I appreciate that your Gameboy was broken in so many ways so that you can troubleshoot all the things lol. Nice job identifying the issue.

This video is great. It did help me get my game boy Advance working again! But you'll get a kick out of this.. mine was not terribly corroded, and I was frustrated that it worked fine when I put it in a safe place and it sat for several years (i used to collect gameboys). Well after watching the video I decided to just try the caveman thing and switch the power on and off rapidly back and forth 100 times to see if that loosened something up and sure enough it works fine now and it's getting better every time I turn it on 😂 I can take them apart completely and clean them (this one was cleaned before storage. I clean all my systems with alcohol carefully) but.. I don't have a soldering iron sadly.

Also: what other fuses might be associate with the power? I'm still learning to read schematics/blueprints .😅

Hi, my GBA won't turn on after trying to install an ags 101 screen, it happened after soldering the power cable for the screen to the motherboard, now the power light just flickers red when turning it on and it doesn't give the startup sound, I desoldered the wire again and stil it doesn't turn on properly, there is nothing wrong that I can see, do you have any suggestions as to what could be the problem? Is there an easy way to figure it out using a multimeter? Thanks

      Same problem here

@@geekaymuzik turns out I wasn't paying attention and plugged in the ribbon cable baclwards 🤦 also learned you don't actually need to solder the wire it will work fine without, only solder the wire if you need the screen to be brighter, I plan on soldering a switch in between so I can switch the brightness

Question: did you clean the switch before? In my case the switch is very solid. The solder wouldn’t be fluid. How hot does the soldering iron have to be?

Apply some fresh solder to the iron’s tip before desoldering something. That will help. 350 Celsius for the temp if you are using a cheap iron, maybe less if you get a tip that can transfer heat more efficiently. Up to 370 if it’s not melting quickly enough.

I think solder on the spring on the switch it not a good idea the solder thends to oxidse and reduce conductivity.

That's a fair point. Generally if I have extra parts I like to replace them completely to avoid these type of issues down the road.
