trooper_ 5.0 How is this intake performing with the flex fuel tune? I’ve read about issues with the maf signal on this intake with the flex fuel tune specifically.
I ran Steeda Intake and 93 Octane tune on my 09 Gt. I thought it was pretty solid for a daily driver. Currently running a Brenspeed Paxton Tune on it now
I like how all your upgrades look super easy and also look kind of factory made not to far away and crazy from the original Ford setup! :) Great video, love the Stango's sound!
Just curious Gold Pony, why did you choose Steeda (Tuning by James) for your 18+ GT? I think Steeda makes really safe and reliable tunes, but I’m just curious why you chose them over other tuners (Lund, PBD, AED, etc.). Trying to make a decision myself. How have you liked the Steeda tune long term? Any issues?
Steeda makes good tunes, I’ve had their tune on my 14’ Focus ST and it was spot on with zero issues or drivability and I also had it on my 14’ Mustang 3.7 with zero issues also, I don’t have any experience with the newer Mustangs but my past experiences were great. I went with the Ford power pack 2 on my 17 and it’s also been great. Don’t completely avoid a tune just because one person had an issue. Just my .02
The dirrerence is the steeda air inlet is 121mm stock is only 85-90 also the steeda air intake set mustang records as the fastest NA car in the world using this air intake
I had the Steeda closed box CAI. I tracked it recently and it went down hill fast. Car would throw error messages and then go into Limp Mode. Finally, we looked at the MAF sensor and it was covered with oil. We cleaned the MAF sensor and that did the trick. I also banged the oiled high-flow air filter against a wall and saw a load of rusty fine particles drop to the ground. I went to Lund to update my tunes and they told me that they highly recommend I either use the Steeda plastic air restrictor insert or return the car to the stock CAI. I decided to reinstall the factory CAI, remove the stock box carbon filter insert, and use a dry paper air filter. Car is running like a champ.
@@blackgt19 I never used the Steeda insert, which helps with turbulence, but restricts the airflow. I just had too many issues with the Steeda --- and the factory airbox, minus the carbon filter, performed just as strong. I recently purchased the Corsa dry closed. Being N/A, I hope to see a small improvement.
probably or I know Steeda can rework the tune after a datalog but I just don't have the time unfortunately and I honestly don't mind it... Was just a little different then what I was used to
Nothing but bling .... the Mustang community is getting smart to the whole CAI scam. The added HP, if any, is from the tune and nothing else. But, if you like $400 for black plastic bling, have at it.
True....This topic has been bludgeoned to death and resurrected with every new model year....Straight out the factory these 3rd gen coyotes are lit!🔥. If you’re not going max effort on boost leave it stock.
Ok I'm installing my Steeda Intake right now, completely done except I cannot see how that retaining clip would ever fit (fender side clip) How did you get that on there? any tricks?
Did you void your Ford Warranty by making these mods? I’ve seen a few comments on other posts that mentioned that. Just picked up my ‘19 5.0 last week and would love to start mods, but hesitant to break the warranty.
@@loanshark99 the stock air box works very well, throw a K&N filter in the box if you really want to. All a Cai is going to give you is a little more noise. At 430ish whp, you're not going to notice a difference with a tune on the street. There are better things to spend your money on, in my opinion. I'm not touching my powertrain warranty. So I've done a cat-back exhaust. Ordered some steeda progressive lowering springs, a short shifter, clutch spring, track pack spoiler to replace the ugly pp1 spoiler. I'll put anti wheel hop kit on and the rest will continue to be cosmetic. Keep in mind, I'm never going to track mine. If your goals are different than build accordingly. Just remember, you can have all the power is the world, but if you can't get the grip to put it to pavement, then it really doesn't matter does it?
Gold Pony....is the kick in the butt seat worth the coin? I have an aFe filter in my stock airbox and I live in Cali. I was just gonna keep it this way unless there is a real significant difference in power.
not a huge difference that I can feel but it's definitely there... The real answer will come when I get it on the track this year... Once it stops snowing of course haha
This is B.S. For one thing, when you have more than 400 hp under the hood, your not going to really notice 30 more hp. Its gonna feel the same. Also, the steeda filter used the same air cleaner box as the old one, just the hose changed, which by the way, looked just like the stock hose, so how could it be much different? Sorry, I ain't biting on this one. A K&N filter would probably work better, or just as good, and you probably wouldn't have to reprogram the cars computer.
Paul Knauf I’m with you 100%. I had a PMAS intake on my 2016gt with a 93 tune from Lund. Ended up switching back to stock air box and a k&n filter. I dyno both setups and the stock box w/k&n gave me only 3 LESS hp and the same tq, so these “cold air intakes” are not worth it at all...
It looks like the tube diameter is a bit bigger allowing a little bit more air flow, maybe..... I agree, it’s not worth the $ considering the cost of the tuner as well.
100% they are not worth the money. They don’t make any more power. Even open air JLTs. The only time they make more power is with hood open same power when closed. Even with the hood open it’s only 7hp and no one drives with their hood open :)
121mm, sure yeah it's the same diameter, listen Paul Knauf, you know nothing about this box and yet pontificating as if you do. Peoples butt dyno probably won't notice 30hp but they will notice better throttle response, transmission tweaks etc, the box has an insert to help drivability because of that 121mm size which requires a tune and no the tube won't fit the original lid. So sure, continue telling us how this box would work no better than a K&N filter. Combine this with corn and the car will easily go 4 tenths or more faster. IAT's are better due to being a closed box.
I have it, Lund tuned, without the insert and on a flex fuel tune. Love it.
I have it as well, without the insert and haven't had any chance to drive it due to weather.

Ok I'm installing my Steeda Intake right now, completely done except I cannot see how that retaining clip would ever fit (fender side clip) How did you get that on there? any tricks?
Do you have to buy the steeda tune separate? Besides buying the CAI and flash tuner? Or does it come with the tuner.
Are you still using this CAI? Do u have any issues with it I hear they have problems?
No not anymore and the Cai was fine but the tune had issues yes so I had to take it all off unfortunately 😔

It depends on what breaks... If something breaks directly related to a mod I did then yes the warranty is void.
You add a tune and the warranty on your engine is voided.
Damn yeah, with 224 miles I probably dont want to void my Warranty just yet. Bummer.

Were the o ring couplers hard to put on? Mine wont go on at all over the couplers or the intake?

Everyone it’s all about the tune not the air box 📦
Any idle issues with this? How is it now?
Yes, I had to Un-install the tune & send it back for nearly stalling out at idle & unwanted acceleration out of nowhere 😑
What do you think about the ford performance one with procal

Once you tune your car do you have to data log your car when you are naturally aspirated
Only if you want to make sure everything is running perfectly 👍
So I installed my steeda box nd it idle wrong wat you think can be wrong
Call Steeda... it did that for me too along with random acceleration so I removed the tune along with the intake
My problem w the idling was the box not sitting right and not being completely closed on the lid.
For power , the intake does it but on a e85 tune it idles like garbage, sends bad MAF signals
Where do you get e85 in the York , Gettysburg area?
You can Google it... That's what I did there's a decent amount of places
What about warranty from Ford after a tune? Can ford void warranty work?
Ok, I don’t see much of a difference between the stock cai vs the steeda one. Of course you have the steeds name prominently displayed.......
it has larger tubing & a better filter which is basically what all CAI's give ya
Gotcha, BTW, I have kin folk in Zelienople, PA.
what r u laughing at? dude i almost had u

Sorry but $399 for an intake that looks factory and only nets 5-8 hp max is robbery.
Cody I have to agree. The factory box is more than enough for a NA car so if anyone is going to do a CAI it better bring the bling.
To be fair, the same can be said for all aftermarket intakes.
Exactly. I kept the stock air box and just threw a high air flow K&N air filter in there.
