I am from Germany and the story "the marksman" is in fact the exact same plot as in the opera "Der Freischütz". So it's in fact not an urban legend, but an opera (and so somehow more fiction).
The story of the opera is based on "Der Freischütz. Eine Volkssage" a story in the book "Geister- und Spukgeschichten" by Friedrich August Schulze under the pseudonym Friedrich Laun. There is a good article in Wikipedia. There are other operas based on myth and legends, just like Hercules by Händel. (Well, Hercuels was originally an oratorium, but sometimes it is performed as an opera.)
Als film said, it the opera is based off of The Marksman. Funfact: The Marksman means "Der Scharfschütze" or "Der Präzisionsschütze", which can be translated to "Der Freischütz" in different regions of germany. The different dialects led to many different names for the same stories, thats deep inside of the history of germany.
Maybe I can help you out. I'm German and haven't heard of any of these. Germany is not very superstitious and a big majority doesn't believe in ghosts so maybe these stories just haven't spread far enough. If you go to some of the castles, some tour guides will tell you a ghost story or two about the place but it is unsure if they just made it up, so believe it or not I guess.
These stories aren't told to kids by their parents anymore. So maybe grandparents from Germany have heard them from their parents. My parents never told me any urban legends.

Hey I am a German and I can confirm, that most of this Legends are indeed well known and for example told by grandparents all over the country. Some i did not here of but i would not pese question there existence. But one is a little bit questionable and that is the story of the Emden. I live in Kiel witch was fore both world wars the most important harbor of Germany and i am interested in Navel history and never hared about this Legend. There were three ships that hade the Name Emden but the pictures used and the date in the Video (1909) suggest the first SMS Emden built in 1908 is the one on with the story is based. This ship has a very notivible history and about three movies where made around it, but the Fakts in the video are wrong. The SMS Emden indeed sailed across the whole world fighting for the German Empire but was sunk by the Australian ship Sydney near the Cocos-Islands, wich are a long way from the German Coast. The wrack was visible for a long time but not from Germany. Eventually parts of the crew made it back to Germany after an adventures trip wich is also an interesting story. I would highly recommend looking this up on Wikipedia or/and watch the movies.
The whole SMS Emden part is wrong. It was beached in 09/11/14 (dd/mm/yy) during the Battle of Cocos, near Australia. Its remains were scavenged by the Japanese after WWII There were survivors, though.
I‘m german and do not know some of them by myself. These are actually pretty cool! I didn‘t know, that Slenderman was inspired (I think so) by an old german myth!
The Unicorn I think that it is actually something made up after Slenderman was out. I haven't been able to find any info or stories on it from before the Slenderman was created. Supposed carvings from the 1600s but I don't really believe it, seeing as I can't find anything on were the original is or where it's from (town/city/etc).
fsaw gaming i am sure there would be a monster that lives in a lake/river that hates badpipes if he makes that video. And yeah you know what monster i mean

Man your english is insane❤

The whole SMS Emden part is wrong.
It was beached in 09/11/14 (dd/mm/yy) during the Battle of Cocos, near Australia. Its remains were scavenged by the Japanese after WWII
There were survivors, though.
PLEASE DO A PART 2!!

@@hurensohn1273 BOII.
