He proclaimed himself a grand master in Wing Chun. I went into a small room with and closed the door, then asked why he was wasting his time. He told me he was going to " show me up" to his friends. I hit from two inches away,,, at the sternum. His balance was WAY OFF. so, a very easy target. He landed at t he end of the room. I politely asked him if he wished to continue in a real fight. He left. T he point is, it happened ALL the time, in many schools. To this day, I will never understand such a warped sense of self. I have been beaten, all of us have. But you don't play football without a ball

I saw an Iaido master that in a performance accidentally cut his thumb off when he unsheathed his sword. He finished his performance and walked off without making any face at all. He didn't even acknowledge the thumb on the floor, just left it there when leaving. That is mastering pain and trying to save face on a high level.

Medical science has come pretty far in terms of reattaching digits and limbs, but a body part lost under those circumstances (and especially with treatment not being administered right away/the thumb not being put in something cold to preserve it) is pretty much done. The iaido practitioner probably realized that on some level. Better to go hard than throw all that effort away over a lost cause.

I practiced traditional martial arts for a few years and what I've seen is that, unfortunately, most of people who started were desperately wanting to be fooled. (No, my master wasn't fooling anyone, but people always came with unreal expectations, then felt frustrated of not becoming Bruce Lee, and just gave up within a month).

I am 21 years old, I've studied Okinawa Kabudo since I was a kid of 8 years old (mainly the Bo, and Sai) and I meditate for inner peace, but I absolutely agree with this video, it is 100 percent accurate, there's too many fake martial artists out there, I've actually had people challenge me to a martial arts sparring match, and then back out last minute, because they knew nothing of martial arts, so definitely keep spreading the message that there are real one, and there are fake ones.

I did Tae Kwon Do (1st) than Wing Chun later. If I ever got attacked it wouldn't be Tae Kwon Do I'd use to defend myself. My Sifu taught us in a real situation it should be over in 3 seconds. No fancy moves. No exchanging blows. Every situation is different so I'm not going to give a move.

There is a reason why there are only certain techinques stayed in MMA - only most efficient from every other martial arts. Interesting point about the elderly martial artists demonstrating at a school and the students deferring to them by falling all over the place. When I saw videos of that I would wonder why the students did that as they were obviously not being hit hard but the respect for the elders angle makes sense
In Aikido, the demonstrating attacker is called the "Uke" (or something like that), and they are meant to go along with the "Shtay" (again, sp?) And accept their attacks. I trained in Aikido, and it IS useful, but it is taught (at least to me) is a useless way. When I practiced, I modified it to be much more violent and aggressive with throat strikes and grabs instead of a broad arm gently pushing your opponent to the ground (which would do nothing). My partner and I had the only spot in the Dojo with blood on the mat.

I am 21 years old, I've studied Okinawa Kabudo since I was a kid of 8 years old (mainly the Bo, and Sai) and I meditate for inner peace, but I absolutely agree with this video, it is 100 percent accurate, there's too many fake martial artists out there, I've actually had people challenge me to a martial arts sparring match, and then back out last minute, because they knew nothing of martial arts, so definitely keep spreading the message that there are real one, and there are fake ones.

The way my sensei taught me chi or qi was that it's basically focus. It's focusing on your breathing, your form and your opponent.

I did Tae Kwon Do (1st) than Wing Chun later. If I ever got attacked it wouldn't be Tae Kwon Do I'd use to defend myself. My Sifu taught us in a real situation it should be over in 3 seconds. No fancy moves. No exchanging blows. Every situation is different so I'm not going to give a move.

@@clbdyc Tae kwon do is not much better than wing chun. Nothing really is better for self defence than boxing and judo. There is a reason why there are only certain techinques stayed in MMA - only most efficient from every other martial arts. Every asian martial art is useless by itself, although they often have more rigorous training.

Interesting point about the elderly martial artists demonstrating at a school and the students deferring to them by falling all over the place. When I saw videos of that I would wonder why the students did that as they were obviously not being hit hard but the respect for the elders angle makes sense
In Aikido, the demonstrating attacker is called the "Uke" (or something like that), and they are meant to go along with the "Shtay" (again, sp?) And accept their attacks.
I trained in Aikido, and it IS useful, but it is taught (at least to me) is a useless way.
When I practiced, I modified it to be much more violent and aggressive with throat strikes and grabs instead of a broad arm gently pushing your opponent to the ground (which would do nothing).
My partner and I had the only spot in the Dojo with blood on the mat.
