like I don’t mind the 60hz because more hz means drains battery fast and I want the battery to last pretty long and it does now I would’ve got the pro but I heard 15 regular got better battery than the pros so that’s why I got the 15 plus
Oh I’ve experienced 120hz on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, and I feel that I upgraded to the iPhone 15 plus, because honestly, 120hz refresh rate on a 6.7inch screen doesn’t really matter to me personally I love my iPhone 15 plus!
I can't argue against docking the 15 for a 60Hz display...it's why I went Pro after all. However, my Mom can't tell the difference and I honestly don't think the majority of people can or even care. It's hard to argue that Apple doesn't know their audience. Some of us will pay for the upgraded screen but the majority don't notice the difference but do pay attention to the things they do notice and that the 15 does well.

For iPhone 15 and 15 plus, if u open settings and search Always on Display, there is actually a search result. But when u pressed it, it only brings u to the display setting, and the Always on Display won't be there.
iPhone, and all Apple products, have lagged behind other products for over a decade. Not sure why this is a surprise every time a new phone comes out. People don’t buy an iPhone because they want a good phone or care about technology. They buy an iPhone because they want an iPhone.
Today I just got my first ever iphone and its iphone 15 I did not check some reviews i just buy it right away because they offer bigger discount 😅. Do you think it still worth it? 😞
I have both s23 and iPhone 15 plus…. The cameras are not comparable s23 camera is worse when compared to 15plus…. Yes s23 feels smooth and fast… but to be frank using both side by side I don’t see any problem with 60hz….
I couldn’t care less about the refresh rate. And as for the USB 2.0, I can’t remember using the iPhone port for data transfer volumes after so many years as user.
I have iphone 11 and when i moved my screen like this 3:17 didn’t feel any slowing, it works smoothly, just delete unnecessary photos and free up your phone space and you will hardly notice the difference, or just get 128gb , 265gb or 512gb
I really love my pink 15 plus but I think if I had heard your review before purchasing, I probably would have not given my husband my 14 pro max and let him upgrade to the 15 pro max from his 12 pro max. I think it should at least have 90hz refresh rate. 60 is pretty choppy, even for someone like me. Non gamer, just your average user.
You’ll get used to it esp most videos in TH-cam are 30-60fps anyway. But yeah, if you really notice it even after 2 weeks…then 120hz is the way to go for you
I personally don't care that the iPhone 15 has USB-C 2.0 or that it only has a 60Hz refresh rate. Still love it. LOVE her videos. She's so succinct and precise. No fluff and nothing but useful information.
This is one of the best phones I have ever used, period. I don't really mind most of the shortcomings of the iPhone 15 as I'm fine dealing with some of the inconveniences. However, there are other gripes (including not charging on some USB-A to USB-C cables) that can irritate me on this phone
iPhone 13 and Galaxy S23 are both in same price range in my country. Which one should I go for? I tend to lean towards S23 but I won't mind shifting to iOS line up.
Seems to me that most people would be better off spending a couple hundred dollars more for the 15 Pro, like she alluded there are better options if you are trying to save money even in the Apple ecosystem.

With the cameras yes you don’t get a telephoto lens but you get to crop into the main sensor which I think is a nice touch even though officially it’s not a zoom lens.

So which would you personally pick, Ella? The S23 or the iPhone 15? I like the iPhone 15 green color, but I wish it was more saturated or a deeper green. I think I would go with the S23, though. It just gives you so much more freedom of customization, plus it has a telephoto camera, split screen mode, better GPU performance, and a more interesting UI.
depends on whether you have other apple products already or if you prefer a more simple and consistent software with better battery or a more customisable and less restrictive software with a a few additional features
Not gonna lie, i had so much fun buying apple products, 14 pro max and AirPods line is going to be my last products to get, I’m so excited for the Galaxy S24U when it comes out, i saw the new SnapDragon Chip and its mind blowing

Ella you are such a good professional reviewer. You know what you're doing and it shows. Great job!
Stunning review! It's a very nice refresh to find someone else reviewing tech! The format of the video looks so good
I feel like Apple comes up with the pro models first and then thinks about what they can remove/downgrade to still sell it as the new model without getting too much into the older models territory where it would be too obvious.
I went form s22 plus 120hz to iPhone 14 base and I don’t notice the difference in refresh rate.
But not at its price…for 800+ it really should have a telephoto lens and 90hz.
Still a scam 😂 just because iPhone plebs dont know whats out there, doesnt mean its good
Username, lol. Agree but consumers should know the competition provides more, for less cost. Not sure they know. It’s the cost savings for apple at their customers expense that bothers me.

And how long before you start to justify Samsung exorbitant prices?
your videos are so clean✨i love it
I personally don't mind the 60Hz when scrolling all that much, but I mind it a LOT when it comes to the swipe home animation. It just looks horrible and it feels much more noticeable when there's a frame drop or stutter(something wonderful that iOS 16 finally brought to the iPhone 🙄) compared to on a 120hz display like my 13 Pro.

You're seriously the only one I can go to to get a clear and thoughtful take on these things.
Ella has the best reviews and such a professional speaking voice! 💐
The colours for the 15 series are unbelievably nice
Watching this on my iPhone 6S plus 😂. It’s been a great ride but it’s finally time to upgrade.
I was gonna get the normal 15, but when I compared it to the 15 pro with 120hz, I couldn’t resist it.
same i understand
It sucks. I hate it even on my Apple Watch.
Finally a review that points out both the pros and cons! Thank you for this!
I've only recently subscribed, I'm a bigger fan every video. Incredible at being unbiased.
Its always nice to see ella’s thumbnail images 💐💐🌺
People who go from 120-Hz pro models to the basic 60-Hz models don’t find much difference. In fact, it only takes about 1 or 2 hours to feel the screen natural. and then later you don’t even notice that you have a 60-Hz model. You start appreciating more that your iPhone costs less, has a longer-lasting battery, barely scratch of speed difference, and is far more comfortable and lighter compared to the pro models.
If Apple wanna keep 60Hz on regular models forever at least put adaptive 60Hz in it. That way those frame rates are not wasted

A nice review but I confess that no one of our group with the new iPhone 15, cares about the refresh rate.
Here’s a fresh idea:
Keep the baseline iphone and iphone plus at 500-600$ , give them 90hz and AOD. Don’t refresh them every year. Once in 2 years a processor update with a design refresh.
Keep the pro iPhones at 900-1100$ pricetags.

One thing i noticed with my iphone 13 from work and my s21 plus private use.
The 120hz refreshrate on the s21 compared to my 60hz iphone is just a slightly difference.

So I dont get why the 15 is $800 like drop the price.
Watching this on my iphone 15 pink one 💕
Same I love it so much 💞
I have recently upgraded from my iphone 12 to 15 green colour and I love the colour.
I switched from 13 pro max to regular 15 and honestly if people haven’t said that the 15 has 60 Hz i wouldn’t notice at all
@@AyaWettspeople usually can so your problem ig
@@sarahal9809you problem , 95% of population can tell the difference
Your last theory is wrong. iPad Air and Mini already got 10x faster data speeds (half of 15 Pro) than 15 with older chips, which in this case are A14 and A15. Saying A16 doesn't have a better, or at least the same controller, as A14 and A15 is absolutely ludicrous
It's just Apple being cheap and wanna force us buy Pros to get anything decent
It's funny when you mention the A23 with 90Hz because I used the A23 before upgrading to my new 15 Plus. And true, I can tell the difference the first time I compare the two
Switched from s21 to this today. Already regretting my choice. What have I done lol
I bought an iPhone 15 this month, despite the 16 releasing soon. There will always be a new phone, and the 15 does what I need it to. I don’t use socials and the battery lasts me pretty much all day. So far I love my base model 15.
(Edit) : And I had to get it in BLACK!
Sweet review. Older users still prefer a physical silent switch. Time will tell if they accept a multi function toggle.
I love the colors and matte and frosted feel/look. But I’m not complaining. Just hate that it doesn’t come with a brick
I come from Android flagship phone 120 Hz to iPhone 15 ....Frankly speaking the refresh rate doesn't matter ...
Is there any hitting issue?
It's such a shame that they decided to use the lesser USB-C version. I have no idea why they went that route, they could've went with the normal USB-C 3.0 which is the norm on most android phones and the fact that a cheaper android phones already have 3.0 makes it even weirder. Big dub for iPhone honestly.
I have the 15 plus it’s great like I don’t mind the 60hz because more hz means drains battery fast and I want the battery to last pretty long and it does now I would’ve got the pro but I heard 15 regular got better battery than the pros so that’s why I got the 15 plus
I bet you haven't experienced 120hz display then 😅
@@prashantmankarmacharyaOr his eyes is not good enough
Oh I’ve experienced 120hz on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, and I feel that I upgraded to the iPhone 15 plus, because honestly, 120hz refresh rate on a 6.7inch screen doesn’t really matter to me personally
I love my iPhone 15 plus!
@@prashantmankarmacharyaI have used it and it’s much choppier on an iPhone compared to Android 120hz. It doesn’t bother me to use a 60hz iPhone now.
@MadaraUchiha.. Its an obvious answer from Iphone(non pro) users. 😅😅
I can't argue against docking the 15 for a 60Hz display...it's why I went Pro after all. However, my Mom can't tell the difference and I honestly don't think the majority of people can or even care. It's hard to argue that Apple doesn't know their audience. Some of us will pay for the upgraded screen but the majority don't notice the difference but do pay attention to the things they do notice and that the 15 does well.
base model: if you dont want 120 hz buy this'
pro models: buy this if u want 120 hz faster speeds and other stuff
please android users anderstand this and stop complaining abt a product u dont have becuase iphones dont have a problem at all
Could you please share the wallpaper from min 1:08?
I love this Canadian gal. She is upfront and honest
The usb 2.0 combined with not having at least a 90hz display for 800$ is crazy to me :/
nono that because an avrage person wouldnt need it but if u do buy the pro line
And also lack of telephoto lens. The S23 has all of that and faster charging.
For iPhone 15 and 15 plus, if u open settings and search Always on Display, there is actually a search result. But when u pressed it, it only brings u to the display setting, and the Always on Display won't be there.
I'm still with iPhone 7. Isn't that too much guys? LOLzz!!
Have been lately watching these reviews to switch to 15.
Let's see when, lol again.
iPhone, and all Apple products, have lagged behind other products for over a decade. Not sure why this is a surprise every time a new phone comes out. People don’t buy an iPhone because they want a good phone or care about technology. They buy an iPhone because they want an iPhone.
Finally an honest iPhone 15 review. Thank you Ella!
Today I just got my first ever iphone and its iphone 15
I did not check some reviews i just buy it right away because they offer bigger discount 😅. Do you think it still worth it? 😞
I have both s23 and iPhone 15 plus…. The cameras are not comparable s23 camera is worse when compared to 15plus…. Yes s23 feels smooth and fast… but to be frank using both side by side I don’t see any problem with 60hz….
great honest review! (also i love seeing ucla campus in your reviews
Thank you!!
I couldn’t care less about the refresh rate. And as for the USB 2.0, I can’t remember using the iPhone port for data transfer volumes after so many years as user.
Damn ella you rlly upped your game from the old videos in the beggining. Great job!👏
I intentionally use 60hrz instead of 120 to save battery. So I don't think it's a big deal for someone like me who prioritises battery.
However, there are other gripes (including not charging on some USB-A to USB-C cables) that can irritate me on this phone
relax apple fanboy lol
You haven't used any phones if that is the best
@@CZP-01Once a sheep always a sheep
iPhone 13 and Galaxy S23 are both in same price range in my country. Which one should I go for? I tend to lean towards S23 but I won't mind shifting to iOS line up.
S23 girl
Seems to me that most people would be better off spending a couple hundred dollars more for the 15 Pro, like she alluded there are better options if you are trying to save money even in the Apple ecosystem.
better yet buy an older 14 pro or even the 13 pro as those would be of much better value, even more so in the second hand market
Why I don’t have that cut out on the right side below power button? What is that?😔
Oh yeah, I don't have it either!
Watching this on my new pixel 8 pro , I was worried about going back to android after having iPhone for years I initially went to s23 ultra but then sent that back and went pixel omg this is the new king 👑 the camera the screen the ui everything makes the iPhone 14 pro max and the s23 u look soo dated and the speakers omg what have they done best I have ever heard hands down . This cost me the same as a iPhone 15 and it blows it away on every aspect not including stupid rugged benchmarks they are real world use go team pixel 8 pro
Yeah I'm torn because I really like that phone but idk about an all it google phone but then I really use mostly Google apps now on my galaxy
@@ITSKANICEAA honestly the pixel is amazing I don't know how they have made the haptics so good and the keyboard sound is like 3d sound I love it and the camera the Google UI is soo cool
Great review. On task the whole review. Answered all the questions that I had.🎉🎉
For me using the 15 plus I have like what I’m using and for the battery because it is so good and can last over a day before I even have to charge. 60Hz is something I’ve gotten used to and 120 Hz is like is it essential…no would it be nice to have…yes as in my opinion it’s not a “pro” feature. With the cameras yes you don’t get a telephoto lens but you get to crop into the main sensor which I think is a nice touch even though officially it’s not a zoom lens.
base model: if you dont want 120 hz buy this'
pro models: buy this if u want 120 hz faster speeds and other stuff
please android users anderstand this and stop complaining abt a product u dont have becuase iphones dont have a problem at all
No pro raw despite 48mp camera is a big no from me. Literally only thing that made my decision
Generally S23 is the better overall, unless you want to spend extra to get a Pro
S23🥇, no doubts.
Since i also use a 6.1' 13 Pro, if you really need iOS and can find a refurb iPhone to a lower price, it could be an option.
Ofc samsung
Especially the newer ones
Samsung gives u so much freedom and have more features
There's nothing about iPhones that convinced me to get it
@@Omasje1 I mean the eco system, reliability, longevity, optimization and resale value are pretty good reasons but to each their own.
