Very common in Finland too. Parents tell their kids to not go near water alone because "näkki will drag them underwater", I've also heard Norway has the same story, though they again call it nøkk or nøkken.

First of, amazing show! I'm from sweden and I'm part of a group that hosts yearly viking reenactment s. We aim to dress-/eat- and do chores according to real viking findings. As part of the reenactment comes all the storytelling. The vikings have A LOT of interesting stories when it comes to mythology. For example: People were very afraid of "Rimtursar". These were giant creatures from the cold part of the universe called Nifelheim and are said to bring eternal winter. Rimtursarna was trying to destroy the church because they couldn't stand the sound of the church bells. So people used to have a small bell on a bracelet to let people know that you're human. Loke, Odens half brother (who btw is born from a rimturse) have a lot of mischief and weirdness going on. He's married to a giant that gives birth to a snake and a giant wolf. He also turns into a horse and *clearing throat* gets down to business with a real horse. This leads to the horse giving birth to the 8 legged horse Sleipner that Odin rides around on. Arizona Urban Legends please
I lived near blå jungfrun every summer for about 6 years. I remember that I said several times to my parents that I wanted to go to the island. My mum get very seasick so I understood why she couldn’t, but my father (who never gets seasick) also said no. I asked several times but I never got a real answer why we couldn’t. I was about 6 or 7 then and I’m turning 15 now and I still haven’t stepped foot on that island.
Btw you missed the part about witches bringing children to the island on their broomsticks to party with the devil or something. I think that I knew about it when I asked if I could go there but I’m not sure. I honestly think that I’m going to move one of the stones just to see what happens
