Thanks, man, you madre it look very easy, you just got a sub
Great video, i tried this and it revitalized all three of my Wavebird controllers. What a quick and simple fix, very glad it was so easy! Thanks a ton for the info 👍
That's great to hear that this helped you out. Enjoy your controllers!
Idk if youre still around but if this ever happens with the pins again dab it with vinegar first. Ok ill press play now.
Im still around, I’ve been planning to start up content again soon 👀
@totalfix877 do it bro. I found your video helpful. And luckily you don't sound re****** 😅. So it's not bad for background. Like a mod buddy who isn't really there 😮
I know this was a yr ago but I am looking to do this now. What was the clear resin type liquid you applied 1st after removal? Thanks
Flux
This is flux, sorry for the late response
Your channel is so helpful! Thanks for all the effort you put in. Helping a newbie like me understand and see some great techniques!
This is really helping me as to what to troubleshooting. Thanks a lot!
Got one off the side of the road that I’m having the same problem with idk how long it was outside for but I took it apart and cleaned the board it looked okay but your video is making me want to double check it and I have to clean the pins so I’m hoping I’ll get lucky and that’s all it is
Can you record the bridging process
What brand are your tweezers?
They were iFixit tweezers
what did you use to remove the bad cart reader? I have one that might need replacing. Can it be done with a regular soldering iron?
Yes it can be done with a regular iron but the process is a bit more involved and requires a bit more patience but can be done. The tool I used was a desoldering gun
Thank you! Had to watch the screw placements a couple times to get it correct, but she works great now!
I tried adding HDMI to my n64. It didn’t work. The av still works except it has no audio now. Do you think you can fix it?
Why do you recommend someone to buy for this repair that has nothing except for screwdrivers and tweezers? I have no idea about soldering but really want to fix this !
The best affordable solution with just tweezers and a screwdriver would be to apply some 99% IPA, WD-40 Contact Cleaner or BW-100 while the system is off. This way you dont have to worry about desoldering or any fancy techniques and it may get your system working again. Hope this helps!
7:24 cord replacement
i placed auminum foil in my cartridge slot, its so stupid but it worked once bro i swear😭🙏, and then i placed it again and i think my 64 just fried, the led turns on but no video and sound, ik it is stupid, but do i have to replace just the cartridge slot or the whole 64?
Guess I'd need a soldering tool
Started up my GC recently (after 3 years I think!) and got this message once when starting SA2B , it happend only once tho and I may have had the issue with another disc I bougth from a retro store at a con for awhile back!
😍
Are there specific signs that indicate that the caps need to be replaced? I’ve repaired a number of GameCubes now but I’ve never done this. I know the typical problem with the GameCube is the discs don’t read. In all but one instance I’ve always done the pot tweak and it worked. Could it be that the one instance needed the caps replaced?
Thank you for the video followed it step-by-step fixed my son’s GameCube
really helpful. Not an issue that a lot of people cover on youtube. i appreciate your time and effort to do this.
I got the same problem but il get video after fidgeting w the on off switch
It sounds like the contacts to this might be dirty, it might just need some cleaning with 91%+ IPA or some BW-100
Going to try and give it a deep cleaning thanks for your help
That was a waste of time!
My apologies, I will work on improving future content. Thank you for the feedback.
Would you be able to link or tell me the name of the screw bits you need and or the one you have, I want to open up also a PS1 that won’t close correctly and won’t play my games, any recommendations would be appreciated
I actually use the kit from iFixit. It might have more than you would need but it is actually a good kit, you can find it here: amzn.to/3UVq4Pi
Can you tell me how to fix a DOL-101 model GameCube. When I turn the GameCube on it spins a disk for maybe 5 seconds & stops spinning then pops up on a tv screen GameCube memory I’ve tried cleaning the laser lens, checked the caps on the motherboard, & reset the potentiometer, but none of those have fixed it. It’s still the exact same thing.
This might be due to a faulty reader altogether, I also had problems like this in the past where I just replace the laser lens after caps have been fully replaced. I wish I had a better answer, but I don't want to say that it is that 100% for sure, but generally that's the issue.
Hello, what size are the security bit screwdrivers? I need to buy them to fix my son’s GameCube and want to make sure I get the right ones. Thanks!
Thank you for this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, what if all the things you tested are ok, but GBC is still not powering
Where can I get that solder gun? Looks like a perfect solder iron since mine is really junky.
Where did you buy the 32-pin game cassette card slot adapter reader? Do you have a link?
Hi there, what would your troubleshooting tree look like for a gamecube that can't read discs? Would you replace the capacitors before or after replacing the laser?
Thanks Bro. I thought my wavebird was broken 🤣 It was only The Channel
Im glad it was such a simple fix. Enjoy your Wavebird!
my backlight doesn't work, now I know why, could you tell me how to find the right fuse? I don't understand everything you say because I'm from another country
www.ebay.com/itm/185382558657 This is the one I got exactly in the video that is the closest match to the fuse data sheet. Hope this helps!
Hi, long story short i fried my gba one day after sticking a pair of gator tweezer hooked up to the wall socket, just like the ones you are using to power it up,into the cartridge slot (yes, i know pretty dumb of me to do that, but i was just a curious teenager back then). Anyway, if i get a voltmeter where should i start checking and what values should i look for?
I guess the first thing to always start on is whether the system powers on. That is the primary place to start. If it doesnt, you would have to investigate if it is a faulty fuse (there is no continuity between the 2 points) or a dirty connecter on the power switch. If those are fine, you can then move over to the capacitors that are near the terminals on bottom right. Check to see if they are good primarily by seeing if the capacitors are broken/shorted/swollen have gone bad. This is just a starting point....if the system is still not powering on/displaying anything, then this requires further inspection and following schematics that are found online to determine that the proper circuit is going where its supposed to. I really do hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
mine gets audio, i can select things with the controller, but the video is just static pixellated garbage and i cant tell what is going on. any ideas? i tried cleaning it and its the same
nevermind! it was my composite to hdmi converter. i found an old tv with composite and the 64 works just fine
Im glad you were able to get it working!
But since the change can you play Japanese games on system or do you need something else
Thanks.
At 7mn et 24 secondes, What is the name of the item ? I have the same problem like you but I don’t Find it in Aliexpress. Thank’s
Good job
Thank you for this video! So it's okay to put alcohol on the contacts for the game goes and on the motherboard too,?
I just bypassed it and it works... So long as I don't fuck it up with the wrong polarity next time it should be good
😂I’m glad you got it working!!!
Hello, what type of fuse did you order?
hi, does this mod also work for playing PAL games?
Do you sell any game cubes that you have repaired?
You still around?
I am actually, I have been on a break but I plan to upload videos soon! Thanks for asking! ❤
@totalfix877 glad I saw this. Just found this channel and it's a banger! Let's see aome more content
I keep getting this error in my smash bros melee disc
Wow, i’ve been repairing these consoles for like 5 years now and never thought about that ic in particular to partially fail like that 🧐 guess you never stop learning hehe.
I got one doing the exact same thing, when I put a 3v battery pack on it turned on so it turn out to bee the battery contact
I don’t think there was any sound coming out from the Gameboy after you fixed it lol
thanks for the help
